Is this all we have to look forward to? Weeks of stories about the iPhone. Apple is rapidly turning into a one product company. Is there no news about new Macs? What's happened to this year's update for the iMac and MacMini? Is the MacPro ever going to be updated? When are we going to get an updated version of iWork or any of their other software products?

If you're patiently waiting for your new iPhone then good luck to you. I'm just really not interested in the iToys. I wish there was a separate section of the website just for the iToys so I could avoid it and never have to read another report about the iPhone and Apple's share price - neither of which I give a **** about.

That when Windows 8 phone will come out that the iPhone will be dead.
And that the iPhone was beta and Windows 8 Mobile was it? ;-)
Darn, he was wrong again
;-)

The best was when one of the head microsoft mobile division guys said that all WP devices will run WP8. They had to retract the statement at the same time they were running the thanks for being a beta tester ads. So basically anyone who bought Microsoft's Nokia Lumia 900 got a phone that was no longer supported a month after it was released.

WP ecosystem is terrible and getting worse as more and more large developers are leaving the platform. Look at the top apps in their app store and they are all garbage.

People bragging about the GS3 having internal and expandable storage? Well, you're still stuck with 64GB because internal and external storage are managed differently on android. Right?

The main reason people write articles like that is for ad revenue. Everyone knows the new iPhone is amazing. So if they write a story (however poorly) saying it isn't, that'll catch people's attention. Thus, more web traffic and ad revenue.

It's pretty disgusting, actually.

What exactly are you talking about? On SGSIII one can have 32+64=96GB of storage and use all of it (not to mention that 64GB is actually swappable so in a ways the storage is actually unlimited). Obviously it is mounted as two separate volumes but so what?

Why compare the sales of the 5 with the S3? Apple has only 1 main phone whereas Samsung is marketing different products for different types of customers. At the end of the day, Samsung is still selling more smartphones than any other company, including Apple.

That sounds good (and it is). I think it shows just how dominant iPhone and iOS are in the market and that no matter how some try to knock it off, copy it or simply steal it, we are seeing something rare these days: Brand Loyalty.

Brand loyalty was a big thing in (ahem) my day because companies treated their customers like a valuable part of their business. They did the little extras. They dealt with problems not only fairly but in an over the top manner. If you owned a Rolls-Royce and it broke down in the middle of Arkansas, the company sent technicians to you. That's the idea that Apple has updated with their Rolls-Royce line of products. They want our money and there's nothing wrong with that but they know to build loyalty, they have to keep earning it. When I got a rebate on the iPhone 1, that impressed the heck out of me. Others would have cut the price and said, "Too bad, suckers!" This company won't please 100% all the time but they TRY. Others don't even care.

very well said. I think the same way.

I'm going into AT&T on Oct21/22 when the Note2 comes out. Trying all the new phones and making a final decision after actually seeing and using them IN PERSON.

Let me see and actually hold this amazing iPhone that is the perfect size and those big bad samsung phones that i can't fit into my pocket.

Of course, it's more than just that...but, I think it may be a good time to at least try the Android phones to get a REAL idea of their user-experience. If one day, the iPhone comes out with a satisfactory screen size and is not missing features that may be available on most/some Android phones, then I will look again.

I don't hate the new iPhone, but the latest is disappointing with respect to the current competition. Make two iPhones, and be amazed at those sales results.

well I have been there, I also thought to try Android twice and each time I was so wrong. my life was a mess.... during sunny day light you can't see a thing on stupid3 (samsung s3). cant hold in one hand and type a text, imagine driving and wanna dial a number but you need to first hit the sleep button on side, then slide your hand on the bottom to go to screen and look for text message. damn.....
I wish I could be rich enough so I could throw that phone on road to smash that phone.

and minute I put back my new micro sim in my iphone 4s..... aaah I could breath.......

Screen size is exactly the reason I am NOT leaning towards the iPhone5. I still have a 3GS...but it will become an iPod once I get my new phone, whatever it may be. I will also not upgrade the 3GS to iOS6 as that will kill it's measly 256M (not faulting Apple, it's old hardware, I get it).

Was waiting, and waiting (with the 3GS)...but Apple is very stubborn about it's phone dimensions...oddly, as they made it taller (with a weird resolution) in the end.

you really think making a fat phone was too big a deal for apple.
have you ever hold a big size phone in your hand? guess not..... you know the spine of iphone family? its the home button and the width of an iphone, which makes it so likable.

i know it and do this every day and may be many times in a hour... i can take out my phone from my back pocket while holding my bag in my left hand and while walking, I can use MY ONLY THUMB to accomplish my text, my email check n one line reply while walking and listen to my Voice mail.
thats why only thats why apple did not increase the width of iphone.

Apple THANK YOU for not making a ugly looking FAT phone.

I thought android put apps and system stuff on internal, while external was for movies and other user content? That's how it was on gingerbread anyway. And unlimited, yes. But not really convenient to take out the battery and switch cards when you need to.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: What else is there to say?

Plenty, for one thing this is not just fangirls giggle buying on impulse, with these numbers I would say plenty of 1st time buyers. :D

Welcome to the party people.

Frankly, I don't care whether or not Apple beats Samsung. I just want my iPhone 5. :apple:

Well its still fun considering the nasty ceo running that company, love to be a fly watching his rants. :p

I don't think you're clear at all.

I know that the iPhone is a computing device with the processing power of an early 1980s Cray Supercomputer.

As a communications device, what you do when it "rings" depends on the type of communication. It could be an audio call, a video call, a short text (with or without media), or an email.

It's a media player which allows you to watch or listen to steaming or stored video or audio.

It's an information retrieval device. If you want to know how many carbs are in the teriyaki shrimp skewers at Red Lobster, you can type (or speak) your query into the phone and in most cases get an answer in a matter of seconds.

It's a gaming console, a still and video camera, an audio recorder, and a flashlight!

I don't know if it's a "way of life", but it definitely makes a difference, when you have this level of computing and information and communication in your pocket or the palm of your hand.

It's such an important invention that the very idea of it was immortalized in stone hundreds of years ago (as this picture I took at the Louvre in Paris proves. I didn't read the title of this piece, but I'm pretty sure it's something like "Youth with iPhone").

i guess the samsung ad never worked :D

Maybe it did in reverse, Nokia own tweeting seems to have helped people decide on the iPhone. You know a company is doing something right when their competitors are going bat **** crazy over your product.

Brought a tear to my eye, priceless. ROFLMAO A phone as you said is not a phone any more, to me the iPhone is my connection to the world and others at a level I never had before the smart phones came out, it just happen that the iPhone is done the right way for so many of us.

Listen mr. KING KONG: you are so wrong. it was way back in 2006-2007 and much before what you said but not now in todays modern world the most important thing you carry around you or under your pocket is your phone.

it is your personal assistance, it make you to talk to people, check and write emails, check your Facebook and let you comments too, and it let you find your way back while giving you driving directions, you wanna hear more what it can do. let me write what other things I do.

I watch my house with icam , connect my office with Logmein in case a problem or I need a file, carry my all websites password etc in 1password,
in case going for a small party, I prefer not to carry my big canon 5D because I have high quality camera in my phone which can take a good quality picture and video in case I need to,
watch my 5 office remotely with REVO APPS and can listen the conversation in case,
OK now I am bored and wanna listen to my music of 3.8 TB which is in my mac 100 miles away from me, i use AudiGalaxy app to listen to my music with extreme audio quality, and if I can't find a song I wanna hear then I open my Spotify to listen to any songs I want, oh there is a big game coming on TV, so what... I have SLING Media app where I can watch all my channels and even schedule DVR recording too.

so don't ever say that phone is just to make calls. It is the most important thing you carry and use most of in your life these days.

with Regards.....

I'll be getting mine at the Tysons Corner Mall in Vienna, VA. I work across from the mall. For the 4S there was a line, but it went by quickly because they so many 4S's in stock. I hope it's the same case this Friday.

This is not surprising. There is a lot of pent up demand for a new iPhone. Especially from the iPhone 4 segment. I know I will be upgrading as my iPhone 4 is getting a little long in the tooth.

I imagine 'pent up demand' is spot on. I skipped the 3GS because I don't believe in upgrading every cycle (and I'm not made of money). I skipped the 4 because of the glass back and antenna issues. I skipped the 4S… reluctantly, waiting for the next big thing… and here it is. Do you think I will notice the speed increase over my old 3G? :)

Oh, diddums. The iPhone 5 went on pre-sale all of 5 days ago and you're complaining already about a dearth of other news/products?

Mountain Lion and new Macbooks Pro and Airs in June, iPhone and iPods in September, iMacs and other products in the wind for October. Tim Cook has already stated that we won't see a new Mac Pro til next year (and if you look at the roadmap for workstation chipsets then it's obvious why).

Seems like the problem is in your imagination.

Just curious. How long did the SIII take to reach that number?

Took only 4 posts to get back into the Samsung Apple childish posting behaviour, wow.

Thanks. Can't wait for Apple's numbers to slap Samsung silly.

"That's 8 million morons who'd be better off with a big, plastic, ad-based phone from Korea. Did you know we make refrigerators too?" - Samsung

Isn't it the Android fans who love to brag about X-million new "activations" every day and XX% market share?

They never fail to vocalize, in the most juvenile of language, how "special" I'm not for using an iPhone.

Can we please skip all this nonsense, why does every single iPhone thread have to end up in a Apple versus Samsung debate.
I expect better from longtime members of this site.
For your information, half of your Apple gear is SAMSUNG.

I upgraded My 3GS to iOS, it runs fine on it.
