This is on my second charge cycle. Not too bad. I set up as a new phone instead of restoring from my 4S.

mines a restore from icloud too.
let me know if you find anything out.

Hey, just did a restore of the iPhone iTunes. Had to sync everything back over with a cable like it is 2010, but the battery is really really improved!

I'm at 50% and around 5 hours of use. I did the restore about mid day, so tomorrow will be my first full day. I'll let you know more tomorrow.

I'd recommend doing it though.

Very annoyed... Only been texting, using safari and kik....

I bet you did a restore from a backup on your phone over iCloud or iTunes.

Restore the phone and start fresh. Do not restore from backup and it will be much better!

this is an apple replacement i received yesterday. most of the day was spent at the office with 1-2 bars and LTE off. Wifi was on and searching until 25% when I shut it off.

Location services on for the most important apps like Find my Iphone and Facebook, however, they weren't used all day.

Bluetooth was off throughout the day as well.

Holding up well so far. I think the Usage number is a artificially high though. I definitely wasn't pounding away at it all day, but I estimate:

1 30 min call
10 texts
1 hour of Safari
1 hour of reading newsfeeds
30 min of watching streaming TV (Optimum app)
20 minutes of streaming music via 3G in the car (from iCloud)

Off the charger at 9AM today and Wi-Fi all day, with the exception of 3G for that 20 min I was in the car running a quick errand. Also I forgot to add using iCloud fully on with Push everything, location services on, and 1 Gmail account on hourly fetch. And, 1/2 brightness, on auto.

iPhone 5 Battery Life

How is the battery life of your new iPhone 5 ?

I notice mine pretty bad. I did a full drain and charge back up. But still getting worse battery life compare to my 2 years old iPhone 4.

20% left after 4hrs of using  (facebook, mail, whatsapp)

please share your battery usage

I dont really notice much of a difference, other than the fact that my iphone4 is two years old, cycling several hundred times in its lifetime, and the i5 that's brand new...

So yea I kind of see a difference, but if both devices were brand new, you'll see similar results.

Meaning you're also getting bad battery life on the iPhone 5 ?

Best I've gotten so far. Mostly music playing, some web browsing on LTE and lots of texting.

Listening to music with equalizer off makes a BIG difference!

I just got mine yesterday and I left it by my bed overnight like I normally do (with my 4) with about 70% and when I woke up this morning, the battery was completely drained. Anyone else have this experience?

Tell us your secrets, what are your settings at. How do you use the phone and how often. I've been getting about ~7 hours of usage on wifi with web browsing, emails a little bit of games (15-20min) and some music

Most of my usage was music playing, some web browsing on mostly on LTE and text messaging a lot throughout the whole time.

My brightness is to auto, LTE and WIFI are set to on. Bluetooth is off.

I did use "Do not disturb" at work from 9 AM to 5 PM but I was still constantly unlocking it to change songs and reply to texts.

Cool, thanks for the quick reply! :)

My battery is GREAT i'm not bashing it as i have an iPad for the big browsing. People are bashing there iPhones gaming, making call, web browsing and wonder why they are getting bad battery. I don't game on my iPhone so i'm fine for that.

Maybe some should give the phone a rest at times then they might see better battery life. Yes some do/may have faulty batteries but most in this thread use their iPhone like an all in one, so battery is bound to decrease faster giving the illusion of a bad battery.

Remember what Apple says on battery life isn't real world usage, plus is based on low settings etc

Nope. The problem is that people are reporting the same usage pattern as with their previous device. I will be shocked if 6.0.1 does not say something about increasing battery life just as 5.0.1 did.

My phone's battery is garbage. I just cycled the battery yesterday and it's no better today.

I took the phone off the charger at 100% around 7:20 and as of right now, 8:39, with I'd say 10 texts, a couple checks of my facebook news feed and checking my e-mail once my battery is at 89%.

I'm gonna have to break down and reset it like it's a brand new phone with no back up info...

The battery life on my iPhone 5 on AT&T has been pretty good. However, I've noticed a trend that started recently. When unplugging my iPhone after its charge reaches 100% the batter percentage immediately jumps down to 97%. When I plug it back in it jumps back to 100%. It doesn't do this every time but it's happening more and more frequently. I also completely drained the battery before fully charging it for the first time. I guess I need to power cycle it one more time to calibrate it again.

I was extremely disappointed in the battery life until yesterday. I did a little LTE test. The second picture is with LTE on all the time and the first is with the same exact setup except LTE turned off. With LTE off, I should be getting over 14 hours of usage. That's incredible.

Yesterday was by far the best battery life I've had so far. Really the only thing I did differently was running on wifi for about half the day. What impressed me the most was that I really worked the phone pretty hard by searching for lots of apps, downloading a bunch, and then using them all. (All the app searching and downloading was done while connected to wifi.) That's not something I'll be doing on a day-to-day basis so it looks like the phone should be fine in lasting me from the time I unplug it in the morning until I go to bed at night (on average).

Prior to yesterday I was getting a little over 13 hours standby and just right at (or a little under) 7 hours usage.

Anyone can post battery life with everything turned on? By that I mean:
Brightness 100%
iCloud on
Find My Friends on
Find my iPhone on
Push notifications on
E-mail pushing every 15 minutes for 1-5 accounts?
That's how I like my iPhone, but now I have iPhone 4 and looking forward to iPhone 5 and is it improvement.

Mine did this once and I thought it was because the battery was new. It hasn't done it since I cycled the battery.

My Verizon iPhone 5 seems to drain very fast when on one of the slower networks with low signal strength.

This past weekend I got the following usage while in an area with good LTE coverage and under my own home Airport Wireless N network:
4 hours 19 minutes usage
15 hours, 36 minutes stand by
40% battery remaining

Today, at work, with either 1 or two bars of 3G or the sloowww 1xRTT network because the signal sucks in our building for some reason, even though we are in an LTE, or minumum 3G area. I unplugged it at 7:15 AM this morning before leaving for work, and it is now at the following with minimal use (deleting contacts):

1 hour 58 minutes usage
4 hours 58 minutes standby
53% battery remaining.

Seems like the phone is always searching for LTE signals, so when it's on the slower networks with a poor connection, it uses a lot of battery capacity. As I typed this last paragraph, it is down another percent witih no usage.
