Is any one else having a problem with the silicone on this case? mine seems to be stretching and it is starting to get enjoying, it is at the point that it there is a gap around the screen, and the lower corners don't go in no more without lifting the back...

Yea, mine's doing the same thing. You would think that for the price you pay for one of these, the silicone oversleeve would fit nice...but it doesn't.

Well my Defender paid for itself and a little more today.

Accidentally left the damn phone on the roof of my car today and drove off. Hear a loud thud. Phone hit the asphalt. The rubber layer of the Defender got some dents and peelings from the impact. Phone is perfectly OK. I expected at least something in the innards to come loose, but vigorous shaking of the phone yielded no rattle. So good shock absorption!

$300 saved.

However I do detect one flaw with the Otterbox. Had the silicone not been of the slick variety that it is, there would have been no fall to begin with.

A similar situation (yes, I'm an idiot whose hands are usually too full) took place with my iPhone 3G, but that was inside a DLO silicone case. It gripped the roof of my car the entire 50 MPH 15 minute drive home from work.

It would be nice for the case to be able to just grip but its better that it doesn't in a sence cause if it was black silicone that thing would collect so much lint.

If the otterbox don't fall to begin with, what is going to happen, it will fall off at the freeway speed, or fall off un-notice and get run over by other car.:D Consider yourself very lucky.

i just saw some fake Defenders at the mall. Well I think they are fake as the guy for one has no real box for it (comes in plastic bag). He wants $55 for them but will give me a deal at $45.

^^^^^Totally FAKE! Do not buy one of these for $45.....heck I wouldn't buy one for $15. If you are willing to spend $45 go ahead and get real one.

when I confronted him about it and said "Wal-Mart" carries a Defender for the i4 he just said that one is not the same Otterbox. The guy probably paid $1 or less for each of these cases and marks them up for $45. He said it is "guranteed" to be Otterbox, he just doesn't have the boxes for them :p

I changed to the free PixelSkin HD from Apple yesterday when it came in the mail, and within 12 hours I ran back to my Defender. I love this case so much for some reason, and I'm not even in rugged environments nor need all this protection<3

Otterbox is definitely a strong case, but I think I am only going to use it for travel. It is just too big for me and everyday use. I got the free bumper from apple, and it is actually not that bad. But if you really need that much protection, you can't go wrong with it

I been using the Defender since I got it a few weeks ago and did not take it off yet. It still looks brand new and so does my phone. I tried using the holster but it kind of bulges or sticks out from under my shirt so I keep it in my pocket. Bulky? A little, but it's pretty light so it's not a problem to me. I actually like the added bulk because the phone doesn't shift around in my pocket and pretty much stays put.
I am waiting for my clear InCase, but I suspect I'll be using the Defender the majority of the time.

I picked up my Defender today at Best Buy. Minus the belt clip, I really love it. I feel a little safer carrying it at work and throwing it in my purse or backpack. I like the little bit of extra bulk it adds. It's just enough to make it feel less fragile in my hand.

To be fair people, have received genuine Otterboxes without the box.

However, from what I know, the internal first layer is black, not white.

How long did it take for your Pixelskin HD to come in? That's the same one that I ordered from Apple as well. What did you not like about it that sent you back to the otterbox?

I'm going back to the OB Defender this evening. Left the iPhone 4 for a minute and now I'm back and want maximum protection and the OB does just that.

THE LOCK BUTTON! it's practically unusable with the PixelSkin HD. and the case is just too hard and slippery on hard surfaces :(

Just an update from my end:

About a week after receiving my Defender in the mail, I noticed that the fit of the outer skin was just not snug enough. In fact, after some time it became so bad that when I tried to fix it in one area another part of the skin would pull away from the housing.

One e-mail to OtterBox HQ and a new skin was sent to me. I received it yesterday and noticed an immediate improvement over the former skin. So, as good as the cases themselves have been from OB it is important to mention their customer service, which is just as impressive.

I had a similar problem with the outer skin on my Otterbox. I contacted customer service, within a week I received a whole new defender case in the mai. The outer skin fits perfectly now.

Seidio just started taking orders for there rugged case. I'm going to buy it to see if the holster fits the defender. I hope it does because the otterbox commuter works with seidios active holster.

Anyone else have a hard time putting their phone in this case with a Zagg protector on the back of you phones? I can't get mine in the case without Damaging the Zagg protector.:(

I purchased this case for when I'm doing outdoor activities. I plan on using one of my other cases when I'm working in the office settings.

Not sure if I maybe streched my case when I put the silicone on or not or its just the way the case is. But when I put the case in my pocket and pull it out part of the silicone case always comes out and I have to press it back on. Should I contact Otterbox to have them send me a replacement? Thanks.

I had loose silicone and creaky plastic and received a replacement from OtterBox today and can gladly say the new one is MUCH better! no gaps in the silicone where it pops off nor any creaky/clicking sounds with the plastic :D
