Shipping Address Can Be Updated After 15 Min

For those of you that were able to order your phone, but noticed that Apple will only ship to your AT&T billing address, if you wait 15 minutes after ordering, you can change the shipping address.

I successfully changed it to my work address without any hassle.

Here is the automated response:

Thank you for shopping at the Apple Store online. Your order was
successfully updated. If you requested any additional changes to
this order, you will receive an email confirmation for those changes.

We will let you know by email after each item in your order ships. If
you ordered multiple items, you may receive separate shipments with
no additional shipping charges. Visit Order Status at
http://www.apple.com/OrderStatus to view your order details and track
your shipment.

Best regards,
The Apple Store Team

=/ they took the preorder button down for me as well

I tried all morning on the web with no luck, but I just made a reservation via the iPhone app and it worked fine. I wonder if that means I will still have to wait in a crazy line-up even though I have a reservation. They didn't take my credit card info or anything.

I got sick of trying online, for hours, so I went to my local AT&T store and walked out 20 minutes later with 3 pre-ordered. They'll be shipped to my house on release day.

Funny enough, six other people were in there pre-ordering the same time I was, three other people mentioned how they were frustrated trying to do it online.

Apple store App

I just downloaded the apple store app, and signed in etc.
It let me put a phone on hold for the 24th and my reservation is confirmed, they stated will hold all day for me..... try the app guys.

any success?

Has anyone successfully pre-ordered on a renewing (replace existing phone) account, for delivery on 6/24 to their address?

Seems like all the success has come with reserving for in-store pick-up, which I want to avoid at all costs.

Has anybody registered on the apple site like me and NOT gotten an email confirmation? I was simply brought to a page that told me to bring my ID. I need to know whether or not to try registering again.

i have managed to secure one via the app but when you get the confirmation it says the price $599 i am guessing that is without the 2 year contract. How will they know to change it once i pick it up?

also i thought you can order one per line still trying to get a second

Maybe I shouldn't be so upset that I had to click buttons for an hour and a half to get one reserved, it beats having to wait in a line that long just to reserve one.

Then again, come June 24th we'll see how long the line is at the Apple Store to pick up my phone...Hopefully they will have three lines:

1) Pick up reserved iPhone
2) Buy iPhone without reservation
3) Crap, the new iPhone is being released today? I sure picked the wrong day to stop by the Apple Store to pick up a copy of The Sims.

Or any other piece of software. Not all Apple stores are being slammed. Here in Silicon Valley, the Apple Store in Los Gatos has a lot of traffic but people are not around the block for it.

Went to the AT&T Store to pre-order -- they've got a long list of people who want to pre-order on a legal pad because their internal servers are not working.

Really? It's not like this was unexpected.

On the plus side, the AT&T guys were really pleasant and apologetic.

Did they take your credit card info as well? They wrote mine down. I just hope they do the smart thing and shred the legal pad paper after they put the order through.

Don't try Customer Service

I tried both Apple and AT&T's phone line for Customer Service.. Neither company are taking calls for preorders for iPhone 4 anymore.. the lines are jammed just as badly as the servers.

They told me to go to the store, but since I can't get to the store before the end of the day, I'll probably miss out on the initial offerings and have to wait for their next shipments.

How could they not expect the high volume??

Same here, and I assume they'll check in store. A buddy just called me from an Apple Store saying he walked in to make the reservation (for an subsidized-price-eligible upgrade) and they directed him to the app.

In fact, it seems to me that the AT&T check is what's failing on the website. The only people I personally know who have successfully preordered/reserved have all done it via the app or by physically going to an AT&T store.

I don't care so long as I get that iP4 on d-day!

I was thinking of doing this. Does it say anywhere in the email or anything that this reservation can be canceled? Do you see any reason you will be bound by the reservation (can't cancel) if you do succeed in a pre-order?

Same exact thing here...anyone with success in this scenario? Been trying for four hours now...

my friend was trying for hours, he downloaded the app store app and got it the first time. worth a try.

I just did the same thing (and I'm not an authorized user. Gives me time to get my roommate to make me one and see if he's ok with me extending contract).

AT&T website seems to be working...

Argh, I take it back! I was able to log in and get as far as choosing my new devices.... but now it's down.

It is obviously a problem with Apple communicating with AT&T. The minute you click on anything with the world "eligibility" all hell breaks loose. However, when I started playing the iCorddian on my iPad while waiting I didn't get the "session expired due to inactivity" message. :D

I went to BestBuy and pre-ordered mine and was in and out in 15 minutes. :)

I did this as well. Best Buy opened at 9am, I got there at 9:30, and there store was practically empty; there weren't any customers at their mobile section. So I pre-ordered in about 5-10 minutes and they told me I was the 3rd person on the list. They also told me about their insurance, but it's pretty expensive. Around $15 a month with no deductable, but the square one is $99 for 2 years with $50 deductable.

I got the same thing (though it said $699 since I reserved the 32GB model). I'm assuming that once you get set up in the store and they check your eligibility with ATT (including what data and messaging plan you want) the price will drop to 199/299.

It seems to work because it does not verify your eligibility for the upgrade or your current data plan, as my confirmation e-mail listed the price at $699 and no info under data plan. This is probably why it works, because it bypasses AT&T's server.

Shouldn't be a problem, since that info will be verified on pickup.

Mine too. I'm a little worried though because I checked my reservations on apple.com and it doesn't show up there.
