iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

So I posted in the other thread but didn't realize there was this one.

I'm trying this tonight in central time zone. And just a few minutes ago I put in a lot of eastern time zone zip codes, and none of them had stock of any black verizon phones, nor any 64gb verizon white phones. Is this normal or is the website not working for me? I would figure all the east coast metro areas, one of them should have a single phone and it would show up as in stock.
 
Most of the east coast is having a tiny weather problem, so they may not be getting regular stock... Or not be open to update each store, depending on location.

Couldn't find any 32GB Black AT&Ts here in the Atlanta area either. I also tried NY, MD and FL ZIP codes to no avail. Wasn't really expecting anything in the northeast of course, but just checked for the hell of it. Agree that it's probably that small weather problem.

I read the methods of buying a new iPhone.

But what if you want to be a new customer? Do I have to go through the whole process first, won't that cause me to never secure a reservation?
 
How long after 10PM should I give up?

edit: I give up, 40 minutes of refreshing and nothing :(

Guess it varies from location to location. I tried several nights from 10-11. The first few nights there was never an in stock situation within 200 miles of my location. The last couple of nights the Apple site showed in stock at 10:05, 10:12, and 10:15 at several locations within 100 miles of my location. I pulled the trigger at 10:15 on the seventh night and picked up the next day. I got mine at the Saddle Creek store in Germantown, Tennessee.

If you're a long timer on this thread you may know I HAD ATT and switched to verizon. It took me 4 nights to get a verizon/black/64. I lasted 1.5 weeks on verizon before i switched (me and my husband) back to ATT. Been trying to get an ATT black/64 since 10/16...

You require voice+Data right? I also contended with this issue in my mind tremendously. However I Came to the conclusion that I will just use google voice to disable the iphone and forward all calls to my work desk phone, which I have softphone setup on my laptop which I can then answer with headset! I'll just switch the google voice settings over when I get off work to forward back to the iphone.
 
Is anyone going to be trying tonight on the west coast? I've been trying the past 2 nights around 10PM with no luck, so I think I'll start a little early tonight.

When I grabbed mine on Friday, I placed everything the cart around this time. At about 9:55 I started clicking refresh, took me until 10:10 to actually find one. Good luck.

yeah, i ended up going with the 32 vzw since almost every store in OC had a 32 black. 16 was probably enough, i've gotten by on 16 so far, but i was considering it to save the 100 bucks, but it seems 16 just isnt shipping to the stores - they've been out for like a week .
 
Hm. I sat there from about 9:45 to 10:30 hitting locate every few seconds. (I was watching Whose Line is it Anyway, so it's not as sad as it sounds.) Everything always came up as unavailable in the Bay Area. Here's a question: If a store on page 4, say, has one in stock, will that be moved to the front, or do I need to check all the pages each time I hit Locate?

gotta move through the pages. the pages are organized by proximity to the zip code you entered, not by stock availability.

Best of luck to you! Hopefully, you'll be able to snap yourself a 64GB black AT&T before not too much more time goes by...

same in oc...i cancelled my 32gb order about a half hour after placing it tonight - i decided i'm not spending another 100 bucks of my money, just because there wasn't stock of the one i actually wanted (and I already had to return it once b/c of noise canceling headaches). im with the above poster on the windows phone 8, im not sure i wanna spend 800 dollars (after tax + applecare+) for an extra row of icons and LTE. i'm not that loyal to anything except OS X

My contract with AT&T expring mid next year. But I thought leaving AT&T after that and since iP5 Verizon is better for me being an international traveler.

Got an black 64 GB iP5 Verizon that I eventually purchased full price on my first week of week trying. I even drove 100 miles one way to pick it up.

I've used an AT&T nano sim for a month. I cannot live without a LTE data speed. And as a switcher, I loathe Verizon's expensive shared data plan (especially am planning to be on it on single device and I've been using over 6GB of data a month).

With just the first night of trying, I was able to find and grabbed a black 64 GB AT&T last Saturday. I picked it up last Sunday. AT&T system was messed up that prevented Apple let it complete the activation process on early upgrade. Took hours so finally Apple relented to me because I waited and frustratingly tried for so long ... they cancelled and refunded then let me purchased it full price without contract. I also returned my flawless iP5 black 64 GB Verizon there. Got the refunds back to my account already.

I just need 8 months of LTE with AT&T then I will leave them once my contract expires.

The thought about being free from the power or manipulative price controls of the duopoly AT&T and Verizon excite me.

I can live happily with all flexibility of no contract on unlimited reasonably priced and still fast fake 4G with T-Mobile and/or straighttalk next year. And possibly LTE on refarmed T-Mobile network. I don't use voice a lot.

Most importantly, my 2nd black is flawless again. It was manufactured week 43.
