This is after a full day at school where my phone gets almost no service and just barely connects to EDGE. I'm there for 6 hours with LTE and wifi on, but not connected to a wifi network. The battery dropped quickly when I tried to use the phone when it was on EDGE/searching for service. Overall, not to bad for a day at school.

24 hours - stand by
usage - 5 hr, 25 min

My two year old iPhone 4 was better than this.

I let it completely drain and threw it on the charger. We will see how it does tomorrow morning.

to some with insane battery life, dont forget that listening to music while the screen is turned off counts towards your usage as well but it doesnt consume as much juice.

not alot of use tbh , I was listening to music for 6 hours (2/3 while i was on twitter, browser) 30 min of calls, 20/30 texts.

seems to be ok ....

edit : went up 2% while i transfered a picture onto my the pc, forgot about that !

Has anyone tested this with 4G turned off? I plan on using this thing on straight talk so I'd be interested to know how much longer it lasts on just 3G.

So far I'm not that impressed. We'll see if it improves. LTE is definitely offers fast downloads and fast battery depletion. This was with LTE on most of the time.

That looks pretty good to me! I'm getting just a tiny bit more usage (closer to 7 hours) and quite a bit less standby (13 1/2 hours tops) out of one full charge so far. That's on 3G.

I believe I've found the fix for everyone having issues:

1. Do one full discharge (till it dies) and full charge to calibrate the %'age. This has NOTHING to do with "tricking" a Li-Ion, it's software calibration apple uses solely.

2. Disable location services.

3. Disable Bluetooth (Apple rep told us to do this).

4. Use wifi whenever possible.

Let me know what you guys discover after trying this!!! I'm still testing this.

Egan

Okay guys,

I tested my quote above and I nearly tripled my battery life!!! LOL. My phone was doing a lot of wireless syncing during the night for a couple hours over wifi, but I can't believe the difference in time. I went from 3:45 mins of usage time on a full battery vs nearly 11 hours after doing my above steps of usage time. LOL Both similar usage methods and wifi vs LTE vs 3G time too.

I HIGHLY recommend you guys try this.

My iPhone 5's battery gets better each day. I did drain the battery 2 days in a row and I'm now getting better life.

Unbelievable: 5 pm and I'm on 72%! In my 4S at this time I would have been around 30%.

Improving New iPhone 5 Battery Life

I didn't have the best battery life out of the box. However, after owning quite a few of these things I did what I always do: cycled the battery. It's my belief this helps the software give more accurrate readings and may even get the battery performing better than when it's brand new.

100% to 0%
100% to 0%
100% to 0%

After 3 cycles I charged the phone over night (9 hours).

I then proceeded to use quite a few features over the next day and a half: calls, surfing, texting, Siri, music, etc. Wifi ON. Bluetooth ON. LTE OFF. (Not in my area.)

This was my most recent SS:

Not the best battery in history but great for my needs. I'm a firm believer that new iPhone users should do this. Might not work for everyone but has worked for me several times.

GL!

Mine seem to be holding up n I spend most the day surfing through safari n using pandora n texting!

Here's mine after the second full charge from 0%; LTE the whole time, only iMessage and medium email usage - mostly incoming work email; 2 push email accounts, auto brightness off set to around 30% brightness - what does everyone think?

This is just terrible...I've done only full discharges and full charges ever since I've gotten the phone. It's a mixture of mostly wifi and LTE on Facebook, Instagram, tumblr and iMessage. I also got that rattle too so I'm going to talk to a genius when I get the chance. image.jpg

I cannot get over 5 hours of battery life out of this phone no matter what I do.

Its usually between 3-4 hours. Ive tried shutting off all apps, have wifi and bluetooth off, LTE off, brightness around 30-40%. Its all the same.

Next im going to try turning off push and fetch and see what that does.

Are people with 7-9 hours using it to play music for 4 hours with the screen off or something?

Only other thing I can think is to not restore from backup, but that shoudnt make such a huge difference either way.
