Probably. Why should it be any different? For example the "To do" feature they added in Android and now in iOS has been available as 3rd party before.
You do realize that Apple has been after Samsung's ass and other phones for "copying" looks and features.

Really, that's my only problem. I'm annoying that Apple is suing others for "copying". Either way, I found the SGS2 pretty damn good. Well, my friend takes care of his technology, he's owned android and Apple phones, and I got to try them out numerous times. He says he just wants what's faster so he chooses the latest phones, I personally like the SGS2 better than the iphone 4, and since the iphone 4s isn't much of a difference....meh.

Bored of all the iPhone stuff now it's over with. What's gonna be next to be the big topic of rumours? Redesign for MBP or iPad 3?

That's the bagful of hurt world of patents though. It's not the same as incorporating some functionality into the OS, a functionality which cannot be patented or hasn't been patented.

Oh, I didn't realise that JD Power were Apple Fanboys, thanks for clearing that up for me.
You don't think a website like Gizmodo is biased towards Apple? A lot of websites do stuff like this for numerous products you know.
Either way, JD Power didn't make the vote, the people did, and when I look at reviews for several things, I find a lot of them to be very unintelligent.

"THIS THING IS SO FAST AND CAN DO EVERYTHING"
"SO SLICK AND QUICK"
Really, my good/bad review ratio is 1/10.

Not really. Phones are used by millions, not all of them are techies like us. My mom doesn't know what 3G is yet but she uses a 3G phone.
Now think about it, what if she was interviewed?
"Yeah, 5 stars for that, performance? Yeah, 5 stars. Battery? This thing dies pretty quickly, give it 3 stars."
Now.....I'd give it overall 4/5.

Ease of Operation: 5/5
Operating System: 4/5 -It's too locked down IMO-
Physical design: 5/5
Handset features: 4/5
Battery: 3/5

wish this was iPhone 5 not iPhone 4S, as do many.. why wasn't this released back in July, guessing needed/wanted Siri, b/c only special feature this phone gets. iPhone 4 isn't slow and it's camera isn't bad, both get grades and not a great reason buy new phone. True Apple fan but this was a downgrade. Let's hope there is a iPhone 5 in July 2012. I don't feel like waiting another year for something I thought until recently we be news about today. I am still going to buy this because I off contract and opportunity cost of $250 for being off contract for a year is too great.

But honestly think S stands for seriously???
no-iphone-5.jpg

Haha thought you were joking...downgrade?? .. Faster processor, top notch camera, that siri assistant looks amazing, and all wrapped up in the still best looking package on the market... You were joking then right?

I'm iffy on the preorder, I already own a iPhone 4. Does anyone know if the unlimited data is just for the iPhone only? I don't want to switch to another phone and lose my unlimited data :D

$100 more
They finally caught up with the processor, which is 6 months old, considering the quad core processors are going to be out soon. The speed is now in par with the Samsung Galaxy SII -Finally-.
The antenna they broke is fixed in this version, paying for a fix?
upgraded camera, other phones have had it.
siris or whatever, which is pretty much in every phone by now -Not specifically Siris, but Android has a voice thing like that-.
Galaxy SII still beats this phone in every way, and when the iPhone 5 is out, the galaxy S III will be out with a quad core processor and the newest android OS.

What the Hell ar you talking about?

Ip4S has a brand new Anntaena system which switches to receive and send, no other (including your stupid SGS2) has this. its a world phone again ground breaking no other phone (including your stupid SGS2) has this. if wanted to take the GSM SGS2 to work in a CDMA area i need to buy a whole new CDMA SGS2

and you really that ignorant and say Siri is the Google Voice thing  that is the studpitest thing i have heard in the life. all the google voice thing is a dictation feature of android feature where as Siri is a AI system that not only can be used as a Dictation feature it also does many other personal assistant things

all i have to say is can your SGS2 book me a meeting, in calenders, tell the weather, remind me things, call people and messeage people without pressing the call button/send button

seriously if your going to attack the Ip4S bring some credible eveidence

No iPhone 5 for me?

I really want one but I am not eligible for the upgrade price and by the time I am eligible(2/12) I am sure there will be rumors about the iPhone 5(or 4Sx) so I wouldn't want to buy a 4S at that point in time and be locked in again.

Seems as though the people are disappointed just because the 4s didn't come out in an all new package. Yet, the insides have been all upgraded and has 90% of the features people we're wanting. Only missing the larger screen and RFID, which would have been nice, but not required.

Look at the advantages to leaving the basic package the same. Now all the accessories for the iPhone 4 work with the 4s. Also, this really gave Apple the time to perfect the antenna and the insides and I think that's going to translate into better performance and a better quality phone overall.

On the other hand, I think this is a risky move by Apple.... with the delay of the phone (which I think is due to all the software around it like iCloud, Siri, and such) people... or the techie crowd... expected something they didn't expect and left us uninspired in the end. Yet, it's still a great product if you take it for what it is.

If you stick with the same carrier you won't loose your unlimited data. At least they didn't take it away in the past... but ask your carrier to be sure.

Looks like the UK buyer has been screwed again, US iPhone 16GB $199, UK 16GB £499. Go figure?

By that logic, everyone is a beta tester for the next evolution of any product.

Siri is the only new feature that requires a 4S and it is beta software.

I'm not about to pay a premium for a spec bump and half-baked software. Especially when the hardware doesn't check all the boxes on my "must-have" list.

ios5+iPhone4 = Good enough for now, and I'm assuming that's true for most.
+1

I can see how the specs might seem 'amazing' if you are upgrading from an iPhone 3g or perhaps the 3GS (though even that's getting iO5, so not completely sold you'll need to upgrade), but as an iPhone 4 user, nothing about the 4S makes me want to part with my hard earned cash. More than happy to wait another year before upgrading..

my upgrade equation:

if iPhone is ≤ 3G then ↑ to 4S crucial

otherwise wait (N+1)

where N = current year

So what? That's the majority of people who are getting interviewed, for any customer satisfaction survey. Do you actually think that only techies should be interviewed? Why? That would only be appropriate if only techies bought these things. A successful survey takes a very homogeneous group of people, as random as possible.

I'm not in a position to give my opinion on the latest iPhone because I still use my 2G. :) But I'm really looking forward to finally upgrade to 4S.

Not much is the same except the outside. It’s a whole new phone on the inside

I wish people would stop repeating PR speak like that.

On the inside there's a new A5 chip and upgraded camera internals, but the rest is the same -- for one thing it uses the same battery, with the same battery life (slightly better in some respects, sligthly worse in others).

We don't know the RAM yet, but many expect it to be the same as in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4, 512 mb.

EDIT: For battery specs, my source for this is Engadget, which I believe took their numbers directly from the Keynote. If someone has evidence the battery is actually upgraded, I would appreciate info! If not, I hope we can stop spewing nonsense about the iPhone 4S being "all new on the inside", "everything's changed under the hood" etc etc.

And? That's as much difference on the inside as you can basically get. The only disappointment was 512MB Ram and lack of NFC for me. Other than that, it's as good as it can get on the inside. What extra chip are they going to put in a phone?

Apple Marketing?? Are they dumb???

I don't understand Apple's marketing technique here. Why didn't they just call it an iPhone5??? If they branded the iPhone 4s as the iphone5, millions and millions would have automatically ditched their almost identical iphone4 just for the brand spanking new ' name' alone, specs would be totally irrelevant.

And that was the whole point of my post -- the "inside" of a smartphone is more than a chip and a camera. So those upgrades are nice, but doesn't really warrant the "all new inside" tag people are trowing at it.

But -- as was the whole point of my post -- the "inside" of a phone is more than chip and camera. Did you read my post at all?

Well, inside of a phone is basically chip + battery + other chips + camera. And that's it. If you are spec bumping, those are the things you can bump.

Battery can't be really bumped by Apple. Only the size can increase, which is almost impossible considering the devices of today are as crowded as they can get on the inside anyway. And Battery tech isn't getting quantum leaps every year. Today's batteries are pretty much the same as the ones from 5 years ago.

So what they can do is bump the CPU+Ram, the camera (which I think Apple did bump more than any other competitor on this iteration), and you can add other chips for extra functionality. Like NFC or LTE.

So, I think you can wow people more through software than hardware at this point, which is what Apple tries to do every time.
