people will whine bitch and complain about anything. go get an android phone or a windows phone if it suits you better. I've tried android phones and came back to the iPhone. I've owned every iPhone model so far and plan to get a 4s as well.

I'm sorry they didn't change the design. hey did you know it happens to be the best phone designed so far, why change that? if i couldn't sell my iphone4 for so much i might not upgrade but its still worth more than whatever android brick you buy will be worth 3 months from now.

if you don't like it don't buy it. if you don't like iPhones get whatever else you want, thats freedom of choice dummies. sure i'd have liked to seen even more improvements and an iPhone 5, but the reasons people are complaining are pretty much ridiculous.

A nerf football? A little better foam? Really? So a complete upgrade to the antenna system, HSPDA+, dual core processor, probably a memory upgrade to go along with that, better operating system, Siri and probably a couple dozen other technical things I have overlooked, forgotten or don't even know about yet, adds up to a little better Nerf foam? Sorry, but that is pretty lame. I see the 4S as a proper response to the state of the market. I suspect that junking the existing case design in favor of some fairy tale case was probably impossible to do while maintaining the required price structure. Especially since the 4 is still the best design in the market. Of course, you are the guy who thinks Apple has $80 billion in cash from giving away the hardware to make money in the App store. I won't even get into that, but it is clear that business economics is not your strong suit.

The three additional features you could come up with, have all been endlessly debated. I don't really see any of those as adding anything to the phone in the current state of tech. The phone already does Nav the way I want it to, so I don't really agree with the lack of Nav as a shortcoming. I have a nav system in my car and I don't use that very much either. I sort of understand the larger screen, which could be useful if properly implemented, but the complications of an incremental screen size change are apparently enormous. A device with a huge screen is not portable enough. So, my personal opinion is that the screen is the correct size at this time. Just my opinion of course, but there seem to be more than a few that agree. I also suspect that a larger screen was not economically feasible - full case redesign, etc. NFC has security issues and is not ready for prime time. Just saying those things would be nice does not really justify being disappointed if they are not actually feasible. Of course, if you can point me to the perfect device that is all things to all people, I will gladly stand corrected. I am disappointed it does not have a built in light saber, but I am capable of handling that without blaming Apple for letting me down. And just saying "there is a lot more they could have done" is just being contrary unless you can suggest what that is and justify it on all factors, desirability, cost, feasibility, etc. And what makes it your job to define "wow factor" anyway. I will say WOW! if Siri actually works in real life usage. I still have some doubts. But I am definitely interested in the increased speed and I see nothing else for sale at this time that offers more of that. If nobody else can even come close to any "wow factor" in their devices, then why is it you actually feel justified in demanding it from Apple and crying foul when they don't deliver it just for you?

True...We're not the voice of the majority on Mac Rumors, but we are the voice of the many who aren't deaf or blind to Apple's failings. We have large open minds with the ability to form our own opinions, whereas you have small propietry minds and need to be spoon fed your tech like babies...

Lol fail at the apple site?? or were they in that big hurry to get it online that they forgot to save in transparent png ? :p

I'm no longer expecting anything exciting from Apple in this market. This iPhone 4S and its iOS 5 operating system are not even really catching up with the Galaxy S2 or other leading Android phones. They're at least a step behind and all the lawsuits didn't help them stay ahead of the pack.

Siri seems to be the only feature that appears to be worth talking about... But how stupid will you look if you stand somewhere in a city talking to your phone instead of talking to a real person? I cannot imagine any real life uses for such a feature. I have not even played with the similar stuff that Samsung built into their Galaxy phones because I honestly don't care.

The only place where something like Siri would make sense is when you could call your computer at home and tell it over the phone to do something for you. Now -that- could be useful. But why the heck would I want to talk to the phone that I am already holding in my hands?

So you feel ridiculous standing on the street talking to your phone? Exactly how do you use your phone? As a phone I mean. I talk into mine. Generally. It seems to work best that way. There are already apps you can use to control your computer at home from your mobile. I am not sure if your computer at home would understand you talking to it though. Does it understand you now? When you are in the same room I mean? You do realize, I hope, that if you called your computer on the phone and gave it voice commands, that would not be an app on your phone but would be an app on your computer, and would probably work from any phone? I think somebody mentioned "snarky" a little earlier. Sorry if that was snarky. I think it is funny you are already trying to discount a feature we don't really know anything about yet. I have my doubts about Siri also. Seeing something perform in a controlled demo is not the same as using it. It appears however, that most people are completely overlooking the outstanding technological upgrades to the iPhone hardware just because it does not come all wrapped up in a brand new case design.

Sorry, but you see, I don't really even consider the Galaxy S2 to be competitive with the current iPhone, much less a highly improved model. I guess we all have our own needs in a device, but I have never found Samsung's build quality to be more than barely acceptable. Clearly not comparable to the solid glass and steel of the iPhone 4. IMHO. But then I haven't lived with one since I had a completely crappy Samsung flip phone 7 or 8 years ago. I picked up the original iPhone back when it came out and have never seen anything from Android that didn't look like a step backwards from what I was using.

They must have fixed that hours ago as it was not there this afternoon. It is definitely not like that now.

So stoked about the new form factor and OLED displays. Honestly I always thought backlit displays were just a bit inefficient. And the fact that the screen itself is bigger, just what I was waiting for. I can't wait to start using my iPhone for those NFC purchases either.

Thank you, I laughed a lot when I read this...sarcasm is lost on your average Fanboy though...:D

Agreed completly. I do feel abit down about the few upgrades, but how can you make a device good, when its already.... good.. ? That would be hard I think.

lol there will be no rush and shortage of this phone it will be very very very easy to get due to low demand

by the way how do i tell the black 4s from a black 4??:confused:

I use all kinds of tech and I am not blind to the mistakes that Apple makes. They have made a bunch of them over the years in my opinion, but right now they are clearly killing in the mobile market with the best devices and software, even if you may disagree with how it has been implemented. Many of you are apparently blind to the fact that there are probably good reasons for much of what you perceive as failings, when clearly you could learn a lot if you open your minds a little and stop being so negative.

Does anyone know if sprint will offer its customers to upgrade the iPhone? If not on contract price. what are your thoughts on the pricing for an iPhone at retail price?.

Turn it on? Why would you care? How did you tell the difference between the 3G and the 3Gs? Other than the obvious fact that the 4s will be faster, it will probably be marked on the back with a 4s under the word iPhone. I'm guessing.

Probably that crappy browser you are using…

hehe ofcourse FireFox is crappy -.-".. think bright mate... Its not browsers fault.. If.. or should i download Opera, Safari, Latest IE and Chrome to test it out ?

I agree, that it is difficult to make good better. Actually, it is even harder to make great - greater. I have been pretty happy with my 4 but I will upgrade for the speed alone, the rest is just a bonus.

I found that same picture on the site in Safari and it does not look like that to me. It did not look like that earlier this afternoon either.

As of right now, when I went to the apple store it says that I can buy the new apple 4s for $0 dollars! When I went to the store tab and it loaded, I looked underneath the new iPhone 4s picture and it said "From $0" AWESOME!

Disappointed

This is the first time in a long time that Apple fans are actually disappointed. I guess this was really a let down. Apple didn't drop the ball, they dropped the apple.

I was hopping to see a new IPhone not the bulky and fragile glass incase. I’ve been waiting for this new phone for so long and it didn’t help all the rumors about the new design, larger screen and thinner aluminum body and what did we get? Same old IPhone 4, not enough to change my mind and make me rush to the purchase line.

Sorry Apple, you had my hope so high and now I am very disappointed with the results.

I don't get all the 'bulky' comments.

I see people calling the phone 'thick' despite the fact that it's the thinnest smartphone on the planet.

And then they call it bulky while often wishing for a 4 inch screen which would make the phone... bigger!

Some people just don't know what they want.

I hear a lot of people saying things like "no one will want to use Siri in public. It'll be too embarrassing!".

As with anything particularly new, Siri and the other emerging voice control systems are bound to be misunderstood by most people. It's future shock.

Case in point - people said exactly the same things about mobile phones! They said no one would feel comfortable using a phone outside of the house. Hands free kits got the same sort of response.

Tablet computers - oversized iphones! Why would you want one of those? They're just less capable laptops, people said. Now? Biggest tech trend since the smartphone boom. In regards to smartphones, I recall saying on many occasions - why would I need a Smartphone? I can check my email when I'm at home!

I think it's clear that, while we do not know if Siri will be a revolution yet, we certainly shouldn't be too confident in predicting its failure. I think, in the long term, voice controlled systems such as this are certain to succeed. As soon as the technology works well enough, often enough people will begin to use them. A bit at first then more as they adapt how they do things.

The tools we have dictate how we get things done. The arrival of a new tool is the start of a journey towards new behaviours. Not the end of one.

Get an iPhone 4S and start using Siri. Use it for a year and then compare how you get things done to how you got things done pre-Siri. Things you'll do without even noticing - like sending a short message with a quick voice command or setting your alarm almost without thinking about it. I'd be surprised if you can't see a fairly massive behavioural change having crept in. Then you'll understand why this new item, Beta as it may be, is the biggest deal going.

Voice control is the future today just as touch screens were the future in 2008.

rolling in the deeppppp...**** is what I felt like singing along to with this video.
I'll ask Siri to remind me to masturbate, have sex, watch porn, and curse....I hope she doesn't get offended.

Very clever AI (like Star Trek) knows you and knows it's you who are talking to it.
How will a low power mobile phone know it's you, and not someone else?

When you control a phone with fingers, it's only you pressing the buttons or the screen. People around you don't keep poking your phone when you are trying to use it.

So if the phone is sensitive enough to pick up voice without you having to speak very directly into it, how will it know its not someone next to you saying something?

Agreed, this could be a downside. That said, the same is true for using mobile phones in public in places with high background noise.

Supposedly Siri learns your voice, according to Apple's site, in order to respond more accurately to how you speak as time goes by. It's not much of a stretch to assume it can, therefore, distinguish between your voice and the voices of others much as you or I can hear a number of voices simultaneously but still know which voice is talking to us.

I would assume that in low noise environments we'll use this system a little differently than in high noise environments. Again, like phones, which we wouldn't have on speaker phone while sitting on a bus.

It's called backround noise cancellation, the iPhone 4 has some of the best built in noise cancellation.
