If you mean the feature that keeps the screen on when you look at it, it doesn't even work outside in the daylight lol :( hoping a fix is coming soon!

Daylight? The sun never shines in blighty! :D

But, I wouldn't expect that feature to work with any current screen technology in daylight. Once they figure out how to make high pixel density color screens to look as good in daylight, as indoors, then I will expect this feature to work anywhere.

Ordered my S3 (AT&T version) tonight. Will be at my door in 2 weeks. Went with white, since I have had nothing but black cell phones since 1995.

First timer, I'm still trying to decide if I should keep my 4S or sell it to get the S3. I like the bigger screen but hate how Samsung doesn't care or update your phone once they have your money.

Decisions decisions.

I wouldn't hope too much for a quick fix. The major reason I came back to iOS after owning a plethora of Android powered phones is the fact that updates took forever, sometimes because the carrier didn't release it, and sometimes because a newer phone had come out.

I'm not trying to bash Android as I like the system, but iOS you know you have a device that will be fully supported for 2 iterations of the software. It may not get every feature, but it gets most.

Nah I'm not hoping for a quick fix, its not a deal breaker, would just be nice if it worked as advertised.

Very true! :p

I think you misunderstood the feature I'm talking about, I'm talking about the feature that tracks your eyes using the front facing camera and automatically prevents the screen from switching off when you look at it. I thought it would work outside because of all the natural light and it generally being a good photo taking environment, but it doesn't. Maybe its because I have dark brown eyes!

I can confirm the screen looks fantastic outside :D

The Galaxy S2 was one of the first Android devices to be updated to ice cream sandwich.

here are a few thing the iphone cant do but the Galaxy S3 can do with ease:
- Facial Unlock
- 2GB of RAM nuff said!
- expandable memory via SD card.
- comes with 50GB of dropbox storage!!!!!!!
- Video Chat over 4G and 3G
- 4.8 inch 720p Display screen for gaming and movie viewing.
- Android Beam and S Beam
- LTE!
- Smart Stay ( google it and learn about it )
- Smart Alerts
- Pop Up Play, being able to watch a movie or video while doing any action like playing a game or send a text or on the phone.
- ability to change screen mode from cool blue display to warm yellow to dynamic contrast etc, meaning no more complaining that my screen is yellow and not blue like when the iphone came out!
- VOICE AWAKE! Saying Hi Galaxy will wake up phone!!!!!!!!!

It's a camera jointly developed by Sony and Samsung. Has a bunch of new feature tho................

And i like all those features! Thats awesome! Was seeing all that supposed to make me hate my iPhone though? The iPhone has a better ecosystem, long term support, build quality and a market for accessories no other phone will ever have. Would you feel bad if you were a galaxy s3 owner? No? Well neither do i. I can like two things without feeling the need to hate 1

Galaxy S3 and it's successor have the strength to put a dent into apple over the next few years............

You mean "put a dent in android over the next few years" right? Since you know. All the android manufacturers are competing with each other to have the best android device. People will buy iPhones no matter what. The iPhone is not now and won't be at a place for a long time where it'll be hurt by competition from some other phone. Every new phone that comes out you hear chatter about "this is an iPhone killer". You've heard this for years and yet, the iPhone is selling record amounts. But really, anyone that wants an iPhone is going to get one, and another android phone among the hundreds of others won't push millions of people to drop their iPhone for "that new android phone that will be obsolete and probably not get updates".

Now that Samsung clearly has more clout with the carriers as evidenced by the almost simultaneous release dates and unchanged hardware versions in the US maybe this could also mean less bloat ware and timely-er updates down the line across all carriers.

Yeah that is what I hope for. Basically I would want Samsung to mimic Apple in regards to software updates and support.

Too bad there isn't any Samsung stores in the U.S. you could take your phone to for a replacement the way you can with Apple.

I did what you're suggesting here a few days ago. For me, the S3 is what the iPhone 4S should have been.

If like me, you've been using iPhones for the past 5 years, getting used to Android takes a while, but it's a decent OS when you do get used to it.

I'm just dissapointed that I can't get Peggle anymore ! :(

I'll just throw this out there because I came across a thread at XDA where a Mac user was having no luck connecting his SIII to his MBP using Kies.

Has anyone here had luck with connecting their SIII to a Mac? I'm assuming you are using Kies? This is crucial because the last thing I'd want is to get the SIII and not be able to add media accordingly using my MBA.

You don't need Keis. Just plug the phone into the computer via usb.

With the Android OS you can install third party applications to replace system applications (Dialer, browser, market, etc.). Check out the Amazon app store. They have Peggle for $2.99.

EDIT: Never mind, just realized you've got to be outside of the U.S., since the S3 hasn't been realized here yet. Sorry.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on the s3. I had iphones for the past couple of years, and think its time for a change. I may wait until the next iphone comes out to make a choice, but I've had my iphone 4 for almost two years. The 4s just wasnt worth an upgrade imo. Either way the s3 is a very nice phone. I've never thought about switching from the iphone untill now.

Just curious - does anyone know if you can put a AT&T card in a TMobile phone (specifically the S3). I know you would have to buy an unsubsidized TMobile phone, but I'm wondering if that is also an unlocked phone.

(note: the reason is that I want an S3 with 32GB INTERNAL, which AT&T doesn't offer. I want a total of 96GB on my phone at once to fit all of my music, and I don't want to argue this point)

The carriers make money off of the bloat and the phone manufacturers also get a piece of the pie so it's not going away. As for updates, it's up to the phone manufacturers to put them together and get them to the carriers for testing. Carriers will NEVER release an update until it's tested, no matter how much clout Samsung, or anyone else, has. They don't want complaints from their customers about the update not working.

It's going to be up to Samsung to get the updates into the hand of the carriers faster so that they can test it and roll it out. This is all in Samsung's hands.

The thing to do, I found, was download the Android File Transfer for Mac app.

It lists the various folders on both the phone and any micro sd card you have in it, and allows you to create folders, drag and drop files from itunes/iphoto etc etc.

Works well in my experience. No need for Kies.

Thanks for this. I'll keep it in mind. Bottom line is that if I end up getting the SIII, I need a foolproof way to add music to the SD card.

i wish that had been the case in the U.S. AT&T still hasn't issued the ICS update for the S2. Still on GB 2.3.6. But thatisn't Google or Samsungs fault. The leaked Samsung code has been out for months.

There are things I really miss about the UK. Mobile providers in the US suck in comparison. I never once had an issue with O2 the 3 years I was with them.

Exactly. There is no need for Keis. In fact, iSyncr is probably the app you will fall inlove with, if you get the S3. Basically allows you to sync with your music and podcasts via itunes, just as if you were using an iPhone.

I'd probably do this first just to see what would happen.

Very interesting. Even when you are putting all the music on an SD card?

Just came across the pre-order SIII page at AT&T. It appears to confirm that it's compatible with a 64 GB SD card. Great confirmation.

No it isnt. Sometimes it takes the carriers 2-3 more months to get the updates out.

I know there are many options with respect to getting media onto a SIII from your Mac, but is there a good way to make sure your media is organized well once it's on the SIII? I'm asking specifically for music. I like the way I can make sure everything is organized to my liking in iTunes so that way it will show up according in the Music app. I want to make my artists appear in alphabetical order properly, all album art represented and accurately, etc.
