iPhone 4S or Galaxy S2?

I love em both but my 4 years experience with apple iphone that has gotten me to switch my computers & actually care about them cause they are AWESOME! I had GS2 unlocked went back to IP4 yeah I know just like every other story on here, but I truly do love these products now, it is ALMOST the perfect phone for me!!

"Siri, iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy S2?"

I couldnt come up with anything after that… :p

Go with the iPhone. iOS is much better than Andrioid.

The SGS2 is just as smooth as the iPhone 4.

Most of what rondz says echos my experience with the SGS2. I use the SGS2 at work as well as the iPhone 4. I have to charge the SGS2 about every 4 hours while the iPhone 4 can go a couple of days without needing to be charged. There is one thing that the SGS2 has that the iPhone 4 does not, is a removal battery. It comes in handy when an app crashes and locks up the Android OS. When that happens the only way to get the Android phone to recover is to remove and reinstall the battery.

Looks good... But how about low light pics?

The 2.4 f-stop on the new iPhone has me pretty impressed though i heard the evo 3d has that too...

The only way to be sure which looks better would be exact same photos under the same conditions.

Either way... I will probably get the S2 and wait for the iPhone 5. Can't live without my 4g/surf while I talk feature.

Here is a low light one.

I can identify a fart app but can an Android user know for certain that the app they are downloading is not a malware app?

Must be the AT&T SGS2. I in no way have to charge mine every 4 hours. You have to have a ton of stuff syncing and checking for update. That will run the battery down fast on any phone. Having all that stuff accessing the net constantly used to kill my iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 in a few hours. Also mine has never crashed or locked up. AT&T cripples their android phones and I bet that's where all the issues come from.

OK I can give some input on this thread. I bought a SGSII 3 days ago and it is going back. The screen is beautiful and it is a very nice phone but it does not have the fit and finish that the iPhone has. The OS is ok but again does not have the polish that the iPhone has. The phone does not have as good of a signal grab as my BB's have had and with the new antenna on the iPhone 4S, I am hoping that it does better.

I returning the phone on Friday and buying a iPhone 4S, it is simply a more refined phone. Plus it will have all of the Cloud functions and will work with my Mac computers, laptop, and iPad2. I must say for me the Apple Brand just works and works with style and function. IMHO

What I don't understand is why do these iPhone fanboys buy android phones when they know they are going to take it back. What's the point? If you wanted a iPhone why not get a iPhone from the jump. I have both because I buy what ever.

I bought the Samsung to see if the grass was greener and it was not. Its going back and I am getting the 4S.

you won't go wrong with either, I love my Android Infuse 4G, but as far as app quality goes the iPhone and ios market is pretty strong.

I'm a fan of customizing my phone and installing roms. If it wasn't for that I would have gotten the iPhone 4.

So if you switch to android permanently you are a great human being. If not you are an apple fanboy. What about people who have been content with the iPhone but wanted something extra or something else and went to android and figured it wasn't their cup of tea?

The number of fandroids in an iPhone forum is astounding. I rarely see an iPhone person talking crap in xda. Looks like the crown of smugness is swapped towards the fandroids.

I'm kind of inclined to agree with this nowadays. It seems like all the hardcore Android fans who care about spec sheets and what things are like on paper are the ones who get extremely defensive about people arguing that something (the iPhone) is better for whatever reason. The hardcore iPhone fans have kind of started to quiet down and aren't as vocal, which is kind of a good thing, since now it doesn't make us look like asses.

Maybe because people actually do the smart thing and try out different brands so that they can decide what works best for them. I guess anyone who buys a Android phone and returns it must be a Apple fanboy

No It's just the way some people talk that make them seem like one. Also a lot of people her say they have tried new android phones and you ask them a simple question about it and they can't answer. A lot of people say they tried a newer droid and they really have not tried it since pre android 2.2. I like all three of my phones and they all have a use.

Most of the ones that try these different brands already have their minds made up.

Exactly!

Also, what if i didn't like android and switched to WP7 instead of iOS? Would i still be "Apple fanboy" ?

Funny fandroids.

Really. How do you know this is for a fact? Did you get a brain reading app on your android phone?

I am currently making the same decision.

I have a verizon i4, and just got a Sprint GSII. I have 14 days to decide to keep the GSII, or exchange it for a 4S.

I do love that big 4.5" screen. It's great for tv shows, and to browse the web. Gaming also rocks on it.

My favorite feature of the Android OS is that apps can access data in the background. It can download weather updates, IMs, feeds, etc.
The iPhone has push, but when you tap the icon it still has to download all the data.

The iPhone however, really has the most support. There is tons of games and apps available. The airplay mirroring is also gonna be great. I can pick a show on air video or a game and just transfer it to my TV wirelessly, now that's amazing!

I really have to try iOS5 before I make a decision. It's gonna be a tough choice.

No I have one for my iPhone 4.

So why are you complaining about the similar treatment here?

I'm not. Where did I complain?

I agree with everything you said and that's why I have both.

Well, this is probably because you use SGS2 and leave iPhone 4 alone (I am not surprised). Obviously iPhone 4, when used, can't last two days.

While iPhone 4's battery life is better than the one for SGS2, the difference is not that drastic.

Moreover, SGS2 actually has much better talk time:

IN person usage beats data from others.

People like us who have tried both know for a fact there is no way any current android can match even WP7 battery life under heavy usage, let alone iPhone 4.

Anandtech is probably one of the most competent tech reviews there are so we generally can trust them. Real life performance will depend on many factors. For example - do you use live wallpapers on Android? what color (dark or light - it's important for OLED screens), is Flash enabled or disabled (obviously, i's always disabled on iPhone). Also, SGS2 being faster at loading web sites, one will be consuming more data and energy (per hour) than when using iPhone.

Who cares about logic? :p While we're at it my SGS3 doesn't even *need* a battery :D
