I'm just waiting for the "I'm on my 10th iPhone and its still not right" thread. :D

So much faith in Apple and their care in analyzing these types of issues; yet, you think they would be careless enough to send "demo" units that are somehow inherently defective??

I don't. I was responding to another user's post. There is no reason to believe that the units are in any way different. I'm very confident, unfortunately, that the black retail units unboxed tomorrow morning will exhibit the same scuffing.

Ya, I was agreeing . . . and adding that assuming it was just a demo unit problem is awfully optimistic.

Either Way, Before i open my black iphone tomorrow i am going to go and check out the white model in person.

Me too, for the amount of money we are paying for a luxury product, I don't want to see it scuff in such a short time. I'm really going to hold it off until I get mine, something tells me I'm going to be unhappy. But the rest of the phone looks very good, and they made out that the chamfered edges were a brilliant idea... I don't want these edges if it causes this problem.

"This is a non-issue for me" -sent from a black iPhone 5

[read: sample selection bias]

If Apple sold food, I swear some people wouldn't send back a turd-sandwich.

"Brilliant design. Jony Ive really eats well."

I'm actually going to go into the Apple store tomorrow and see their display ones. I might give a quick scratch or two hehe.

YES! Scratch it up see what the black model can handle... This is my plan before decide to keep black or go for the white model. Plus i want to see how the white even looks in person

Me too! Hopefully picking up a screen protector as mine arrives at my doorstep in the morning hehe. Awkward moment when they ask us why we have sand paper :p HAHA.

I await your impressions. Unless people come back grossed out by the white model, I will more than likely move on that when things die down.

True true, should i open my phone when i get it or would they give me a hassle to return in within the 30 days for a white model if i opened and used mine?

Most people have indicated that Apple reps are claiming "no questioned asked" if you're within the 30 days. I'm in a similar quandary, but will likely load up the black model and just use it until I can locate a white in 32gb.

I think it's fine if you open it and return it but they might not have stock. I don't even know how to approach swapping with my carrier in UK.

Thats what i was thinking i got a 32gb as well, two local stores told me no questions asked, and one told me 14 days....

And it is 30 days from when you placed your order correct?

They might not have any 32gb white models in until past the 30 days.... Hopefully they would take that into consideration considering...

If that is the case, I'd just tell them to take the phone back completely at 29 days and to re-order in white. No sense leaving it to the whim of a store clerk. Though I am sure that we will get on a list of some sort in order to secure an available unit when it came into stock.

So just use my black model in the mean time, and then when im up on the 30 days just return and place an order for white? Would this mess up my contract at all?

My carrier, Sprint, even puts on their T&C page that iPhone users have 30 days to return the phone and cancel the contract. I'm sure I'd have to fight them over a second activation charge, but I'm confident that I can win that battle.

I'd say check with your carrier, then use the black phone if you're so inclined. That is what I plan on doing.

That is ridiculous to think that it is acceptable to use a black sharpie to "solve a problem" on a 600+ dollar device....

It's a *phone* bro. It'll make calls. It'll surf the internet. It'll give you ******* maps. Just chillax about this thing.

sounds good, i just don't want to cancel my contract if i do a return/exchange of colors.
