I don't think anyone knows what the next iphone looks like, except for major people at apple. These carriers may have some basic info. They are guessing on the names base on rumor sites like macrumors. We'll know for sure tomorrow!;)

You are completely wrong. Thousands of workers in China know as by now 100s of thousands of iPhone 5s have been made. The boxes have been designed and produced, with a nice glossy picture of the phone on each one of them. Probably phones are already packaged in them and are sitting in a staging warehouse in China. The fact that no definitive new form factor has been leaked should tell you all you need to know about what is being announced tomorrow.

The invite even says there will be a 5 if you look at it. The date is 4, then a PLUS sign and a 1. The plus sign is between the icons.

Wow! you sure do have quite an imagination. The date's a date. The #1 by the phone means there's only 'one iPhone' model covering all providers. "Let's talk iPhone" simply means speech recognition has been incorporated.

I'm surprised that you didn't point out that the cross formed by the highways means that the new iPhone has been personally blessed by Christ himself.

Obviously there not going to "dump" their iphone 4s as you say, but if they have to way another 8-12 months for the 5 then im pretty sure they will upgrade to something else. Its common sense thats the guarantee of my guarantee!

It's funny how all the people who will just keep their iPhone 4, or upgrade to a 4s (which is 'just' faster), or wait for the 5 are insignificant, but hoo boy, all of those customers who are going to flee are trouble for Apple. I suppose it's possible, let's check the evidence:

You went from 'guarantee Apple will lose a LOT (!) of customers' to 'pretty sure' based on the evidence of 'common sense'. That's all I needed to know.

There will be a redesigned iPhone 5 on Tuesday. :)

Yeah we got your point. Please stop keep spamming with the same comment over and over.

It's Life

Maybe it's just me but I'm happy as I will upgrade. I'm still on a 3g with IOS3 so anything will be nice!

I've been on a 3GS for close to 2 years now. You might not realise this, but it's a rare breed of people that upgrade their phones about once a year. Most people just upgrade when their contract ends.

Stuck with a 4 for over a year? Oh heavens to Betsey! How do you live in a world where you don't get a new phone every six months??

I'm going on 8 years with a Palm Treo 755! And I can't wait for the 4S baby!

heyy! some people do. lol.
everyone has some kind of an obsession with something.
and
me being one of them.. lol

If they're getting rid of iPod Classic, then they sure as hell better be bumping up the space on the iPhone.

Everyone on here complains everytime apple doesnt do what the rumor sites suggest is possible then they turn around and preorder the moment they become available. NO matter what apple does tommorrow they will sell more iphones in the first quarter that they become available than they ever have. That is the game. Moving units. If they can do that with a proven design whose costs of production have probably dropped since they have been getting produced for the last 16 months than they will do it. They will probably get a 40-45% margin on the 4S.

If Apple announces a "4S" tomorrow, they will sell millions of phones anyway. If they announce a 5 tomorrow, they will say MORE millions.

As you said, Apple's main goal is to "move units". They would "move" MORE "units" if they weren't lazyasses and went through with a new design. You can see a thread full of people who'll be getting the SG2 if Apple doesn't release a 5...and that's a very minuscule percentage of the people that are actually going to abandon ship. I've always been a devout iPhonian. Apple will lose ME if they release a 4S, and I'm INSANE about the iPhone. Just imagine all those people who have no brand loyalty, they aren't going to sit around and use an antiquated machine with a 3.5 in screen. This isn't 2007 anymore.

Soooooo?

Soooooo, we all might have just waited all those extra months JUST FOR A REVAMPED VERSION OF OUR CURRENT PHONE? God I hope not!! Hope Apple doesn't let us down!

Common sense is guarantee among people who have it! I rest my case...

So let me get this straight. Inventory listings are often based upon the "same rumors we've been reading". So when Vodafone updates their inventory based upon the "same rumors we've been reading", it is suddenly further proof of the iPhone-4S-only because it "lines up nicely with the rumors we've been hearing"?

Well, obviously - it's a circular argument. If the inventory entries are based on rumors then of course the two will line up nicely.

iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, I care not. I have to upgrade. Still on the 1st Generation iPhone (16BG) and it is SLOW! I've actually wanted to switch ever since Verizon got the iPhone, but since it was so close to summer and the usual new phone announcements, I held out. Never dreamed it would be pushed back so far, but still glad I waited.

Do I want something different? I suppose I do (just a little) ... mainly because Apple's MO is that they bring out something NEW and it's always BETTER. Mainly... mostly... not always. I can think of a few head-scratches in my time.

So we've waited until October to find out about a revamped iPhone 4. Something tells me that not only are the changes/upgrades to the iPods going to be quite small, I wouldn't doubt if the rumors were true and one or two of them getting the AXE. I don't agree with it but I can see how it could happen, especially the Shuffle. I checked out the Shuffle and the Nano yesterday in Wal-Mart and the side-by-side comparison to me is that the Nano is pretty darn small. Small enough to work just fine as a walking/jogging/exercising iPod. Apple really doesn't need a $49 iPod. They own the music player market. Still if they jettison the player, I might have to plunk down a Grant anyway and get one while they're still available.

then you live in a cave

I live in NYC area, where do you live?

I have yet to meet a lady who cares about the screen size of her iPhone. As a matter of fact, even most non-techie guys don't care, because they apparently have something called a life, and 'hardcode' thumb driven gaming is last on their mind.

If Apple announces a "4S" tomorrow, they will sell millions of phones anyway. If they announce a 5 tomorrow, they will say MORE millions.

Compare this to how many millions they will move if there's a '4s' tomorrow and a 5 later, divided by the cost (and feasibility) of doing so in both cases, in the context of the current market and Apple's long-term sustainability. Otherwise they should just release the iPhone 17 tomorrow.

You can see a thread full of people who'll be getting the SG2 if Apple doesn't release a 5...

selection bias, unreliable sample, no real evidence to support this claim, etc. etc.

All that effort of doing nothing - wasted!

It's funny that people are ignoring the few carriers that are expecting a 4" iPhone 5 based on speculation but are seeing those carriers that choose to advertise the known to exist 4S (by everyone) as evidence no 5 exists. Carriers listing anything doesn't raise or lower the likelihood of any one model appearing because they are functioning on the same rumors as we are. The execs know but they aren't putting their knowledge on their website. There may not even be a 64GB model. They are just guessing.

it is only a marketing thing...

(first, sorry about the horrible english i write... reading and understanding is no problem to me but writing is)

T-Mobile and Vodafone are the two biggest german providers.
Each one with nearly identical 35 million customers...
T-Mobile does pre reservations for the next iPhone since weeks if you ask on the hotline... this is there marketing thing...

and now Vodafone makes the customers to look at them...

it's a game... alway the same here in germany

in fact, there are no informations about what comes out...nor to t-mobile and nor to Vodafone... we (i am a t-mobile employee) do not know what is coming...

so Vodafone uses iPhone 4s only as a placeholder...
because it is the most likely device that is coming.
16 32 and 64 GB is only that they make sure to have enough placeholders for a eventually 64GB model

Technically Vodafone isn't the biggest German provider, it is (if you exclude China) the biggest network in the world, so if they have made a mistake, it would look embarrassing

Why do people want a redesign so much? It seems like people just want their new iPhone to look different just to look different/distinguished.

I don't understand the disappointment - buy it if you want / need it, don't if you don't. Why would Apple "lose" you if there's not a new design? They don't "owe" you anything to begin with.

I want HSPA+, add that to my free tethering and I'm leaving DSL
