After my 12th replacement- my phone is already perfect with the same tint as yours iP4 showed here.
The best illumination I have seen on iPhone the brightest screen among all at Apple Store. No visible LEDs on top. But as I said- I went through 12..
This one is black 16GB DNP, week 47.
No one of the white versions were with good tint- all were yellow (C37, C39, DNR- which I had a chance to look closer)

smh that is freaking ridiculous. i returned my iphone 4s yesterday not for a return, but for a refund! when is apple gonna step up and do something about all these defective screened phones?

Couldn't agree more

So the new one is on the right and the old on the left? Correct?

The one on the left was the yellow one that got replaced. The one on the right is my original phone that had a dead pixel. The third one-not pictured-looks like the one on the right.

----------

This is not just an apple problem. It's an LCD thing. Put two of any kind of phone, TV, etc and you will see a difference. The quality control tolerances is not great in general for the screens.

So your on your 12th replacement and you finally got a good one? How did you find out about all the white replacements when you have black.

I insisted for full refund and bought black one. Before I did this the Genius swapped my device twice when I still had a white one. Everything I did was under my 14 days return period.

Hope you don't have an issue with this phone, hate to have to go through another 12.

Unbelievable - this is the only word without using profanity to describe today's experience at the Rosedale Mall Apple store here in Minnesota.

I arrived at the Apple store around 5:45pm since my appointment was set for 6pm. Upon arriving I go straight to the black iPhone 4S display models and sure enough, out of the 5 on display only 1 had the proper screen. This one had a beautiful natural hue to it, whites were whites and NOT yellow. Therefore I decided to use this one as an example for comparison.

After checking in and having the next in line IDIOT not Genius Rep come over to speak with me, I immediately compare my current iPhone 4S to the display model I mentioned earlier. This idiot had the nerve to tell me he saw zero, nada, NO differences from the two..... Really? No difference, right? Because obviously a wedding dress is slightly yellow and NOT white, because snow is yellow and NOT white huh???? After exchanging a few words he comes at me with this: "Well I'm a graphics designer and your phone and the one on display are no different and I cannot tell that you have a yellow screen" - Are you ****** kiddin' me? Not only are you trying to act like you're god damn color blind but you are trying to tell me, the god damn customer who paid $300, that I'm wrong and you're right? That you're a so called graphics designer so that automatically puts you above ME and makes me wrong in only wanting the phone that I paid for with my own hard earned money?

Hold up though because it gets better. He tells me he's going to take my phone, go to the backroom, and show his co-workers for their opinions. 10 minutes later he comes back with this: "Well I showed your phone to my co-workers and they don't see the yellow screen, they're also graphics designers and photographers" - this my fellow iPhone 4S users, is when I blew up..... I told this god damn IDIOT that I didn't f'in care to know what he and his lil geeky friends back there were! Whether that's being a graphics designers, photographers and whatever else he was going to come up with - I WANT AN IPHONE 4S with NO YELLOW SCREEN! Since when is the customer WRONG and the Customer Service Rep right? Did I miss something here? Aren't we the ones that bought the damn thing? After roasting this IDIOT in front of customers and his co-workers, I finally tell him to go back there and bring out a replacement for me so that I can decide on whether or not I'd like to proceed with the exchange!

Well guess what? He comes back with an iPhone 4S with an even worse yellow screen. I ask him to let me see another one but he refuses and decides to tell me AGAIN that there are NO differences. At this point I was ready to smack this IDIOT upside the head and shake him till he actually realizes that he's the Customer Service Rep and NOT the god damn customer. As a representative to Apple you should work with your customer to make them feel acknowledged and tend to their needs. I haven't been this disappointed in a very long time, it disgusts me that this fool sat there trying to tell me what his side hobbies were, that he's a graphics designer and that he's right and I'm wrong. I don't care that you're graphics designer, I don't care that you're a photographer - I just want my 4S replaced with one that doesn't have a yellow screen. Is that too much to ask for? I'm done with these IDIOT BAR visits, my last resort is to call Apple Support over the phone and get a replacement that way instead to see if I get lucky.

I'm never going back into this Apple store again. Horrible, simply F'in horrible.

That is awful. Next time just ask for a phone, starting with DNP S/N. They can check for you and you won't be dissapointed for sure! All DNP's are just about to perfect as a screen tint.

Horrible customer service.

I used to be the manager of Best Buy before I quit dealing with terrible employees and whatnot. After 6+ years, retail was not for me.

Seems like your "idiot bar guy" is not the right man for the job.

Earlier this year I went through many, many yellow tinted displays. Called Applecare, they sent me a brand new retail box phone. I suggest you do the same OP.

Good luck.

Have you ask them the check a serial number for you like that?

Never asked for a specific serial number but I will tomorrow. I'll stop by one last Apple store and ask for the C39's or DN's - I have a C38 atm.

I have a c39 with a bad yellow tint so I'm going tomorrow and try for the DN's

people have tried making a correlation between the display and serial # but there is too much variation to make a reliable conclusion.

Exactly. I have a C38 model just like the OP, and its WHITE. no blue, no yellow.

Took me 6 tries, but i got a good one. 5 if you count one that had a bad FFC.

I've had three C39's now. First one the screen looked like piss, the second one was ok but not as nice as my old 4, had to replace that one because every now and then I couldn't hear the other party on a call. Third one not as nice as the second one but better than the first one.

Apple really needs to sort out this screen issue.

Yes, I do this every time. No problem when it comes to the blacks replacement boxes. More problems to ask for S/N on the retail boxes.

Like its been harder to get a SN serial number than a DN?

Are the DN and SN serial numbers the same for both black and white 4s's?

Yes, I have seen once black C39, forgot to mention it above.
Should add also that all mentioned above are 16GB units.

I had called apple care a few days ago about the yellow screen and they told me that if it isnt gone in 2 to 3 weeks call back, but after reading it doesn't leave in 2 to 3 weeks I went back to a apple store this morning and they told me they can't do anything because I called the apple care. Is this right? Can the do that?

Bull. Never volunteer info to an Apple employee. Never. Calling Apple Care has no bearing on returning/exchanging a phone with an Apple store UNLESS you have already initiated an exchange/return with Apple Care. That's the only thing. Calling them for support does not make it so you can't do anything at the Apple store.

Please realize you are dealing with run of the mill people at the Apple store. Most don't know what the hell they are talking about half the time.

I will say - if you just bought a phone at it's color is a bit off, give it a couple of weeks. If it's still the same, take it back.

The guy at apple stores letting me talk to a manager

2-4s here, one is a 16gb (16 is for my mom's Xmas gift) and the other a 32gb which both are C39 that have perfect neutral colors.

I was worried to death i would end up with garbage screens that had bleeding, yellow etc and to my surprise they were both perfect.

Some of the stories of the Genius appointments you guys have had to endure made me alot more concerned of what i might have had to deal with if i was not satisfied since i am rather OCD with my electronics.
