I ordered a Verizon phone, transferring my old phone number from AT&T. I hope they don't switch numbers untill the 21st or I'll be without phone service.

It actually says the porting process doesn't start until you power on your new phone.

I ordered my iPhone 5 from my iPhone Apple Store app using the tips from the folks in the iPhone MacRumors forum. Thanks!!

Started the order 2 minutes early, finished at 1 minute after the official start time.

Still had 1 more to order for a relative.

My Windows XP antique Thinkpad showed the Apple Store was ready at about 6 minutes after the hour.
2'nd order place painlessly.

Oddly, my Windows 7 T410 Thinkpad showed the "we'll be back soon" sign for much longer after that...
 
Any idea why I can't select "Pick up" as the option for the iPhone 5... I really don't want it to ship as its always a hassle, either between missing the shipment, or packages never arriving on time. I would much rather just reserve and pre-order my phones, and then pick them up in my local apple store on the date.

Previous iPhone releases let me do this, but the option for the iPhone 5's are grayed out... What gives?
 
You should be able to. I just changed mine. What until the Order Page says "Processing Items" and then use the edit info option.

How long did it take to go from 'Received your order' to 'Processing items'?

I've been stuck on 'Received your order' for over 20 minutes now. I did receive an email confirm thanking me for my order
 
Ordered an iPhone 5 White :)

After I had my 32GB 4S stolen 2 months ago, buying a used iPhone 4 to fill the gap felt odd since I didn't have Siri or 1080p video features anymore.

Who else thinks we should get these phones a day or two early (as prior years have shown)? Guess it's up to the shipping companies :)
 
Sprint was up for a few seconds and I got to the iPhone 5 page and it prompted me to log in, and when I did it glitched and said the site was down. Come on!
 
Missed Applecare+ through App. Couldnt find it anywhere in a hurry. Did anyone get to order Applecare+ through the App?

Yes I got it on the app. Don't remember how (sorry) but it wasn't obvious. Put phone in cart first, then option for accessories comes up? Think that was it... Yikes - $800 CAD for an unlocked 16 plus warranty.

What I couldn't find was a way to pick up in store.
 
Yeah, and they sent me an email confirming the change.

How did you do this..? I went to my order, clicked edit. But i get an error message that says order is processing, go to my account to make changes. Am i not in the account? ? :confused::confused:
 
So if I received a reservation, so long as I reply to the follow up email I am guaranteed an iPhone at my door step by 21st?
 
I did not see this as an option while I was checking out. But I was in a hurry to get it ordered before it stopped working... and so I could go back to bed for another hour and a half. :p

Apple Gift Card was available as a method of payment.
 
Got my pre-order in through Apple for my wife and one for me.

We have the AT&T Family plan, my wife has the main number, and mine is an addon line. With her order everything was fine, it kept the same text/voice/data plans.

With mine it wanted me to switch my text from the $5/200 to the $0 or $20 text plan. Did anyone else run into this? I'll have to call AT&T to get it set back, but at least it looks like my grandfathered unlimited plan remains in place.

Anyone else experience funkiness with a Family plan?

Same here. Main line (though not eligible for subsidized pricing) stayed on our 4GB data plan, but the add on line (but it IS eligible for upgrade pricing) forced me to choose between the new plan (in my case, 5GB/tethering). I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact that I'm renewing a contract with one and not the other or if it's something funky just because we have a family plan.
 
After 4 years I decided to finally give up my grandfathered unlimited (but throttled) data on AT&T for better coverage through Verizon. No more waiting up to a minute for my phone to connect after I dial!

The Verizon store was ready 5 minutes before midnight in So Cal. Apple Store down until about 12:25 for me. Was going to carry my number from AT&T, but did not have my account number. Could not get onto my AT&T account to get it.

Now that I have the phone ordered, I'll straighten out the details later. I checked my credit card and it was not charged right away. I wonder if they wait until it ships to charge it, or if they are just saving bandwith/time by not processing the cards immediately.

They will charge your card when it is shipped.

It was not possible to order via web for both AT&T and Apple Store and I used my iPhone without any issue.

If you call ATT they will put you on hold and then eventually the pre-recorded message stops and you are stuck listening to someone else who is waiting in line to speak to someone.

I did. Used the Apple Store App on iPhone 4 with At&t. I got all the way to the end and realized the shipping address was my Mother in law (master account holder) and I wanted to change to in store pick up. When I went through again, I got this email.

No problem ordering through te iPhone app. Couldn't figure out how to add AppleCare, though. Website still hasn't come up, but the app and the verification with AT&T worked fantastically well.
