iPhone 5 Now Available for Pre-Order

im so pissed

att says my account is not eligible for upgrade until september 25 even though i haven't had a new phone since the day the regular iPhone 4 came out and it says contract has ended when i check the contract status on my account on att.com WTF?!?!?!?!

Im freaking out over not being able to change the address. I changed it on the default account tab. But it wont let me change it to the order..😡
 
Ordered the black 32gb on verizon's website a couple minutes early and got a confirmation email at 12:02 and an authorization text on my phone at 12:10.

Verizon definitely had their $hi# together!

Im in the same boat.

I just checked my shopping cart in the apple store and had 2 iphones in there (from botched attempts to purchase). I'm thinking that might have held up the processing. I deleted them a few minutes ago...we'll see what happens.

Not to worry friend. Many users have reported that once their order status changed to "processing" that they could then change the address. I am waiting to do it to and will post if I have success.
 
Said I wasn't eligible for the early upgrade price until 10/8 and I got my 4S on launch day.

Pricing was $649, $749, $849.

This is for AT&T.

Did anyone else have this issue or were you getting the +$250 early upgrade price?

AT&T let me in then site crashed. How is it that a multibillion dollar corporation can't plan a successful launch after years of practice?

Last year I had the same issue with AT&T - primary line now has an 16-18 month cycle, other phones have a 24 month cycle. Fortunately, with 5 lines, I usually have 2 available. So - son gets the wires iP4, daughter gets my iP4s, wife gets iP5 16gb white, I get 32gb black😀

Or Apple did what they did with the new iPad and deliberately limited pre-order stock so that there is plenty for the stores on launch day. Remember how pre-orders slipped quickly then, but then on launch day the lines were relatively short and there were stacks of iPads all over the place? iPad had a record weekend, so perhaps Tim Cook is hoping the same for the phone.

Or maybe the rumors about supply issues were true, or Apple's aggressive rollout strategy (8 countries next week, 22 more the week after, 100 by year end) has thinned allocations a bit.

Luckily my grandfathered unlimited data and 1000 messages where preserved when ordering through the Apple store.

1. No way, their forecast cant be off every time since 2007, its strategic decision, keep people wanting that phone.
2. Stores will have some, but it will not cover demand. iPhone is not like iPad, its totally different, demand for iPhone is much greater.
3. To some point you are right, but again, those decisions and information are not something they will tell you 24 hours before they are late....everything was known long time ago.

I know in the past, any changes to your AT&T account (different messaging package, add a line, etc.) caused the contract date to roll back.


After 1.5hrs I have successfully ordered my 32GB White iPhone 5. I opted for the 5GB DataPro + Tethering since I'm traveling more for work. Hopefully 4G will be fast enough to support VPN and Citrix to a usable state. Back to sleep! 🙂
 
What's the point in being awake and trying to place an order if shipping has already slipped 2 weeks. Let's face it if you don't have your order in now, your screwed until early to mid October, good night. People with business accounts are completely screwed as we can't go to the Apple or ATT store to purchase, we have to purchase online through the worthless ATT Premier site.
