I set mine for pickup in store as I enjoy the experience. However, my phone is said to be picked up in store on the 24th according to their email. If I don't get there early, anybody know if they'll just give them out till they run out even to people who haven't pre-ordered?

I am confused, my says "Ships: Delivers June 24" but underneath it says "Delivers July 6-8" wtf? Is that a error? I thought the next shipment was on the 14th?

I ordered at 6:30pm on the 15th. Not yet shipped. But it says Ships: Delivers on June 24th

hmmm.. Is it possible I hit a glitch in the system?

I called my local Apple Store to ask them this very question as I have one reserved for the 24th as well. I was assured that a phone will be held for me for the entire day. Stores are opening at 7am and closing at 9:30pm. If I don't pick it up on the 24th however, then they no longer hold the phone and I'm SoL.

So as long as you reserved a phone and are planning on getting there on the 24th, you're golden.

Nah I don't think they sold out of the pre order batch until around 7:30 PM or 8:00 PM PDT on the website. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I am not worried about waiting in a long line. I did pre-order it, but I also pre-ordered the iPad, and there was still not a long wait.

I hope..

I hope Apple checks the weather here before asking the shipper to hold the phone in the local warehouse for too long...

Forecast is for 100+f in the shade. The local FedEx warehouse is *not* air-conditioned...

My phone shows "Prepared for shipment" as well.

I ordered mine at an AT&T store on the 15th but it was during the time their system was down and they were taking orders on paper. I have a feeling I won't know shipping status until it arrives - hopefully on the 24th.

Same exact thing here. I got my emails saying "Thank you for choosing iPhone and AT&T!" and the one with my new contract details, and it says my order was on the 15th, not the 16th or 17th like some peoples got changed to, and it's not back-ordered....

so I'm hoping for the best

Damn....I ordered mine at 7:48, PDT, this ***** gonna cut it CLOSE!

they are at what now, preparing the around 5:00 PDT ones from the look of the posts?

Mine...

Are you sure about that? This is at the bottom of the confirmation e-mail I got from Apple:

Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

I certainly hope you're right though. Regardless, I plan on being in line nice and early. :)

Ordred mine on Jun 15, 2010 at 07:04 PM PDT still haven't been prepared for shipping. Guessing the guys preparing the orders have called it a day and went home, I'll check back monday I guess.

WooHoo!! Mine is prepared for shipment but my wife's isn't yet:D

Mine was at 4:35 PDT and hers was at 4:40 PDT.

Hmm, this is odd. I got the email from AT&T earlier with my new CSS. I just looked, and the one for my line hasn't been updated, but my wife's has. Yet mine is the one that is prepared for shipping. Maybe AT&T is just a little behind the times. Order was through Apple by the way.

UPDATE: I just got the second email and mine is now updated. Getting very excited:)

Relax. It's a phone not a perishable like fine wine, cheese, or steaks.

On their website, Apple says the maximum non-operational temperature is 113 deg. Fahrenheit. My guess is that there's a buffer built into their numbers and the handset could survive higher temperatures.

In any case, a large warehouse isn't going to heat up that fast, nor will the contents inside shipping boxes. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

Pre-authorization does not mean the same thing as reserving, if you reserved a phone at a apple store as long as you get there on the 24th to get it while they are open you will be good.

Sorry, but I've had several clients receive electronics that have not done well in the heat of the summer after sitting in FedEx and UPS warehouses over weekends. This includes: Dell PCs, Wireless routers (multiple brands), phones (multiple brands), LCD monitors, etc.

It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you...

And not that it matters, nor is any of your damn business, but my panties are just fine TYVM.

:p

My ships what ever and arrives on the 24th ? What is that all about. On the original order it said delivered by 2nd July, then changed to this 6th - 7th July. ordered only 32 minutes after the other iPhone which delivers 24th.

It it really worth buying? The phone plan will be mighty high with video calling and all the new features. That might be a turnoff to regular phone people. I do like the new design and the front camera. My ipad's data plan is $30 a month emagen the video calling cost?? should I buy one?

FaceTime doesn't cost extra, but you need to be connected to a WiFi network to use it.

But far too often WiFi networks do cost extra. ;)

That's why I have Verizon 3G cards in my laptops. I pay something up front, but I know that virtually anywhere I go I can simply connect and go.

I did pay for service on a recent San Francisco -> Miami flight on American. $9.95 for the whole flight, and I got 1.5 Mbps download and 512 Kbps upload - not too shabby. For 2 bucks an hour, worth it.
