Apparently it takes 5 days for carriers to reset their contracts for people so they can again buy for discounted price. Source: Apple Store Chat Not sure if this is true as Apple Store Chat people is the lowest of all ranks of Apple customer service.

I guess a lot of people are getting the black iPhone on this thread? Not to get too off topic, anyone concerned of the black finish wearing off? I might just get a case.

Several people on here posted canceling and having their upgrade status fixed literally within 5-10 minutes with AT&T. Of course this may not happen all the time.

Usually only takes 15-20 minutes. If u got to an apple store I believe they can call and fix it quick enough with AT&T . But I've read of people where it's taken almost 24 hours. It can be risky but usually works out

My card was just charged so in assuming ill see the same soon enough

YES! Finally some progress. I still feel like we Oct 5'ers got the shaft but it's nice to have something happening at last.

I got my confirmation email at 4:01am EST (woke up at 3:20 and tried to purchase but site was down and I forgot I could use the app...). Been stalking these threads and as soon as I saw this I ran over to BoA and saw that my card is also pending a charge from Apple.

Still processing though.

I'm still showing "processing" with an October 5th delivery date. Ordered the white 32gb AT&T at 5:40am EST. Also, still no charge on the card.

I was thinking about stopping into an AT&T/Walmart/Target during lunch or on my way home but with my luck I'll get the "preparing for shipping" the same time the guy at the store says he has some in stock

Same here.. I was planning on going to an AT&T in the morning and I'm on a waiting list at two radio shacks..

I'm fine waiting until next week but please before oct 5th

Ordered around 8:45AM PST on 9/14. iPhone 5 64GB Black & Slate ATT model. Still "Processing Items" and Oct5 delivery.

When I talked to some lady from AT&T about canceling my order and buying in store, but she told me that since I already agreed to the "terms and conditions" of the new contract that I was stuck with my order. Doesn't really make any sense to me, if I canceled the purchase I shouldn't be forced into the contract and lack of subsidized renewal. Then again, I still have the unlimited data plan and thus don't feel like playing with it too much.

It would be awesome if I could get it tomorrow though, but I'm actually pretty satisfied with my jailbroken iPhone 4 and don't mind waiting that much.

I'll throw mine in

Email confirmation of "processing": 4:50AM Eastern
Delivery 2 weeks / oct 5th
Status is still processing - card not charged yet

Just changed to preparing for shipment.

(Still says 2 weeks / oct 5th). Nothing on UPS/Fedex yet

Terms and conditions are a contract. U have, depending on state, 3 days to 30 days, to cancel a contract. Ur contract isn't effective until your phone is activated

Ordered 32GB Black AT&T from Apple at 7:45 AM CST 9/14...scheduled delivery Oct. 5...just changed to Preparing for Shipment, but nothing charged on my credit card yet.

Ordered a black AT&T 16GB from the Apple Store on 9/14 at exactly 8:45AM, the order has been in processing since the 14th, with a delivery date of October 2. Checked my status about an hour ago and it now says "preparing for shipping", and my card has been charged for the amount reflected on Apple's website. Still with a delivery date of October 2 though. We shall see! No tracking info available yet on UPS or Fed EX though.

Ordered around noon eastern on 9/14 (had 04:10 order but cancelled it)
32GB black AT&T
Card charged
Preparing for shipment
Woot!

I almost wondering if they are shifting people to the preparing for shipping to prevent people from standing in line tomorrow, getting phones and then canceling pending orders online. I love a good conspiracy theory

I was wondering that too. Heh...

Darn all your AT&T orders that are now preparing. Can only hope throughout the night they start preparing to ship some Verizon orders.

Yes! Thought that for a minute too but there's no way they're going to be 'preparing for shipment' for 10 days and unable to be cancelled for all that time. I'm certain they'll ship soon.

Anyone not have anything charged on their credit card? I am still processing items but I don't even have a pending status on my card.

AT&T 16gb black here. Ordered about 8:15AM EST. still processing but the charge is pending on the card as of today.
