Sounds like there's your explanation. Time to get the battery (or perhaps even the whole phone, if that's offered) replaced.

Hi all, I'm having some issues with my iPhone 5, it feels like the battery doesn't last very long (I'm on iOS 7.0.3) so I had a look around and saw people mention iBackupBot to see what the battery is actually holding.

These are my results what do you think? The iPhone was bought in October last year. The full charge capacity seems a little low at just 177 cycles.

Try to let your battery drain till the phone shuts down and then, without taking the phone out of the charger, charge it to 100%. Do this a couple of times and I think you might see a difference. Also sometimes keeping the phone on the charger for like 24 straight will also work.

CycleCount: 289
DesignCapacity: 1430
FullChargeCapacity: 1119
Status: Success
BatteryCurrentCapacity: 27
BatteryIsCharging: true
ExternalChargeCapable: true
ExternalConnected: true
FullyCharged: false
GasGaugeCapability: true

Is this good or bad...? My phone's battery power has been terrible recently, like losing a percentage almost every minute and sometimes draining in large chunks.

iPhone 5 Battery degradation - Does it look right?

It's probably not the software that is inaccurate, but the battery reading itself (if I had to guess internally done by iOS itself).

Merkie here had a great plot. Its a plot of all the posted data in this thread by forum members.

It shows a clear trend with cycle number...and scatter in the data results, but still a trend.

Why there scatter? Here is my guess. The program used here is passive. It only reads a file within the iOS. How does Apple make that file? It probably measures the hours it takes to charge the phone to 100% ( # of hours x 1Amp charge rate of Apple charger = mAh). That is your Full Charge Capacity

But the correct answer depends on the internal battery meter being accurate and calibrated. That is what is done when the phone is taken to 0% and then charged to 100%. Since we all don't do that at the same time...that could explain some of the data scatter. How you use/charge/discharge the battery would explain scatter too.

But you can see from Merkie's plot, a number of data points on your phone will give you an idea on your battery condition. So take more than one.

I'm at 57% usage with only 2 hours of use (music and some browsing) and 3 hours and 45 minutes of standby, terrible.

is that good?

i believe i have a bad battery life ( 3 mins per 1 percent ) 50% brightness

Well, your battery is almost new and a drop in maximum capacity is not normal, but keep in mind that the read value is not so accurate.
Keep your battery under observation in the next 3-4 months ... If it drops suddenly below 1000-1100 mAh than you have a problem.

Now THAT's more like it. First full charge since I replaced the battery. I'm not too worried about the fact that it's not exactly the full amount, we shall see with future cycles. If anyone wanted to see an iBackupbot battery with cycle count zero, here it is.

Since I've replaced my battery, no longer shuts down early and (of course) lasts much longer. Test results of the new battery:

CycleCount: 2
DesignCapacity: 1430
FullChargeCapacity: 1399
Status: Success

Nice! May I ask where you got your batter from?

iFixit.com. Be careful when doing this yourself as the screws are tiny and don't pry around the battery connection. I actually cracked my battery connection, but fortunately it still works.

Mine is like this, but I don't feel it is good enough. If I leave it without charging overnight it loses usually 10~15% without any use, with ou without jailbreak, restored as new or from backup...

i went ahead and scheduled a date with the apple store for a new battery to be installed tonight. my phones battery life has just been down right terrible and i think it might be because of these results below.

does anyone know if they do this repair in store and how long it takes?

And no matter what you do, DO NOT follow iFixit's instructions. There is no reason whatsoever to remove the all the connections and completely remove the front panel just to change the battery. Just a waste of time and more risk. Do it like in this video:

Nothing bad about your battery capacity, but a 10-15% overnight is not normal at all. It should be around 2-3% (on mine about 1% in 7 hrs).
It is something related to your software ....

Most of the Apple stores should replace it on site, an it take about 30 minutes.

Yeah I know, but I already did a clean restore but nothing works...

This is my battery now after 517 cycles. Think it still appears to be pretty good.
