A question from the UK.

As Apple are selling this unlocked in the UK and I have a few months left on my Orange monthly contract, could I buy it from Appled, cut my SIM down to MicroSIM and use it in the iPhone 4?

Would this work? Will it cause issues at registration?

hmm my bank account says there's a pending transaction from AT&T for $300 but i haven't received a conformation email.. does this mean it might still be processing?

Interesting. I am a FAN account, too. When I tried to add the devices via the normal AT&T online store, it redirected me to the FAN premiere store. During checkout, it even had me confirm my FAN discounts.

It should be pretty easy to get your discount added after the fact, though. Enjoy the discount!

Oh I'm loving the FAN discount 25% off plans baby! :D

To :apple:, I'm losing faith in you...I give up on this pre-order and the hurdles it presents...you've deviated from "simplicity..." what do you have to say for yourself?

How many servers would you have put in place to deal with the load?
What if you 'guess' was not enough?
Do you think Apple wanted the meltdown?
They will have done all they could to have prepared for the pre-order, but have probably been totally surprised by the demand. It happens. Get over it, it is not the end of the world. It is not as if your life depends on you getting an iPhone 4 on the day they are released!!!!

I was able to place my order via AT&T's website (Apple's site was giving me trouble and timing-out). I have a family share plan with three lines. Two were eligible for the $199 early upgrade on a 16 GB iPhone 4. I added those with no problems.

I was also able to add a $499 32 GB iPhone to the third line. (This line didn't qualify for the full discounted upgrade pricing, as the upgrade date was 3 January 2011.)

I submitted the order right around 5:15 am EDT and received the email confirmation just a few moments later.

It's also worth noting that, for the two lines that were eligible for the early upgrades and the $199/$299 prices, the price showed up as $399 for the 16 GB model UNTIL I added it to the cart, at which point both were properly adjusted down to $199.

I hope this helps!

When you checked out did you notice this: "Pre-orders for iPhone 4 and/or iPhone 3GS 8 GB will be shipped with overnight priority and will begin to arrive on June 24, 2010. The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, number porting, carrier issues, and completion of other required AT&T business processes."

AT&T may just be hedging their bets, but they make me nervous.

Or you could just ask Orange to supply a Micro SIM for the account you have with them at the moment. They will supply you a Micro SIM card if you ask.

Annnnnnd we're down again. Glad to see the bumpers are also available for pre-order. If you're going to have a case, it might as well be one Apple designed.

Apparently I'm one of the few people who doesn't take his iPhone to a demolition derby and therefore doesn't need armored protection for it.

Yeah, but this time I think they should have an idea of how many people are going to hit them. Spin up a couple hundred extra servers just for this. It doesn't appear to be an issue with AT&T like it used to be...

This is just getting silly now.

It is. I would expect Apple to be able to handle this load by now. Hell, they built a server farm in North Carolina that for all we know is just for moments like these. :p

"We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly."

Oh really? We do not have the same definition for the word "busy".

We also don't have the same definition of "make the ****ing site work."

And if they did what you suggested already, but it was still not enough, what then?

As you don't know what Apple did to prepare it is not fair to moan.
They could have done exactly what you suggested, but that may still not be enough.

I bet you are perfect at your job 100% of the time as well.
