iphone huh? does the phone company come to my house to install it? I'd prefer avocado as that is the color of the rest of the kitchen

Yeah. Whenever I go driving, I like to wear my red shoes. Do you like shoes? I like avocados, I just had some yesterday, straight from Fallbrook, CA. I wonder if I should go with studded tires, or Blizzaks?

I have a 4S and will not be eligible until May 2013. By then I'll be considering if it's worth waiting for the 5S. With 2 year contracts there should be as many people on the "tic" years as on the "toc" years. So, I have no doubt the next iPhone will also break the current iPhone's new record, what ever that turns out to be.

I'm going to get one when I can walk into the store and buy one with no line and plenty of inventory. (Even if that takes several months)

I'm going into AT&T on Oct21/22 when the Note2 comes out. Trying all the new phones and making a final decision after actually seeing and using them IN PERSON.

Let me see and actually hold this amazing iPhone that is the perfect size and those big bad samsung phones that i can't fit into my pocket.

Of course, it's more than just that...but, I think it may be a good time to at least try the Android phones to get a REAL idea of their user-experience. If one day, the iPhone comes out with a satisfactory screen size and is not missing features that may be available on most/some Android phones, then I will look again.

I don't hate the new iPhone, but the latest is disappointing with respect to the current competition. Make two iPhones, and be amazed at those sales results.

...and Maps, and larger screen, and more ram, better front camera, etc. I had the 4, and dumped it for several Android phones since. I willingly sacrificed quality and stability with functionality. Going back to the iPhone with the 5 is going to be refreshing, now that it finally has everything I went to Android for.

I think you're right on screen size, it's a close second biggest reason to wait for the upgrade probably. The other stuff, not so much. Maps, remember we already had Nav apps that covered that pretty well. A better front camera and larger screen??? Probably not either, but everyone has their priorities. I'm not going to pretend that everyone should care about the same things I do and like the same things I do.

This is awesome - :apple: style

Just imagine what happens when iPad Mini gets released

This is gonna be one hell of a quarter for samsung:p

Screen size is exactly the reason I am NOT leaning towards the iPhone5. I still have a 3GS...but it will become an iPod once I get my new phone, whatever it may be. I will also not upgrade the 3GS to iOS6 as that will kill it's measly 256M (not faulting Apple, it's old hardware, I get it).

Was waiting, and waiting (with the 3GS)...but Apple is very stubborn about it's phone dimensions...oddly, as they made it taller (with a weird resolution) in the end.

That is one of the most boring ideas of the afterlife conceivable. If anyone in the next life is concerned about money and sales numbers back here, the afterlife isn't really worth looking forward to...

This is what i love about Macrumors. One minute we're discussing sales numbers, the next moment, the afterlife. ;-)

Girl friend of mine in Dallas lost control of her Android while taking stuff out of her purse--gravity impact shattered the glass.

Twenty minutes on the phone with me and discussing the ecosystem and she ordered an iPhone 5. I convinced her waiting a week or two for her new phone and the upcoming iOS 6 were well worth the weight. Not to mention the form factor, industrial design, materials, etc., which equates to high resale and quality construction.

She got more excited seeing the demand and sales published knowing she cannot go wrong with the Apple ecosystem.

I told her to wait for the next revision of the iMac.

With regard to online sales to individuals, revenue is recognized when the customer receives the product. So only those sales for which delivery is made by September 29th will be recognized in the September quarter. (Apple's FY 2012 ends on September 29th.)

With regard to sales to third-party resellers, for the most part revenue is recognized when the product is shipped to them.

So, technically, delaying delivery until September 30th or later for Apple.com orders will help boost 1Q13 numbers, even if those were technically launch day sales. Interesting. Not that the holiday quarter needs it...

I guess MicroSoft was right for a change

That when Windows 8 phone will come out that the iPhone will be dead.
And that the iPhone was beta and Windows 8 Mobile was it? ;-)
Darn, he was wrong again
;-)

Google's $708 stock price looks shockingly surpassable. Possibly even today.
And in the same week that Google will no longer come bundled, in any way, with iOS.

Yeah... Somewhere, Steve is smiling.

Stock price alone is not relevant, without knowing how many shares are out there.

Google's stock is at $709, but there are "only" 327 million shares out there.

While Apple's stock is at $699, there are 937 million shares out there.

This is why Google's market cap is only 232 billion compared to Apple's 656 billion. Heck, Microsoft's market cap is 261 billion despite their $31 stock price.

Guys lets buy 2 of every phone model so we can show Samsung they suck!

Then I'll not be able to pay my mortgage and then I'll go poor but I'm sure apple will look out for me

Selling 8 million is one thing.

Having enough actually BUILT and ON HAND is another thing.

Will 5s continue the climb? Not so sure. After all, the vast majority of people that buy the 5 will be not ready to upgrade (contract or desire) when it comes out.

but those of us that have the 4S and can't upgrade will do so, from day 1 my friend. :)

I just got my case that I ordered in the mail and holy crap this thing is thin. I am looking at it and am in shock that come friday my phone is going to fit in this thing. Well done .

Just curious. How long did the SIII take to reach that number?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out who's a winner inside and outside of court.

Why would you guys purposely mention Android or Samsung? The article had nothing to do with Android or Samsung sales at all and yet you just felt the need to put a jab in there?

If people want to complain about the number of Android supporters posting in the forums, it'd help if they stop bringing up Android in completely irrelevant situations. Unless you guys actually want to argue with Android supporters all day on MR?

If I didn't know better, I'd almost say that Apple enthusiasts have the same inferiority complex they accuse Android enthusiasts of having for always trying to compare Android and Apple

People bragging about the GS3 having internal and expandable storage? Well, you're still stuck with 64GB because internal and external storage are managed differently on android. Right?

The main reason people write articles like that is for ad revenue. Everyone knows the new iPhone is amazing. So if they write a story (however poorly) saying it isn't, that'll catch people's attention. Thus, more web traffic and ad revenue.

It's pretty disgusting, actually.

The original article was written by Business Insider, total linkbait crap.
