I imagine 'pent up demand' is spot on. I skipped the 3GS because I don't believe in upgrading every cycle (and I'm not made of money). I skipped the 4 because of the glass back and antenna issues. I skipped the 4S reluctantly, waiting for the next big thing and here it is. Do you think I will notice the speed increase over my old 3G?![]()
Why compare the sales of the 5 with the S3? Apple has only 1 main phone whereas Samsung is marketing different products for different types of customers. At the end of the day, Samsung is still selling more smartphones than any other company, including Apple.
I also didn't want the glass iPhone 4 and well didn't have money at time 4s was the same so I just decided to wait and I'm glad I did this iPhone 5 is aluminum and all black it's damn sexy lol …
… and can't wait to see the difference in speed and overall greatness haha
wow its faster great.. so now instead of waiting 1/10th of a second its 1/20th of a second.. thats awesome..
phones are fast already.. its like buying the newest ferarri that can now go 300MPH even though you never took your old ferarri to 200mph.
My my, can't you just enjoy what you have? I never get why people feel the need to insult others on forums for their own preferences.
these sorts of numbers make me wonder how on earth apple thinks people confuse samsung phones with iphones
clearly, people know the difference
Competition seems to be doing well.

If you went back to Blackberry, you should probably just accept that your wants and needs in a phone a very different than most. Nothing wrong with that.I struggle to understand the allure of the iPhone.
Don't get me wrong, I've been buying Apple laptops for over 6 years (and regularly repair, rebuild, and parts them out for a hobby), I've been using iPods for nearly 8 years, and i think the iPad is one of the best electronic devices out there.
But I finally got an iPhone 4s after years of saying "I think it's one of the best phones out there" and I was sorely disappointed. I kept it two months before selling it off and going back to a Blackberry. I'll admit I'm not a fan of touchscreens but I was willing to give it a shot.
But touchscreens aside I just don't understand. There's been little innovation on the iPhone in years, aside from spec bumps and minor cosmetic changes. Games and multimedia are really cool and nice and video/pictures are done well on the iPhone but at what cost?
As a phone it's medicore, as an emailing tool it's average, and as a communication device in general it's average at best. The battery life isn't terrible but it isn't great either. iCloud was prematurely released as was Siri. It's fragile and lacks good grip.
I don't mean to hate so much, but I don't get how Apple just releases pretty much the same old phone every year or two and breaks sales records with it.
So do people really not want a phone and just want a camera and game device? Because it seems like the iPhone is grossly overrated and has form over function more often than not.
I'll continue to support Apple computers, iPods, and iPads, but the phone just seems dated and misguided in it's purpose.
I lolledapple next week: we could have NEVER predicted this omg we're so humbled.
Actually Samsung is just as happy to sell their hardware inside another phoneThanks. Can't wait for Apple's numbers to slap Samsung silly.![]()
in Wonderful land?I just thinking to buy a iPhone 5. But still can't buy here.![]()

Oh, diddums. The iPhone 5 went on pre-sale all of 5 days ago and you're complaining already about a dearth of other news/products?
Mountain Lion and new Macbooks Pro and Airs in June, iPhone and iPods in September, iMacs and other products in the wind for October. Tim Cook has already stated that we won't see a new Mac Pro til next year (and if you look at the roadmap for workstation chipsets then it's obvious why).
Seems like the problem is in your imagination.

It's a modern smartphone - a little computer in your pocket with a persistent Internet connection, that plays music, makes phone calls, takes decent pictures, and knows your GPS coordinates. If that doesn't appeal to you, that's fine, it's not for everyone. But if you don't see how that is a very compelling device for many many people, then I think you are perhaps being intentionally obtuse.Best post I've read. I just don't get it either. I've been using Mac's ever since the colour iMac and I think they are great products. My friends all think I'm mad paying the Apple premium but I like their products so I just grin and bare it because I don't want to go back to Windows. I never joined the iPod revolution because I prefer to listen to a CD at home on my HiFi with decent speakers.
But I simply don't get the continued frenzy surrounding the iPhone. I have 2 mobiles - one for business and one for home. I would say that combined I don't use them both for more than 30 mins a day maybe. It's just a phone. I don't listen to music on the move, I wouldn't watch a film, play a game or surf the internet on that tiny screen so for me it's basically just a phone.
The iPhone 5 is not that different to the iPhone 4 and yet apparently millions of people will rush out and buy it. I checked the local price for the 64GB version unlocked (without a contract) and it was £700. I was amazed how expensive it is now. And yet people will be standing in line Friday waiting to buy one. Their whole life seems to revolve around the iPhone.
Like you I just don't get it. I'm more than happy with my 2 cheap phones. If I drop it and break it or lose it, it's no big deal - it's only £40 to replace it.
I'm sure I'm missing something about the enduring allure of the iPhone but I can't for the life of me think what it is. I've no desire to buy one and I could certainly think of better ways to spend £700.
-_-
Not sure if serious?
Anyways, i'll bite. Yeah umm Dropbox?
Also, i had a SGS3, and tried to use those NFC file sharing "bump" type of file sharing? and it DESTROYED my battery life.
Took only 4 posts to get back into the Samsung Apple childish posting behaviour, wow.
Can we please skip all this nonsense, why does every single iPhone thread have to end up in a Apple versus Samsung debate.
I expect better from longtime members of this site.
For your information, half of your Apple gear is SAMSUNG.

I think it's great that you're happy with your cheap £50 device. Carry on.Intentionally obtuse? No I don't think so. I can see why the tech heads or those who just want the latest must have gadget feel the need to rush out and buy a new iPhone every year but not why all the other people do.
I don't need a little computer in my pocket, I spend enough hours a day at my desk in front of my computer to satisfy that need. I can take pictures on my cheap £40 phone. I don't listen to music on the move. Why on earth would I want it to know my GPS co-ordinates? I'm not planning to call in a NATO air strike on the Taliban.
I'm not suggesting it's not a compelling device just like any smartphone is useful to have. What I don't get is why anyone would be willing to pay £700 for it when you can get most of those features on a cheap £50 device.
That is one of the most boring ideas of the afterlife conceivable. If anyone in the next life is concerned about money and sales numbers back here, the afterlife isn't really worth looking forward to...
Is this all we have to look forward to? Weeks of stories about the iPhone. Apple is rapidly turning into a one product company.
I'm going into AT&T on Oct21/22 when the Note2 comes out. Trying all the new phones and making a final decision after actually seeing and using them IN PERSON.
Let me see and actually hold this amazing iPhone that is the perfect size and those big bad samsung phones that i can't fit into my pocket.
Of course, it's more than just that...but, I think it may be a good time to at least try the Android phones to get a REAL idea of their user-experience. If one day, the iPhone comes out with a satisfactory screen size and is not missing features that may be available on most/some Android phones, then I will look again.
I don't hate the new iPhone, but the latest is disappointing with respect to the current competition. Make two iPhones, and be amazed at those sales results.
Well if you compare the experience of every Samsung handset with the iPhone and average then out the iPhone wins by a landslide. Why compare the sales of the 5 with the S3? Apple has only 1 main phone whereas Samsung is marketing different products for different types of customers. At the end of the day, Samsung is still selling more smartphones than any other company, including Apple.
WTF? I don't think it's unreasonable for a site called "Mac" Rumours to have some rumours/news about the Mac.
I'm not remotely interested in the iPhone, the iPod and Apple's share price. I just don't give a damn. All I'm suggesting is they have a separate section of the website for Mac fans who simply want to read about the Mac, like the good old days before Apple turned into a toy company.
