iPhone 4 Available for Pre-Order from Apple

Full retail price w/ no contract on the 16 gig is $499 correct?? not quite sure if I want to do a contract or just bite the bullet and save $300 by doing so. I'm not an att&t customer atm.
does it really matter what time you preorder? This will be my first actual preorder of the iphone, in the past I just waited.
did you read the Penny Arcade comic from WWDC? I think his response currently is like that.
I personally just do not like the white one, I think black is more "now" and "in style", but what do I know?
I decided to break my contract with Sprint since I have no service at work or school anymore, and go with the iPhone on AT&T. Woke up this morning at 5:30AM to get ready for work, just turned on my computer for kicks and giggles, and sure enough, the ordering had been activated...
I was almost done, when our puppy starting carrying on wanting to play/go outside, so I took him out in the middle of ordering. I got back, my order had been canceled due to inactivity, and then the store has been down since (all the times it had been back up between 5:30AM and 7:20, I was getting ready for work and driving to work.
FML... I was so freaking close.

thanks for the info but I seem to have lost my place, and now the site is totally down so i can't even get back in "line"
Kind of funny they haven't chosen Google or some other large capacity server farm to handle stuff like this.
i didnt get one yet either i talked to an att rep he said it might be awhile cause the sales have alot to process.
That's what I'm getting now. It doesn't even try to load just goes straight to Apple store is down sticky and International numbers page.
Reserved for pickup
After a dozen times through the steps only to fail on adding to my cart for shipment, I tried the "reserve for pickup" option and got right in.
I didn't really want to do that, but I guess I can weather a morning with the geeks rather than sitting here all morning fighting the web site.
Anyone one else going to be picking up at the Southlake, TX store?

Well if everyone turns off their damn WIFIs, I think this pre-order process would go a lot smoother.
+1 frustrated at no white. I will likely just enjoy iOS4 until I can get one, but it would have been nice to see "white not available at launch" or something when they were announced last week.

Just called my local Radio Shack and they just told me that they were 'screwed' out of the pre-order process at the last minute by Apple. They said they are doing their own type of pre-order but can not guarentee size/color and even date of when they will hit stores. They said they might not even get them until the day after launch now. He also said that this happened to all 3rd party retailers last night (Best Buy included)!
