If you connected the phone and used it in iTunes, then iTunes should have a record of the serial number and all that crap.

Find out where that is stored and provide them with that information.

You never indicated if you have the box with the serial number and IEMI number on it either, they should take that. What about your provider? do they have record of what you had activated on their network?

Otherwise I would suggest doing what I mentioned and calling Apple, stating you need to speak with Bill Frederick (VP of Apple Care) regarding a problem you are having with your Executive Level case. You will get his voicemail, and so leave him a message stating you are having issues with your case and wish to speak to someone else about it.

There's certain suspicions that, even if you have them, should really be kept to yourself.

If it was a lie, why bother telling MacRumors forums? You'd just get on with it would you not?

No. You're more likely to get Apple to fold if you can generate media attention. Companies value their image, if you don't put it at risk, they're unlikely to resolve claims that they doubt.

Notice OP just registered an account.....

Hmm. It's too easy on the internet to dismiss a post or thread as make believe, but looking back over the thread, there have been suggestions made and questions asked which haven't been answered.

1. The iPhone was sent back in Apple's pre-paid envelope/box. So he should have the original box.

2. If the phone was bought from someone as-new, it has a receipt yes?

3. If it was connected to iTunes, then the back up should identify the model and serial number.

It would be good if the OP could check out these things.

1) Correct -- he claimed he couldn't show us (and i presume Apple) the IEMI & S/N because he couldn't take a photo of it

2) He bought it from a third party that, according to his msg, wasn't an authorized Apple dealer.

3) Correct -- or the box. Again, his failure to address this is why my brain screams fraud.

RadioactivePaul -- would you care to address these concerns?

On saying all of that ... the return address is in the UK.

Why would an Apple returns depot in the UK have AT&T American iPhone 4's in their warehouse? It's easy enough to say he received another persons phone back instead of his own, but this is UK returns ... they wouldn't deal with AT&T contracted phones in the first place would they? Although the Apple warranty is worldwide.

Emailed Bill directly, thanks.

Nothing to take a photo of it with however wouldn't mind shipping it to Apple, no problem at all

Already been provided to Apple and verified, anyway straight away the purchase of the device can be authenticated simply by looking up the purchase via the Apple store receipt - None of which Apple cares for

Apple don't care about this, they way they see it, I sent them an iPhone 4 - Things like receipt, IMEI, serial number etc aren't likely to change their opinion on the matter as demonstrated time and time again already

Is there a thing like small claims court over there? Try that.

I had a similar situation, I bought an iphone, it said on fedex page it was delivered, but I never got it. After 10 or so calls with apple and fedex, I got nowhere, they were both saying call the other one. Then I asked for superviser at apple, told him i'll contact every possible website, and after a few other calls, a week later i got an iphone.

Anyways, stick to it man, threaten them with lawsuit, or with something.

She asked me if I maybe sent an iPhone 4 by mistake, Yes of course I did /sarcasm - I do have an iPhone 4, is it black and scratched? Hell no, it's white and in pristine condition because I actually take care of my possessions.

Didn't you say you had a pristine white iPhone 4? Take the picture with that... Or borrow a camera.

* I wouldn't have a problem shipping the box to them via an alternative method (UPS)

I do possess an iPhone 4, in another location however. Photographic evidence isn't the issue here, Apple know I purchased the 4S.

I'm not doubting you... just pointing out that you could take a picture.

i had a recorded special delivery sent to me last year, it was a card with a grand in it, i recieved it ripped to pieces, and selotaped back together, i complained to royal mail because this was recorded, after 4 months of fighting them to find out who did this they sent me an apology letter and offered me £40 compensation, i phoned up spoke to some guy and told him to go EFF himself with it, you'l never see your phone again and no one will ever believe you, if you want to send something properly you need to use UPS, who have never failed me, or you could use another special delivery company

It's against the law to send cash in the post in UK, so more fool you.

Anyway, on topic. I sure do hope you get your phone back, i'd be wanting to enquire with apple as to registered devices on your account. If you can identify the iPhone 4S 64GB and prove you haven't sold it etc, that may help a little. Also ask them to prove that you have an AT&T iPhone 4 registered to your name.

You have to understand that Apple send him pre-paid package , so he has to use this package provided by them. Is funny but in the past they been using only UPS.Thats why I buy everything from Apple in Apple store and if there is some problem I come back to the same store.

Yes, however, if you provide the packaging in the box you wanted to pay for UPS because you didn't trust RM, then it should be fine.

We don't all have stores close to us. I am not making a round trip of 2 hours to an Apple Store every week.

Actually, you can ship in any packaging as long as it goes to the right place. Apple's package picks up the cost.

Response from a lady today whom has taken my side in the case and agrees no fault is mine.

Now dealing with with an individual above Margaret :D

I'm keeping my cool at the moment because my father took his own life this month and I really don't need any more stress

Wow. This hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm horribly sorry to read this, and even though I don't know you, I hope you and your family are doing well. Stay strong.

Thank you very much.

We are coping so far, I am still in denial myself but that is easier for a seventeen year old I guess in comparison to an adult whom has probably went through bereavement before.

I want to see a picture of the 4S box... I don't doubt you, but this seems shady. You obviously have a family. One of them must have a camera phone. Post the 4S box with your username next to it.

No offence, but why should I care about your approval?

But to answer your concern, yes I do have a family, a family whom is currently divided in two. I reside with my mother, she does not possess a mobile phone, at all. So no, I don't actually have access to a device to capture such an image; it's not my worry either to run about obtaining a device for this purpose, why should I? I've done nothing wrong.

To all those whom doubt: The police were informed, there's nothing shady at all - I'm not an idiot, the economy is bad enough without fools taking advantage of a large company hoping it'll go unnoticed.

Akkkmed has as much right to be here as you do. I personally don't find it hard to believe that someone wouldn't trust this story. We all know that nothing on the internet is false or misleading, right?

Personally, I have no reason to doubt the o.p.. If Akkkmed pushes to have a picture posted and the o.p. pushes back just as hard to NOT post one, then that makes me question things a little, but that hasn't happened yet.

Exactly. That's what I'm getting at...
