iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

Just wondering, after how long does the reservation move from Processing to Ready for Pickup? It's been over an hour and I still haven't received an email.

Side note, I'm surprised by how dead this thread is tonight :p

Grabbed one black 64gb AT&T in Tampa earlier - thought I lost it as the wi-fi on iPad was messed up so I immediately switched to my iP5 Apple Store app and ordered it successfully.

I expect to wake-up & received later around 7:30am the we're ready for pick-up e-mail.

The first time I ordered successfully was via Apple.com - the refresh /the sign-in, set-up (make sure your cc has funds & with most up to date info etc), selecting the options/availability in stores - if in stock, picking a pick-up store / or the whole ordering process is so much better via app Apple Store.

Do they even get a shipment on Saturday? Maybe thats why.

They aren't put up for reservation unless they're actually in stock. There were none available last night and that was Friday. Maybe I won't get it until morning when the employees begin arriving and arrange the reserved phones.

I don't know if they get shipments on Saturdays, I mean they must if they had them available tonight, but apparently some stores get their shipments through FedEx and some stores get it elsewhere... their stock process seems pretty secretive.

So last night I ordered a 32GB Black Verizon - and somehow in my haste (there was stock at every store) I hit the wrong button and made an order to ship the goddamn phone. When I didn't receive an email today - I went to the website and saw that I could expect to receive it in November - NICE.

Well I cancelled the order.

My question to the board - has anyone ever found stock at a store on a Saturday night?

Or are all the phones gone during the day...

I will again try tonight - but I am not holding my breath.

Well, there was one in SoCal tonite - grabbed it before I did another bonehead maneuver.

We reserved a phone Saturday night a week ago and still don't have it.
They tried to sell it on Sunday, but the 'reservation system' was down.

Tried again on Monday but there were issues with the process. This is a new account and there was a problem with the setup because of the missed start on Sunday. Then they said the number wasn't portable and they would escalate and call us back. They never called and when we called, no one seemed to know about it and denied Reservation issues. Called the current cell company and they said port is done on their side and ready for receiving side to complete.

One of my calls to ATT to check the status on their side says that their system doesn't show a temp phone number - apparently new account ports assign a temp number to set up the account before the port is complete.

Finally Apple store said they would hold it until Monday (tomorrow) as we had a funeral (unplanned) and wedding conflicts that prevented us from spending another 2 hours at the store.

All and all I calculated that we have spent almost 4 hours in the store and about 6 hours on the phone trying to 'fix' this. Glad I didn't go to nearby city to reserve this.

This time, if they get stalled, I'll try to get them to take it to ATT down stairs in the mall. One time on the phone they said they've done that before.

Unfortunately, I told my daughter to go to the Apple store because they will get it right (vs. ATT). No one has offered anything to remedy the issues - not even an apology. I guess holding the phone was supposed to be a generous offer.

I was able to reserve a phone last night (32gb AT&T black). I went to go pick it up today but I was told by the manager that they would not sell it to me as a device only phone. I initially signed up for a new contracted when I reserved the phone.

I guess waiting in line before the store opens is the only way I'm getting a phone.

thats not correct. i have bought two iPhone as a device only which are factory unlocked.!

No. Take a break on Sundays. You should try your best on Friday or Saturday and if you get lucky, go as far doing a mini-road trip for the pick-up the following day, just to get over it. :p

That's what I did.
Found one Friday night and had to drive 45 minutes away to go get it:)

went in to Apple store, picked up a 5, 16G, black, they had a small amount of stock but at least they had some. Online showed none available, but called the store and they had some in stock, go figure.

So for those not having any luck the night before at 10p, try calling the store the next day soon as business opens, just might help, worked for me.

Albuquerque, NM Apple store.

But did you buy as a subsidized phone on the 10pm system and then at the store - switch to a full priced phone?

yes i reserved it as an early upgrade. went to the store Fashion Place gateway. and told him i need it as no commitment. he canceled my upgrade and sold me as the device only.

The policy might be different from store to store and from state to state. I'll try picking another store for now.

yeah might be. but i called both the stores in Utah. both of them told me you can buy as a device only.

Actually, I tried last night at 10pm and one store was showing in stock for a 64GB AT&T Black (Emeryville, CA), but it was too far for me to go.
