Not sure if this has been mentioned before about the Otterbox Defender belt-clip... but pulling back the portion that clips to the belt all the way back till it clicks in to place - you have a nicely angled viewing stand for desktop work in either horizontal or vertical orientation.

Since in design - form follows function - trying to figure out some of the "extra" holes on the belt-clip backside has in store...

Loved the case first couple of days, now its starting to get annoying.
- Seems too bulky
- Sticks in my pocket and pulls it out everytime I take the phone out
- Need to keep the phone on vibrate at work, and I miss every single call, because the case makes it too quite

Think that I had that happen tonight at work as well, had an SMS with the iPhone/Defender combo on my hip - never felt the vibrate :( Missed a free late night nosh with a friend :( LOL

Will have to try the pocket test over the next couple days while I am in my 30 day return period from Best Buy on it. A quick back-pocket test seems that it is ok in the jeans I wear at work mainly. Putting it in was "harder" than taking it out... unless I expanded my pocket to get it in...

Lucky for me at work I can have a ringtone go off as long as it is not very loud... and I set the ringtone according to the priority of the call coming in. But missed vibrates does show us maybe just how durable the Defender design is in the end.

Not sure if this question has been answered or not but does the defender series work with full body screen protectors?

I got an e-mail from Amazon saying I'd get mine next week. I got it for $19 when they had it posted with the incorrect price for a while a month or so ago. :p

If Apple provided us with an option to increase the vib like on every other phone w/o jailbreaking, this would be easily solved :)

Yes ... because Apple should have clearly engineered vibration sensitivity adjustments just in case somebody wanted to wrap the phone in enough body cladding and cushion so as to completly alter the intended form of the device.

That's like saying Ford should include a speedometer adjuster b/c they should just expect people to pull the stock rims off and replace them w/ Big Foot rims/tires.

Guys, you bought one of the most protective cases there is. You want to go throw it off the top off a building, go for it - that's what you bought it for. But don't complain if you can't feel it vibrate.

No...my BlackBerry has a vib adjustment. My mothers regular Nokia phone from 4 years ago has a vib adjustment. Even without the case, I find the iPhone's minimal vib uneffective for email / message notification if I am not paying attention to the phone...no need to flame my comment.

That wasn't a flame. A flame is much more colorful and disrespectful. I am merely disagreeing with you. Mostly for the humor in it as I don't really care one way or the other.

Decided against Defender

Well I had my Defender for about a week and decided to return it today. I was sorta getting used to it and liking it until yesterday when I took the phone out to show it to a friend and I though how awesome it looked... too awesome and sleek to be hidden by that case. I think I'll try a BodyGuardz Full Body Protector Film with the bumper case for a while. Will let you know how that works for me. I really didn't have any problems with the Defender besides that fact that a really cool, sleek and sexy phone shouldn't be hidden!!! Just my personal preference.

Dont you hate how macrumors has become flame central?!!!

I do...and if that comment had been said on HowardForums, I would have arranged for a hard digital slapping LOL

But that's the Apple geek mentality right? Convincing yourself that everything is 100% perfect as it is because that is how it was given to you. No open mindedness, no openness to suggestions to improvements etc...

I simply ask that if a feature which is used in the competition was implemented, there would be no issue of vibrate for ANYBODY, using the case or not...

I stopped using my defender. The case is top notch and if maximum protection is your thing, this case can't be beat by anything currently on the market. I had a defender on my 3gs and it served me well.

The size is what really got to me. I spent slightly over a month using the iP4 without a case and really got used to it being so slim and small. I thought I would get used to the size of the defender, but I haven't.

All in all, otterbox made a great revision to the defender line. Had I not spent so much time without using a case, I likely would still be using the otterbox.

I do enjoy having a holster/belt clip for certain situations so I will be keeping an eye out to see what other companies come out with.

Just nuts.....especially the part where he drops the weight on the phone! If that weight would have tipped side first into the screen the phone would have no chance.

Still an impressive video none the less... That was a 2+ pound weight that was dropped on the iPhone 4. Would have rather seen a 5 foot drop test of the Defender without the cradle though.

I do appreciate everyone's comments on the Defender (pro and con)...but I truly love it. Yes, Apple maybe should make the iphone a less high quality case and face, but this gives users the option of using it naked or within a case.

For me with the Defender, my old, aging hands and fingers appreciate:
1. the little extra bulk.
2. the rubber case...keeping the phone from slipping out of my hands
3. Added protection...of a beautiful piece of electronic art

After the many cell phones and cases I have used over the years...the iPhone is an amazing piece of equipment and the Defender compliments it.

Just my humble opinion!!!

Looks like legit O-Box iP4 Defenders selling for ~$32 shipped on Ebay now.

Not sure how some of the eBay sellers stack up in the end. At least with WorstBuy I have a 30m day return if if I am not happy. Plus I was able to see first hand that that the Defender was not as large as i thought.

In the end we need to support local stores of any sort to see and feel first hand before we buy...

FINALLY got my defender case in today, $35 on eBay. Feels so great to not baby this thing anymore, I'm far from being a gentle person. The new design is sweet and volume buttons very easy to press. Great job otterbox

For as much protection as this case offers, it's not THAT bulky.

Comparison of Defender and Speck Geometric TPU.

+1 for Best Buy, got the red (like it more than the blue and black, looks great, like the raised earphone part to not hit the screen with my face, and 30 day return policy in case I get cold feet.

I haven't ben through as many cases with i4 as I have with any iPhone since 1st gen.

3G/3GS I just had switcheasy then a capsule neo knockoff with custom colors. Both held up fine.

If I go back to any case, it's the Geometric. But I'm really like the Otterbox and all the peace of mind it has to offer. Plus it's nice and grippy.

i miss nearly every call or text at work anyways because of the lightness of the vibrate (even with no case)...it was my only complaint on the 3g and one of my complaints on the ip4. bottom line is the vibrate is weak no matter what situation your in or what case you want (or not want).
