This iPhone is a real gem. Much better than 3GS. If only I wasn't a student on a limited budget 
Isn't the UK ahead of us timezone wise? I guess that might explain why they are still able to pre-order.

Ok, when exactly did the store go up? Its 4:30 here, and I just crawled out of bed needing to go to the bathroom and decided to check the news whilst up. However, I'm far to lazy to do time zone conversion/figure out what time zone things were posted in. Also, what exactly is wrong with the apple store? Its just taking me to the "We'll be back soon." page...
If I have to do the same thing every year, by the fourth time, I would hope that I had a pretty good idea of how much traffic I should be expecting. The Apple Online Store (US) was totally broken. That isn't cool.
Just completed my order through AT&T. It kept my data plan and my corporate discount for the data plan.

not quite. I got near the end of the process... "submit order"... and it timed out.
I think we just need a little patience today.I was doing an upgrade but the iphone 4 did not show up on list. 5 mins later i came back the site was down

They will ship it to you but I don't know if there's a guarantee that it'll be at your door on the 24th.
And if they did what you say, used the info from the previous times, understood the traffic they would expect and it was still not enough?
Do you really think they did not plan for this?
It appears that even the best laid plans can still fail.
