has any one checked thier order status on att its says its backordered i assume that because its a preorder but does anyone know exactly what time att started thier preorders
Okay, so I went to the AT&T site, signed in, found the link for preordering an iPhone 4, clicked... And I got a page with all their iPhones listed. Oops, hang on... I should make that all their iPhone 3G and 3GS iPhones. No links for an iPhone 4, preorder, nothing.
Looks like you just can't preorder period right now. I guess I'll try Apple's 1-800 number or order it online after work.
not quite. I got near the end of the process... "submit order"... and it timed out.I think we just need a little patience today.
I had patience, it went out about 2 hours ago. Been at this for quite a while.

Just got the e-mail and yes, I see that in the fine print. I think that's to protect themselves in case they screw up, but the way I read the email, it'll be there for me. Would be bad press to let you reserve something, tell you it'll be there till the end of the day, and when you get there it's been sold out from under you.
I was having issues when it was trying to pull my info from ATT. I did a pick up, so I didn't try to put in my cart.
I upgraded, but that was a couple of hours ago, before all you people got up and increased the server loads.
All the issues I had came when trying to add it to the cart. Apple could pull from at&t, they couldn't add the phone to the cart. Their whole shopping cart system went down.
Not sure what's wrong with your ISP then, because it works (well, worked) just fine for me.
Warbrain- yes I got my confirmation e-mail, and yes- delivery is apparently guaranteed "as early as" the 24th. See attachment.

Ok - I had problems with the AT&T site not showing a submit button for the order between 6am and 6:50 - went to get some exercise, came back, and now it works - submitted my order through AT&T premier and got my confirmation.
Hopefully they don't cancel it but it appears to have worked.

I saw that same thing on the site but I wasn't sure. I think I'm just going to the at&t route.
Hey, that machine is sexy. I have a display sitting here and I'm thinking it might be my next computer.
Mine was an upgrade went through fine...I suspect people jumping from apple site to AT&T sit my be slowing the process.
