I don't have my iPhone yet but theoretically it should void the warranty. All you have to do is save your original back plate and if anything goes wrong take off your aftermarket one and put that one back on. nobody will know the difference.

It's wednesday. do deadlines mean anything anymore?? i was told i would have pictures on monday. i could have made my own backplate using a rock to carve it out of granite by now. (BTW that would be a frackin cool backplate. Granite.)

This is actually pretty cool and since the white iP4 isn't available yet. I'd definetely look in to buying one of these to change the back/front plate to white eventually.
And as someone already pointed out to you, those are plastic, not aluminum.
On another note, I'm gonna find out for sure if this is "okay" or not through square trade.

I don't think it's "ok" for the warranty but they will not know if you just change the original piece onto the phone.

How would they ever know you swapped it. Unless you throw away your original back plate all you would have to do is switch it back before you made a claim with them. Unless I'm missing something.
i think im going to end up buying a silver one. just because then i can beat the hell out of it without worrying about the resale value. (I have the side protection and always have a screen protector) so unless i drop it. haha it sould be fine.

Well if you didnt have to remove the back cover of your phone then it clearly isn't the same as what the OP is talking about.
I've got a blue one on the way, I think its aluminium but I'm not sure.
It's coming from China though and the sellers page said to allow up to 15 days which is usual for China. I will post pics as soon as I get mine though.
Also, @Jnardis is your antenna white? or is it just over exposure from the camera?

I asq'd the seller and he sent me pictures of the back. It IS the full back glass housing for $30!
Screwtabs are plastic, not metal tho. Here's the pic he sent me. What do y'all think?

These look ok! The only thing that causes some concern is that the camera lens cover will probable not be glass so it could get scratched more easy!
