Mmmmm doesnt look as good and I worry about only part of the pic having the flash. Current photos with flash on the i4 look like they were took in the day/light on.

;)

Alot of folks have been fretting over the naming convention.

Personally, I prefer iP5. The "S" just screams evolution and not revolution.

...and my argument is that Apple knows this. Never again will there be a "xGS" or "xS" for that reason. Why sell themselves short when they could hype the **** out of it?

Hopefully that is the case. Having the flash offset from the lens helps to eliminate redeye. Notice that in virually all point/shoot cameras the flash is to one end or the other. That's no accident.

Oh, how I love puns.

No way.

Glorious Stereovision!

Cases are going to look REALLY ugly with 2 holes in the back. And black rubber rings around the flash still. Wow...swiss cheese cases for us all!

I'm thinking there will be an iPhone 4s but it'll just be the low end CDMA iPhone (the chinese one with the sim tray) with tweaked radio to run dual mode GSM/CDMA. Not other changes. Just like the low 3GS is still hanging around as a big seller.

These camera changes and other hardware changes including switching in the dual core A5 will be the iPhone5.

I also kind of wonder if flash will tunnel thought the device so it would be close to the facetime camera but far from the back camera. Or they will use a custom flash module that gives them more options on lighting and even use that light as an indicator for notifications.

Son of a dirty goat farmer that review is pure biased drivel. I bet Sony paid his rump to say good lunch meat about their unsafe baloney of a phone. Plus, you can tell this guys knows spat based on his comments, bad mouthing Nokia based on nothing. He should try the N82 once then he will see what a real camera phone is about.

Can you provide any useful information, or can you only trash-talk?

Is "unsafe baloney" a lunchmeat that's been at room temperature too long?

You apparently have some opinions about Sony vs. Nokia cameras - but you don't give us any information about the two.

Well for one the camera's on the Nokia phones(specifically the N8) uses a larger 1/1.83″ sensor(and faster lens for a phone at least) vs the SE phones, which are using a smaller 1/3.2" sensor(same as the iphone) that is backlit, that's at 8mp, which as those test show kind of degrades the quality, specially with the sensor of that size. Hell, even the Sony Satio uses a larger 1/2.5" sensor(a a slightly faster lens), which would have been the logical sensor to use their EXMOR they are schlepping all over this market.

I miss the "Like" option beside articles. I would have given this a "Like", out of hope that such a redesign would reduce red-eye.

Looks like an iPod Nano Camera, it is too small for a high res, low light camera. Also, the motherboard is too close to the camera, no need to a long cable.

He didn't say it was the best camera phone out there, it said it was the best ANDROID camera phone. Nokia is Symbian.

I merely pointed out the video, because that phone uses the same camera that Apple is rumored to be acquiring from Sony.

I think he had very valid points about the comparisons, exposure, light levels and white balance etc.

But I guess that because he disagrees with you, or thinks a rival product to yours had good points about it over the iPhone 4, he clearly knows nothing, was paid by Sony, is a "dirty goat farmer" or as you put it, a combination of all three.

Way to jump right to personal insults about him because he praises aspects of a rival product.

You sir, are a cretin, and a plebeian.

I would be happy for the new iPhone to have this new camera, although as he did say, the iPhone 4 has smoother video, and takes better close up photos.

But this new camera has built in image stabilization, better white balance, has more detailed shots in dim conditions.

All that means diddly squat when Sony's other phones are using larger sensors paired with faster lenses. If Sony really wanted to try they would put that EXMOR tech on the better camera the Saito comes with, or team up with who ever makes the 1/1.8" sensor(one of the largest on a phone right now) Nokia uses on the N8(and a few other cameras) and put the EXMOR on that also. This is Sony just being lazy and using marketing scam to give the perception of having a better camera on their phones.

not too big on cameras but that kinda looks odd... guess we'll wait and see. if it has a5, bigger screen, 64gb, and revamped os. total win :D

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

That's what I've been looking for someone to say. It looks like it should go on the nano and not the ip5.

If this is true, wouldn't most people inadvertently cover the flash when taking snaps in landscape mode?

There would have to be new cases anyway for other hardware changes (such as the rumoured larger screen).

To your first point, I'm sure it might require a slightly different method of holding the phone than people are accustomed to, but I'm sure people would find an alternate way of holding their phone pretty quickly if their finger kept getting in the way of the flash.

And to your second point, I agree that a new case will be necessary regardless. I'm sure Apple, considering their current quest is to create the thinnest devices possible, will make the next generation iPhone thinner than the iPhone 4. Whatever the case, I doubt it will be the exact same form factor, and thus will require a new case, regardless of flash placement or not. That's because many cases out there are created to fix the exact form factor of the iPhone 4.

I honestly don't care about the damn name of the device. I will be happy for an upgrade whether it is named iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or iPhone blah. I don't get why so many people are so fixated on the freaking name of the phone. Unless the name of the device is the iPhone 4G, it will not have any relevance to the actual phone.

However, I will say that I don't believe that it will be named the iPhone 4S for the sole reason that 4S has made it's way around the internet on way too many sites. Even if Steve Jobs originally came up with the name 4S before the iPhone 4 even came out, I don't see him going with a name that has spread around so much. He'll want to "wow" people by coming up with his own name that hasn't spread around like wildfire, or he'll just go the generic "iPhone 5" naming convention, like he did with the iPad 2. I just don't see 4S happening.

Can any professional/amateur photographer share his/her take on this?

Will the flash now further away from the lens make an impact on the final picture?

There has to be a reason for this...
