Just a heads up to people. I talked to a few people at my Apple store and they said the store reservation availability is correct. The passed 2 days they themselves only got 1 phone each day. I thought there was something maybe wrong because none of the 30 stores near me showed stock but according to them its correct.

I was able to get a black 32gig AT&T last night for the Braintree store, picking it up at lunch....so they are available in the area. Also, the AT&T store near my work sold their last one 5 minutes before I walked in yesterday as well.

I'll have to try again tonight, then again I'm mostly in the Providence area so hiking all the way up to Braintree is a bit much. I've commuted into Boston for 3 years and I know the pain involved.

I contacted an Apple store in the UK to try and see how much stock they see each day or week so that I can see if the online reserve system is worth trying.
But they were as vague as always, they state that they do get deliveries every day but they don't know what comes in or how many iphones there are.
How can they seriously not know what comes in and how much stock is arriving!
I honestly think there is something wrong over at Foxconn.

Advice please: I have an order for 32/black/AT&T pending through the online Apple store with delivery estimated Oct. 19-25. Should I cancel it and try for a reservation? There are about a dozen Apple Stores within 25 miles. What is the success rate for people trying to reserve?

I'm in the same boat as y'all. I'm wondering if it will be worth it going to Galleria early in the morning before they open?

Yes it will be your only chance. There are two variable in play: did the Galleria store even get a new shipment and are they allocating all new shipments for online reservations, or do they said aside some specifically for people like you/me who want to walk in or line up in the early morning.

I took the chance last Saturday to pick up mine at the Galleria. Store hours shows 10am but went at 8am anticipating a long line like the time I waited for my ip4. This time, store opened at 8am and I was 5th in line. Waited only 10 mins to get mine but I needed another one for my wife which they didn't have anymore white ones left. They ended up getting a new shipment around 11am or so and I lucked out. I'll make another attempt this Saturday and either get lucky in the morning for a white one or wait there until 11am for another shipment hopefully.

Personally I would especially if you don't want to wait til that time frame. Your chances may be greater at an Apple especially if you have a few in your vicinity.

I got my confirmation email last night when I ordered, but I have yet to receive my 'come and pick it up' email yet. Is anyone else who ordered last night still waiting? I am located in Central Florida.

I got the email to come pick it up this morning. I'm in the bay area and reserved a 32gb black AT&T.

So I'm not actually eligible for an upgrade until 10/7 but I plan on doing the in-store pickup option at my local store in Annapolis, MD... Do you guys think low stock levels should still be an issue by then?

I canceled one with an Oct 11 delivery timeframe for this reason. I figure I can do better. Past experience has shown me that these deliveries typically happen faster than that estimate, but it also has shown that Apple stores have new items in stock before the backlog of online orders catches up.

If you're willing to look on a nightly basis, I think your chances of getting a phone in the next few weeks are extremely good, especially with so many stores close to you.

Anybody in southern Cal specifically LA area luck up on doing this? I made a few calls today and a couple of the stores mentioned the reserve option. Not one apple store I called or visited including Verizon had any. Wait, the Apple store at the Grove had a 64gb Sprint. Other than that nothing. So I was just wondering if people had luck here in LA. We have lots of stores but they seem to be out.

It's seems not of too much inventory for 16GB and 32GB around the LA/OC areas. I've been on the past couple of nights and there have been no inventory, if anything very low inventory (1-3 phones), and they get snatched up very quickly. There are some stores who I have seen that have gotten no inventory for any phones for the reserve process. It's defeating.

As the days progress, hopefully inventory will get better.

I now have conflicting advice from Apple sales. In-store sales and chat sales both said I can place a second order to reserve an iPhone at a store and then cancel the original online order if I am successful.

Apple phone sales told me I had to cancel the original order first. He was also quite rude when I expressed frustration that people on-line can get an iPhone tomorrow while I have to wait weeks even though I ordered first. He insisted that I was being unreasonable and would not even say he understood my frustration. Very unusual customer service experience for Apple.

Have any UK people been able to reserve a sim free phone? I've been unsuccessful in all my attempts over the past 3 days.

Pick Up Window?

So what is the final word on the window of time to pick up after reserving online? I've read a spectrum from "must pick up by 6pm the next day" to "within 5 days" to "within 2 weeks." Does it say on the email?

You gotta catch it right at the right time - around 10:10 each night is when the stock list seems to actually update.

I got my 32gb black vzw last night. At 10:05 there was no stock, but at 10:10 several stores, including fashion island in newport had at least one. Snagged one up and picked it up this morning.

Just got home, went and got my 32 GB in black from the store on 5th Ave in NYC :) the journey is finally over.. now to cancel my preorder from the at&t store

Congrats! I'm in same spot, any issues canceling preorder with AT&T? I tried to do so clicking the cancel link, but email says it could not be cancelled. I hate to tie up iPhone 5 inventory as others are waiting.

Last night I saw a black 32GB AT&T in Columbus but I don't remember the store name and I'm not familiar enough with the area to know if there is more than one.

Saw it too. It was Columbus east apple store.

I went in to the store to pre-order... Called them up to cancel and they said I have go in person b/c they need to swipe the credit card I paid with.... apparently, no charge whatsoever and full money back

Is it possible to buy it off contract/unsubsidized through this method?

I recently purchased my iPhone 5 32GB Black & Slate on Apple's website for pickup last night and picked it up today from 5th Avenue Apple Store. It only took me 30 minutes to pickup, activate and set up and I was out and about before I knew it :D coming from the hell hole of backorder from BS AT&T preorder

I ordered mine last night online and picked it up today about an hour ago (8pm). The store closes at 9pm. They told me that my iphone was reserved so as long as I made it before 9pm I was okay.

Does anyone know if the any of the apple stores in Miami have some in stock?

I live in Tampa and when I was trying to order one last night they showed they had stock available at the miami store (they showed me all the apple stores in FL). I would try again tonight and see if there is still stock available.
