black otterbox defender for sale

hey guys,

I have a black one for sale for $45 CAD + shipping (used for one week)! PM me if anybody is interested!

Best Buy in Vineland NJ has all 3 colors, Best Buy in Mays Landing NJ has blue and red with black coming monday. FYI

The Big Red One :)

Picked up the red today, like it a lot. Better than the black one I had on my 3GS.

First I bought a blue one, installed it during lunch, end of lunch, back to BB to return it, dock port didn't close easily, silicon just wasn't fitting that well on the frame.

Exchanged it for red, at first I wouldn't have picked red, but once I installed it, turns out, to my surprise, I actually prefer it to blk and blue.

What I like about this version is: redesigned port covers, they really stay closed. The new screen protector seems to have a very slight anti glare to it, and no watermarks.

Like the new look with the volume buttons.

Like the textured back.

They designed the plastic at the top of the screen to make it way easier to do the fast up scroll, a problem in last version.

Though I don't use it, holster is much improved.

Only thing I'd wish for is the rear camera lense to have a clear covering to keep it scratch free. Still a little hard to get to the extreme edges and corners with your fingers, but it seems better than before.

I'm really happy with it so far, it's nice knowing if my phone takes a nasty spill, I have little to worry about.

does anybody know if the otterbox defender is compatible with the powersupport crystal film set? i'm thinking about hot swapping cases for when i don't need as much protection, but i've seen youtube videos of people getting an oil slick effect if they left their zagg on with the new otterbox.

bump on this question now that more people are getting their otterboxes..

Yea, they definitely have them at BB. Went to two this weekend, the first only had blue and red but the one I went to tonight had the black too, which is what I was looking for. One of the employees told me they got them in Thursday.

Has anyone called otterbox about the commuter and impact almost ready... or anything about them I bought a defender, but I'm deciding which other case as my DD, and the defender is for mountain biking or anything to be safer. :)

First impressions

I just received my black otterbox defender case yesterday 3+ weeks after placing my order and promptly returned my incipio case to radioshack for a full refund. It cost me only $40 bucks with the coupon code/free shipping and the $5 courtesy discount for the delay This is my first otterbox case, and it is much smaller than expected. I had a zagg on the front part of the screen and when I put it in the otterbox, I had the 'watermark' effect I've heard so much about. After removing the crappy zag, the phone fit perfectly and the watermark is gone. I do notice the slightest rainbowing on the screen protector, but I really had to look hard to see it. The screen protector seems flimsy and doesn't sit perfectly flush against the phone, but is responsive and so far doesn't annoy me. The ugly belt clip is huge so I'm glad the case is small enough to still fit in my pocket. The silicone pieces that snap into place take some coaxing, especially the around the dock input. To those folks that complain that the silicone doesn't cover the speakers/mic/noise cancelling hole, I'd hate to open and close them incessently. The case molding is correctly sized and do not interfere with the flash. I'd recommend this case to anyone who doesn't mind a little added bulk to protect their prized investment. The case is sleek and well made. Overall, I'm very happy with the case and it was worth the wait.

Nice review. I picked one up at BB on Friday and so far I really like it. I had one for my 3G and abandoned it pretty quickly. Couldn't deal with the oil slick issues, poorly designed screen protector that cause issues pressing things near the edges or the corners or the excessive bulk. The iP4 version doesn't seem to have either issue.

It obviously adds bulk, but given my active lifestyle I think it makes sense. I went for a 30 mile roadbike ride yesterday and was completely comfortable just chucking it in my jersey pocket. Before the OB I would have it in a case and then in a neoprene pouch.

I think it is a little bit of a shame to cover up the beauty of the iP4, but I've really never been one to flaunt my cook gadgets. I don't hide them, but I sure don't flaunt them.

is there anyone that is willing to pickup a red one for me and ship it? ill paypal the money for the case, shipping and a friendly thank you fee.

Steve,

I'm a biker myself, and have put my naked phone in a plastic ziplock bag during rides. Good to hear it'll hold up in a jersey pocket. I'd be a little worried when I'm sweating buckets though.

You are 100% correct. It got a little sweaty yesterday. Moving forward it will go in a ziploc when I am road biking. Just got back from spending a couple hours bombing around town on my Mountainbike....too windy for road biking today...and it went into the nice little padded pocket on my Camelbak Mule that was designed just for that purpose.

We do quite a bit of hiking to. The OB will work awesome there too.

I got the black OB from bestbuy. Now i can use the phone like any other phone that doesnt break on falling from a foot
- no watermarks at all without any screen protectors
- no watermarks with power suppot crystal. I couldnt even tell i had it on.
- both cameras work perfectly
- Does add some bulk. I cant comfortably hold it with one hand and use it (streches my thumb slightly)
- Attracts lint and pulls out my jeans pocket
- Screen had some friction for first hour or so, after that its smooth as the actual screen

I do like it, but unlike my 3GS in an OB, I can't comfortably hold the phone and surf one handed, the right back edge slips too easily against my hand.

I was hoping the case would round the back edge a little, but they kept the same sharp back edge that the naked phone has.

I love the phone to death, but there's just no way I can say it's as comfortable to hold as the 3GS. And the OB just makes it even less comfortable.

You'd probably get it faster just by calling your closest BB every day, most of them have plenty, as your local store likely will in a day or 2.

Here's a few pics of an iPhone in a Defender next to one without a case.

Looks like I may be in the minority but I think this thing looks hideous. It does look like it 'should' protect the phone well enough, though. I just cannot get over the 'Michelin Man' look of this thing.

I got the bumper through the case program and, although it may not protect as well as the Defender, it does not completely hide the iPhone's style. I was not happy with the bulk the bumper added, the Defender would drive me insane!

I picked a black one up at bestbuy on Friday and returned it yesterday. It really is a great case for protection, but its so damn bulky its rediculous. It really takes away from the overall design of the phone and the fact that it is now thinner than the older phones. Im waiting and hoping I like the commuter like i did for my 3gs

After ordering my Otterbox on the 28th of July, it FINALLY shipped on the 12th. I should have it on the 17th. Hopefully it's worth the wait lol. I checked all my local Best Buy stores and none of them are in stock so I couldn't cut my wait time either.
