4.5' too big display, 4.27' of galaxy s2 is ok. guess iphone 4g will have 5' display :D

If the iPhone5 did have a 5" screen, everyone would say it is "just right", yet 4.5 is way too big! I am getting the Infuse and going to give it a shot. Hopefully is has REAL notification profiles that can be set up!

Samsung Infuse 4G. Available 5.15.11 in the States.

As a current iPhone 4 owner I won't make a decision about my next phone until we see what iPhone 5 entails this fall. However, I love the screen on the Infuse (4.5"). The Infuse is also thinner than the iPhone 4 and equal in weight.

Granted their are other factors to consider (Android of course, etc) but I want to play with this model when I can locally. 3.5" screen of the iPhone is just too small for me.

LOL! That Infuse is crazy big! What is the point of a phone that size? Since when did bigger get to be better in the tech world?

Looks nice but I hate how at&t closes off android so you cannot easily side load apps. Plus no gingerbread niceness.

I found when I owned a droidx the size was too big for single handed operation. That is when on the subway holding onto the rail to keep steady I couldn't not easily use my phone. With the iPhone I have no such problem. Other then that I didn't find the droidx ungainly large. I'm not sure I'd want to return to a large form phone like that again however.

All the reports say that you CAN sideload apps on it...

Cool, so at&t has backed off closing off android there. This had a huge impact on amazon's marketplace because you couldn't buy/install any apps from amazon's marketplace. at&t promised that they would fix that, but I had not heard they rolled out an update or if that's still an issue.

It's been confirmed that you can indeed sideload apps, which is a big deal IMO.

Some interesting comments in this thread that these bigger phones are difficult to use with one hand (like on a subway, holding onto a rail). Regardless I will def go to my local AT&T store when this is on display to try it out. You can't deny that the Infuse provides a better browsing experiencing vs. the iPhone 4. It's just a question of how you like all the other elements (OS, etc).

That's not true at all. You don't know what you're talking about. I would not purchase a 5 inch screen. I'm sure the majority wouldn't either.

Agreed. 5" is insane! The largest i'd want the iPhone to go is 4" ever.
For everything bigger, there's the iPad.

Every smartphone except the iPhone's iOS runs an OS with a real notification system :p

Infuse screen looks tremendously better or it could be that one screen's brightness level is higher than the other.

But, that phone looks entirely too large for me to use in one hand. I like to wake up the in the morning and check the news or texts in bed and the iPhone is perfect. I can't imagine using the Infuse like that.

4.5" seems a bit too much. I tried a galaxy s 2 out in a store, that was really nice. I had to convince myself to wait until WWDC before I get one, just in case iOS 5 is worth waiting for.

Yeah, I think 3.5" to 4" is good. My backup HTC Surround is 3.8" and that's enough for me.

Don't say that to the millions of people who are using far larger and heavier 10" iPads, to read news or texts in bed every night and morning.

:)

The killer iPhone feature for me is the integration of iTunes within the phone itself. I workout to podcasts 5 days a week and I've grown very fond of simply downloading and deleting said podcasts with a tap and later a swipe and tap.

I'm sure there are ways to get podcasts on an Android device (without having to connect to my computer) but my guess is that it will always be easier with an iPhone due to iTunes integration. I could also use an iTouch at the gym but then I'd have to carry two devices with me there at all times (phone and iTouch) vs. just an iPhone currently.

However I also feel strongly that 3.5" is simply too small. I can't browse sites like Huff Post or NY Times comfortably. I'm sure I could with the Infuse and that screen. Probably would never have to rely on mobile versions of websites ever again.

I won't decide until I see what iPhone 5 has to offer. But if Apple is simply upgrading the internals and not making the screen at least 4" big, I might just have to jump ship.

Haha, I meant for one handed use when I roll over to the side to grab my device.

*grin* Actually, I do understand quite well.

Often I wake up with my spouse laying under one arm. So I have to use the iPod touch I keep by the bed with just one hand.

I must say, though, when using a touchscreen one-handed I quite often miss having a separate cursor/trackpad. Flicking with a thumb often accidentally chooses an item. Not to mention that it covers up the screen.

It would be very useful if the iOS home button could also double as a surface trackpad as is done on some other phones. You wouldn't have to use it, but boy when you need it, it's great to be able to scroll by moving your thumb only a fraction of an inch over a button and not all over the screen.

So my question is, If every iPhone from here on out had a 5 inch screen, no one would buy it? Yeah right.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

^^ Well I certainly wouldn't: there's no way I would want to carry round a phone with a 5" screen. I honestly can't imagine it happening, but if it did I'd probably move to WebOS

Wait, I edit my question to 4.5 inch. I thought that Samsung was inch.

Im a long time android user (G1, mytouch, Samsung Galaxy S, Nexus S, myTouch 4G) here are my thoughts:

- Touchwiz is so horrible that the argument should end there (Assuming this device has touchwiz, I doubt it will be stock android)
- Super Amoled is great for video and games, awful for text. I would say retina beats it overall.
- Samsung phones are battery hogs. Be prepared to always require a 3-hour mid day charge if you use your phone often. Vacations are tough on Samsung phones. You'll almost need to buy a second battery.
- Good luck every getting an Android update ever, if not it will be 6 months behind. Think about how many times the iPhone gets a software update over the life of a typical android phone. This is important when your phone is riddled with bugs like Touchwiz is.
