The Android Galaxy series are looking more and more attractive now, as they're so much easier to get, and they're selling for a lot more reasonable prices in New Zealand. I would like to get an iPhone, but its not looking feasible without blowing an extra $200-$400 to get one with a decent storage capacity :(

Go ahead if you want, I did. Then after 2 weeks it went on TradeMe... ;)

Firstly, grow up.

Secondly, no-one is going to be able to tell you anything other than what Apple has announced. If you want to impress your buddies at school, the only way to get it before anyone else is to fly to Australia and get one there. Who is to blame? Probably Vodafone. Will they loose my business? Probably - their contract subsidies are hardly compelling anymore (in fact they are basically non existent on the cheaper plans), so if we don't get a launch date soon, I may just follow my own advice (hey, the office is kind of like school - got to be the first one with the new gadget. ;) ).

haha I remember the days of having no responsibilities. Enjoy them while they last. :D
i don't want to impress my friends at school its just that i have 3gs wouldn't you agree its time to upgrade also getting an unlocked iPhone 4s from australia would cost us get plus customs(correct me if i am wrong).I am not as immature as you would like to think either I am a iOS dev in training learn the basics of c then moving to objective c

I just looked on the magnum mac website, and if you want an iPhone 4 in NZ that has more capacity than 8GB you gotta pay ridiculous prices. Basically you need to pay $25 per extra GB, which is insane! Flash memory doesn't cost anywhere near that! I can go out and get a 4GB memory stick for $15-$20, which is less than a quater of the price you pay per GB for iPhone memory. And in theory memory in the iPhone should be cheaper, since its done in bulk and doesn't require extra packaging & shipping like a mem stick would.

So you end up paying $200 extra for a 16GB iPhone (pretty much $200 for 8GB memory) with comes up to $1100 total. Then if you want a 32GB iPhone 4 you have to pay another $180, which is a bit better, at $11 per GB, but its still overpriced, and it pushed the price of a 32GB iPhone 4 to a total of almost $1300:eek:

Yeah I know... I just wish Apple would put some effort into the New Zealand market. Getting official Apple Stores in the country would solve most of the problem, as it'd bypass rip-off 3rd parties like Vodafone and Magnum Mac.

Aw ****. Thats the one I was going to buy... What was wrong with it?

Too many little things that pissed me off to the point where I wanted to chuck it at the wall, no joke. :) Browser crashes when switching from landscape to portrait, battery life, build quality, lag... Spec sheet says its a beast but in real world it doesn't lol.

Agreed. Even if it's just Auckland that gets an Apple store first that would be a huge step.

i have heard from my friend that apple is opening a apple store in silvia park
i have also seen a sign saying new store coming soon at west field in silvia park and i think apple is working on a siri version of nz because they created one for the pavalova stealers ;) that could be why it is delayed?

Really? Nice! You've seen a coming soon sign from Apple? Edit: just re-read your post

Yeah, hopefully Apple is working for an NZ version. lmao at the 'pavlova stealers'. :D. I wouldn't really mind if Apple didn't have Siri for nz on launch, I just want the actual phone lol.

Yeah that'd be awesome. I could buy an iPhone from there and get it couriered down to Wellington :D

there gonna die:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Totally ;)

Oh damn.

Yup. Then there'd be no middle man rip off. We could wish right?

Yeh, I mean, we are a small country, but its not like there is no market here. All the teachers at school use MacBooks, there are iMacs in the computer lab, at my old school they used the iMac G3s, they had an effin MacBook for every senior student and my mates primary school has iPads for the students. There are also a fair amount of people at school that have Macs at home, tons of people I see have iPod Touches or nanos... There's a huge market!

it is strange since we were the first to get the iPhone 3g vodafail failed with the iPhone 4 launch so apple probably has a very unstable relationship vodafail perhaps telecom or 2 degrees could take the 4s after seeing siri used in its full potential i would do almost any thing to get one :(

What I wrote wasn't polite. My Aussie friends have taught me bad things.

It involved sheep and shagging ;)

interesting.....:D

As I have seen someone else written, if Apple wanted to stick it to Vodafone, Apple would be offering the iPhone 4S on their nz website :D.

What I wanna know is why you can only buy the 8GB iPhone 4 on the Apple website. I'd be fine with getting the 4 instead of the 4S, but I need at least a 16GB one! And I'm not giving vodafail 45$ a month or paying the rip off middleman prices. ****ing ridiculous

then why did apple not chose any other carriers like telecom or 2 degrees:confused: I DEMAND ANSWERS

My guess is that Telecom and 2Degrees are New Zealand exclusive companies. Vodafone is a huge company that is based in the UK and other places in Europe and overseas. Apple gave the iPhone to Vodafone without New Zealand in mind, only other, bigger countries that Vodafone is present in. :(

On Yoobee the prices for the iPhone 4 has always been at that price

Doesn't mean they're not rip off.
