As much as I want to see a redesigned iPhone...Feels like Apple might pull another FCPX type PR disaster if they end up only releasing a spec bumped 4S.

The 1 one the phone is "one missed "call" " And this is in reference to Steve Jobs not attending along with a small tribute to him lead by Tim Cook with a welcoming of Cook by the rest of the Apple employes

Not sure what all the fuss is about here, the beauty of the iPhone is more concentrated in its software and useability that its form factor. On top of that the iPhone 4 is the most beautifully designed product they ever put out. Even though I would have liked a slightly larger screen, more speed and an improved OS is more than enough for me. Shame I am only 1 year into my contract, so can't get it anyway.

I read a comment here about the iPhone 4 being plenty fast enough. I disagree, mine could be significantly more responsive than it is.

Why do people keep saying the new iPhone was delayed? A delay means Apple promised one thing and delivered another. Apple never promised anyone a new iPhone in July of 2011, or a new iPhone every 12 months.

Give it up son, this argument is getting old.

I have to ask how so many here seem to have come to the conclusion that people want a bigger screen on their phones. Don't both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS carry a 3.5" screen? Aren't these two handsets the number one and number two best selling smartphone worldwide?
Vote if you haven't.

The fact that everyone other smartphone on the planet sports 4" and up says nothing to you?

I want a new design because my home button is acting up again and want a bigger screen. Already got 1 replacement for the home button issue. I think there is still a good chance we get a new design because the stock isn't doing anything today. I think the market expectation is a new design and 30m phones sold. Just don't think the same old design will have the wow factor. If that's all we get, Apple stock will take a big hit tomorrow.

In the words of George Michael "you gotta have faith"

Apple knows that a spec bump in this market is not a good thing. People, particularly IPhone 4 owners will be dissapointed with a spec bump and you must realise that people need to have a visual difference to warrant a new purchase. I would feel like Apple's potential for a new device would have been wasted considering the length of time between the IPhone 4 and which ever we will see tomorrow.

All this shows is either Vodafone are using their placeholders, they have information from Apple on the 4S or all of it is just a guess.

It could be that Apple has told carriers of a 4s but not about a 5 because they decided to keep that secret up until the last moment. My money is on Apple having a 4s and a 5 tomorrow.

Why do people want a redesign so much? It seems like people just want their new iPhone to look different just to look different/distinguished.

i get tired of things easily, i change the look of my OS every few months and my wallpaper nearly every day. i love to unpack new things i havent had before and i already cant stand when software isnt up to date either. its just the feel of getting new things. i dont want to own the same phone twice. but thats just me

I am guessing we only see a iPhone 4S with a faster processor and ?? more ram and better camera.

Then next June we will see iPhone 5.

YET MORE PROOF OF AN IPHONE 4S. Sorry guys, no iPhone 5 this year. It was always, always going to be a 4S.

I don't understand the disappointment - buy it if you want / need it, don't if you don't. Why would Apple "lose" you if there's not a new design? They don't "owe" you anything to begin with.

Indeed, it's puzzling that so many seem to be acting like spoilt children. You're going to abandon the iphone if it's not redesigned? Good, no need to tell anyone about it, they don't care. The design is fine as it is.

There is no iphone5 this year. Leaks would have come, I've been been following their releases for a decade, nothing has ever really been announced totally out of the blue and especially not now in the age of media everywhere, leaks etc. Should be a fun event! Still vv happy with my 3, but we will see :)

Just to add we have now had the same type of leaks as the IPad 2. A physical mock up, cases and some shots of possible internals (A5 chip etc in ip4 housing)

There was no pictures of an IPad 2 anywhere if I remember correctly. So how much belief did you invest in an IPad 2 based on what you saw? :)

It's ok. It is your Teutonic Tendencies. It's a German thing. I'm 1st Generation in the US. My parents were from Dortmund. I resist the same feelings daily. Need to be controlled. Never go away. :apple:

I live in NYC area, where do you live?

I have yet to meet a lady who cares about the screen size of her iPhone. As a matter of fact, even most non-techie guys don't care, because they apparently have something called a life, and 'hardcode' thumb driven gaming is last on their mind.

Just one comment about screen size:

I live in Brazil and a major website in here included a poll in one of their iphone news where people could choose what they wanted in the next generation iphone.

People can only select one option between better battery life, adobe flash support, brazilian itunes store, bigger screen, 4G, dual core processor, NFC, more megapixels, thinner design, curved design, better screen resolution and more storage.

A bigger screen size is the 4th most wanted feature only behind better battery life, adobe flash support and a brazilian itunes store (we don't have music store here).

Since flash is out of question and the itunes store issue is a local problem, the bigger screen is the 2nd most desired feature.. Again this results coming from a news portal so not as biased as polls in tech websites. As of now it's been answered by almost 14 thousand people.

Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://tecnologia.uol.com.br/album/enquete.jhtm?album=iPhone5_enquete&idEnquete=1439#r

Apple is hoping the new iOS5 features that will require an A5 processor will "force" one to upgrade.

Then next June we will see the "4G" version in the iPhone 5. I bet we see no 4G stuff but will dual mode phone(ie one version for ATT and Verizon).

I will likely wait as the iphone4 works great. No need to jump on just incremental updates.

Since when has apple (or any major money making organisation for that matter) cared about what the consumer actually wants?

Apple more than any other compnay has proven it can put out high priced , minor updates every year and have record sales, if they slapped an apple logo on a turd and called it the iDump enough people would buy it and swear blind it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Dont get me wrong, i like my macbook pro, but im not a blind apple follower, my MBP is the old one, not the unibody, it does its job, and i dont need to upgade it to fit in with the crowd, if the iPhone 1 had 3G network capability i would never have upgraded to a 3Gs, if the 3Gs/4 had better battery life i would probably have upgrade to the 4, or maybe even stayed with the 3Gs instead of having a Samsung Galaxy SII (android OS sucks, but my phone now lasts 16hrs on a single charge instead of 6-8hrs).

I love my iPad too, but see no need to shell out on an iPad 2 a year later.

Apple has created an expectation in its "devout followers" that there will be a new model every year, and that they must buy it or else be "unworthy" or something, its quite disturbing actually, i remember the days when you bought something that expensive, and you expected it to last 5-10 years, now 18months passes and people are looking at the tech they bought as if owning it is the same as being hitlers best mate and going out on puppy killing nights. madness.

what happened to the days when you bought something and was happy with it until it no longer fullfilled the purpose it was purchased, or until it broke.
That's not the issue of the conversation and not what I was trying to get at. I was rebutting the fact that this person saw ,from Apples point of veiw, a cheaper phone (in turn a more profitable) is considered a such a great thing that he or she had!!!! to buy it. I was simply saying ( if u had followed the chain of conversation) that why is that so important to the consumer??? Why?

I don't think this rules out an iphone5, but merely confirms an iphone 4s or lower end phone.

I don't really know. I guess we will find out in 1 day.

Still hoping for 4G. :)

Aargh! Stop saying teardrop when you mean wedge!!!!!

Just what we need, a wedgie from Apple.

Then iphone really is becoming "my father's phone". More of an embarrassment than point of pride, unless you are too old to really care that is.

iPhones are in at a warehouse in PA where my friend works. They are wrapped in orange plastic and will be shipping out tomorrow after the event. I asked if he knew if it was the iPhone 5 and he said when he asked Apple the guy didn't say anything but smiled. At least I know they are in and will be shipping tomorrow. This is the same friend that told me the iPad2 was in and shipping the next day.

They're going to ship all those iPhones without an OS?
