called a verizon store, they had iphone 5s in stock. drove 10 minutes and bought. No reason for this online reservation stuff. call your local provider stores, im sure they have them in stock.

If you're on AT&T, I don't think the stores are selling any at all. They are directing everyone to preorder. They are a solid month behind on filling orders. Someone tell me if I'm wrong here but that's what I understand.

Yeah, that's what I was told. They haven't gotten any stock since launch.
 
If you're in Dallas why where you checking zip codes in Boston?
And how are they showing up just for you and not everyone else?

I did that yesterday by typing in random numbers .. I didn't mean to check Boston. I just didn't see any in Dallas so I started going through random zip codes. When Boston showed up, so did Dallas. :eek:

Okay, actually, I have 2 questions:

1) How long does the store hold the phone for? I've read 1 day but also 1 week.

2) Is it true that there's a reservation cancellation link in the confirmation email?

I'm thinking of just reserving this one to be safe. I might be able to squeeze in a drive to the city. If they hold it for more than 1 day, I could see what's available tomorrow night, and if I'm able to cancel, I could cancel the one I'd reserve tonight if I find one closer tomorrow and am unable to make it to the city.

Edit: well nevermind, looks like Uptown is out lol. Hopefully better luck for all of us tomorrow! :eek:

They hold it for a week. I reserved mine last night, couldn't make it today, and it says "Pick up by November 4th." :)

Also yes, you can cancel.

Decided to add a line to my account for my sister, and of course she wants the iP5 :p. Anywho, after have issues yesterday with people holding spots in line for their friends (extremely frustrating that they gave the last ticket to someone who cut in front of me), I decided I would try the online reservation. Problem being, I am not seeing the message on the iPhone page about in store pick up. Have they stopped offering that now?

It exists. But did not for MST and PST customers last night, presumably due to the release of the iPad Mini.
 
I don't know guys, it almost seems like Apple has shut down the reservation system entirely. There's no option to reserve anymore and the home page of an Apple Retail Store that I checked no longer discusses phone reservations (it used to have a big graphic for that).

Can anyone who walks into an Apple Store today check to see if the banner about online reservations is still there?

I'm thinking they might have ditched this program.
 
I'm in NY and managed to get one last night. I got the processing order email but not the ready for pick up email yet. It's almost 1pm here. Does it usually take this long to get the "pick up" email??
 
Oh S****t!!!!, did they scrap this program? I got IP5 for myself a few weeks ago and just went in to order for my wife but it is not giving me pick up option at all- says "not eligible". WTF???? I am in LA btw.

So it varies day by day or is available at 10 pm daily?

It's available at 10PM daily for the iPhone 5's right now. Eventually we will get all caught up on orders and it will be available all the time.

Ok thanks for checking. I have not seen it "offline" like this before so I assumed they were shutting it down.

I wonder if they are updating or changing the system in some way. A timed "hold" so you can complete your purchase without losing it in the cart would be nice. Ticketmaster does this.

I think Apple wants people ordering online rather than waiting for 10pm every night. It seems their production constraints are killing them. Only the savvy people here will know to go online at 10pm for store pick up.

i hope they havent shut down their reservation system. that will be pathetic!

i just talked to the apple rep he says that the reservation system has been shut down coz of iPad mini so you have to come at the store at 8AM get the ticket for the iPhone!

talked to another rep and he said that the reservation system will be up tomorrow. it was down because of iPad mini! now we have to wait till 10PM to see what can be done!

Sometimes I think they should shut down the stupid thing. I've been at it for 10 days. Twice I got a reserved phone in my cart only to lose it before completing the purchase. Feels like 10,000 people fighting over 10 phones.

For anyone in Houston, after trying unsuccessfully for one week, I walked into the Galleria store today and picked up a 32GB Verizon model. They were out of 16GB. Apparently, they will tell you they don't have any in stock if you call to ask. Just walk in and see if they have any available.
 
I hope the system is back up tonight... the person I talked to on the chat insisted it will be back tonight. How awful luck would it be that when I actually need it, they stop the program.

Wednesday night was my first time trying to reserve an I5. I was able to get one without any issues. Apple store employees told me I was extremely lucky. So far I am loving this.
