They may make other Apple products in Taiyuan, but that's a completely different part of China from where our iPhones are coming from.

Yes, but if you've been following the news in China, it's not exactly an isolated incident... as far as a "completely different part" I don't think 400km is really that far away (it's even in the same timezone *snicker*;)

Well it's far enough away that at the moment it's not a factor w/regard to iPhone shipments.

What's going on?
My phone sitting in ZhengZhou hasn't moved at all in over 36 hours.
Should be Monday morning, almost 9 am there... I picture a forgotten pallet sitting there.

Right, nobody had a choice of shipping options, yet some orders went out 'Express' and some 'Expedited' -- the point of my question. Thanks though for stopping by ;)

----------

I called Apple to ask about my order and was told that Oct 5 was assigned to the 2nd wave of pre-orders once the initial batch sold out as a 'no-later-than' delivery date.

How do you know if your iphone was shipped expedited or express? please let me know

Meanwhile in ZhengZhou...

I'm in the same batch. I'm hoping they are on:

Sometimes it takes awhile for Ups to update the tracking info. I don't see any UPS flights out of ZhengZhou to Hing Kong. I'm hoping China Southern flies them to Hong Kong then UPS takes over.

I'm in the same idle group. Maybe ups is just slow with updating.

Given the multi-million boxes they have to sort/pack/crate/pallet, it is no surprise that UPS might be having a hard time updating their system.... Mine left ZhengZhou on the 22nd, arrived at ZhengZhou on the 23rd, and is 'ready for ups' on the 24th.....

Same exact tracking as mine. Worldwide Expedited shipping.

I doubt it, China Southern is a passenger airline not a freight airline.

Cathay runs a freighter thru ZhengZhou now

Cathay launches cargo service to Zhengzhou

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways has launched a twice-weekly freighter service to Zhengzhou, capital of the central province of Henan. The new route follows the launch of services to the western cities of Chengdu and Chongqing in the second half of last year.

The Zhengzhou service will be operated by a B747 freighter and will follow a Hong Kong-Shanghai-Zhengzhou-Hong Kong routing.

FedEx just got rights there too

The authorization comes four months after Chinese regulators
approved a $1.6 billion initial public offering by state-owned
China Postal Express & Logistics, one of the largest courier
companies in the Chinese domestic market.

According to the government body, FedEx can now operate in
the cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Tianjin,
Dalian, Zhengzhou and Chengdu.

"FedEx is committed to China and remains focused on growing
our business together with our customers," FedEx spokeswoman
Shea Leordeanu said in an email.

UPS was given a license for the cities of Shanghai,
Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Xi'an.

"We are pleased to receive a license to operate domestic
express service in five strategic cities in China," UPS
spokeswoman Kristen Petrella said.

there are two different locations in ZhengZhou which the iphone traverses through. the only oddity about your shipment is the out-of-order "Ready For UPS" notification
