Woot! Good for you! I bet you'll have your phone on Monday :)

So am in the 'preparing for shipment' phase... Just curious what others are experiencing from a timing perspective for 'preparing' to shipped. Still hoping (it springs eternal) that the phone will be there this coming week.

Pre ordering is the big joke of this release. If you didn't magically make it in the first batch to get it on the 21st...no phone for you! At least not according to the average consumer's interpretation of a preorder which would assume you getting the phone on release date, reserved for you. Being taken by surprise is complete bull, did they think that if there were 4 million iPhones ready to go, they wouldn't sell????

Most of my coworkers just walked into an AT&T or Verizon store and picked one up and made it to work before 9 AM. Makes the rest of us look like nutty idiots with nothing better to do than wake up at 2 AM CT to order a phone which is not coming until who knows when.

I've been in preparing for shipment for. 24 hrs now. Any thoughts? Ordered 9-14 at 4:22 est. AT&T black 32 from apple store.

Yeah apple made morons out of about a million people. Got us to pay in advance for phones, then sold those phones to people in stores and telling us that ours are coming. "prepared" to come so you can't cancel a back order to buy a phone right in front of you. The more I think about this the more I think: They planned to do this all along. Create the hype of massive preorders, take those people's money then send all the phones to retail to sell them a second time and leave the first buyers with dick.

just checked my card and it was charged too, but also still processing. keep me updated

Officially in "Preparing for Shipment" limbo. Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow i'll have a shipment notification. Where are you at right now? Has yours entered limbo as well? ha

Delivery Status

Ordered 2 64's at 5:30 PM est. on 9/14 from at&t.

I'm on backorder and prepared for shipment. Got the standard 14-21 days note but I have no idea where to find out the actual shipping estimate.

I get the impatience and the depression that comes from seeing others get their iPhones first, but seriously, every website and email after midnight said 2 week deliveries. Complaining about being stuck in pre-order won't rush the pre-order. Patience is key folks. Besides, I'd rather wait an extra week than loose sleep by waiting in line overnight.

I ordered from Apple Store and AT&T with Oct 5.So I went to Radio Shack on Monday morning and ordered my 16g AT&T and cancelled both orders.I picked it up at 902AM.Took nearly an hour to activate as AT&T activation site crashing. Some took 5+hours.
Local AT&T store sold out as of 1010am ET and I was there at 1110am and another shipment arrived which was sold out mid-afternoon.

Not me.

I have called two stores and they are sold out anyway.

So I am screwed either way.

I was in line with about 8 people ahead of me when mine changed to prepared. I could have gotten my phones no problem at all. Apple screwed every last one of us

There is no pattern, rhyme or reason. I ordered 2 on 9/14 (white and black) 16gb at 7:20am CST. I got the classic 10/5 on both. Two associates I work with ordered after me, one 8:00am CST and one 10:00am CST on the 14th also. They both received shipping notifications at 6:00 am today. My white one is currently preparing to ship and my black one is still pending. Very frustrating that the orders are not being processed in the order received. I also noticed a charge on my card for 1 phone around noon today then it disappeared. I am very confused about how apple is determining when to ship orders. I'm set on 10/5 so anything sooner will be a bonus.

I ordered a 32gb black at&t model from apple.com on 9/14 at 2:55am CST. I had the October 5th ship date. Called apple the other day to complain about it and they changed my shipping to next day shipping and the delivery date changed to Oct. 1. Today I check my order status and it has been moved back to Oct 3.

Anyone else wake up to find that their original delivery date has been moved to a later date?

Ordered 10am last week. Just changed to preparing for shipment a few hours ago. Still Oct 5th delivery estimate.

Yes. We all knew it would take two weeks to get the phone when we ordered. But that said, we also thought the phones would not be available for a longer time period if we did not preorder. Isn't that what preorder is about? My friend told me when he preordered one of the first iPads it took over a month to get it but no one could get one anywhere. In this case...the early bird did not get the warm...

That's not exactly true for all of us. If you used the Applestore app you didn't know about the delay until the email came confirming the order. I ordered and went back to bed and had no idea there was a delay till morning.

Wow! Finally hit preparing for shipment. I feel like I just mined some gold.

Preparing for shipment is just a state of limbo. It could sit there for god knows how long. Until it ships and you get the email telling you so you're still in limbo..

Evidently this is the new post Steve Jobs Apple..the folks that screw you, the loyal customer.

"Preparing to Ship" is Apple's way of saying "Haha you can't cancel and buy it at your local store which probably has them in stock! Wait a week or two; it's just a phone!"
