iPhone 4 Available for Pre-Order from Apple

Jokes aside, looks like AT&T doesn't have their act together yet... Keeps timing out for me when I try to pre-order.
Same here, I've tried a dozen times. Tells me "Unable to connect" Then wants you to pick it up in store. No way, there's not an Apple store within 100 miles of me.
Maybe. I got the process started, but am staring at a spinning wheel of doom, waiting for it to check my account status with AT&T. How long should that step take?

Oh and I did the store pickup option, not sure if that helps the server not time out, since you don't have to do the extra payment step and worry about thier payment processing as well?

mine said that that to but it just say qty ordered 1 now the backorder went away
Can't get it to show up on the AT&T site, get a big fat "Oops!" on Apple's site as I try to check out...what a fiasco.
Tried with Apple but the order failed and I was told to go to a store.
AT&T had some issues before 7:30 AM but I was able to upgrade both phone lines and see my FAN discount at around 7:45 AM. THe only funny thing was that clicking on the iPhone 4 preorder link sends you to a page listing all iphones offered including refurbs. you need to scroll down quite a bit to find the iPhone 4.

No, it's the shopping cart that's failing.
It's not just a matter of server capacity, if their backend database isn't designed to scale to the kind of peak loads that they are now seeing. Throwing more hardware at a problem isn't always enough to scale it up - we're talking about peak transaction rate for the second largest corporation in the US. That's a whole lot of transactions.
For those who have completed their order through Apple.com. Is their an option to pay using the Bill Me Later plan, like you could use for the ipad.
I just successfully reserved my iPhone 4 for pickup at my local Apple Store.

You have to imagine how pissed the ATT network engineers are at this point given all the unnecessary traffic being sent over multiple time because of Apples cart issue.
