They do that to make sure the card is valid. they usually only do it once though. it will come off in a few days then they will charge you for the iphone when it ships
I was falling asleep before the on sale and even during my vision was getting bleary but then after I got it confirmed I got a surge of energy. Though it's fading now so I'll be out soon.
If both orders are thorugh Apple, it may be possible. Dont get your hopes up but call 1-800-MY-APPLE and see what they can do. I'm sure you're not the only one. Sorry friend.
For those that have the Apple Store app, I'd suggest using that. Took me like 2mins to place an order and receive my confirmation email. Good luck.
We'll get the unlocked version (though that just opens up T-Mobile and various MVNOs along with AT&T), but not for a few weeks. Partly it's the carriers, and I think partly it's to reduce scalping. Having 2 big CDMA carriers makes it difficult to implement a fully open system like in Europe. Hopefully that eventually changes with LTE but it will probably be another decade until the 3G networks are ready to be shut off.

I think there were issues, particularly on the iPhone App, as there were last year. I'm guessing Apple will let people add it within the first 30 days, just as they did last year.

There will absolutely be huge lines at the stores next week.I got charged already the full amount is pending I thought they only charge once it's shipped I ordered from apple.

So for the people who ordered from ATT is your status for your order set as "Pending"? Just need some confirmation that this is normal..
Or just order it with your american express card they supposedly extend your warranty by a year on all purchases
Am trusting that what others are saying about changing the shipping address during the "processing" stage will work. I was able to get my order in through the Apple Store app, but the order is still at the "received" stage for a little over an hour and a half now. Have received a single confirmation email. Does this sound about right? I would like to know that others have had to wait for a bit to change to processing, were able to change the dates, and the shipping date stayed the same to 9/21. That is what I am worried about. I will update.
Yes, that's partly what has me worried as a shareholder. The carriers in Europe are balking at paying higher and higher subsidies, and the iPhone generally sells a lot better with a big subsidy. The US carriers got themselves in a pickle since people expect to pay $199 for a high end smartphone (whether iPhone or Android) so big subsidies will be around for a while. I'm guessing Apple will face more pricing pressure in the last 6 months of the first year of the iPhone 5, and that we may see a different pricing system overseas for the 5S.
