Kind of looks like Mr. Sammy Sung got his hands on an early image of an iPhone 5 and beat apple to the release. Apple sueing the Galaxy S II off the market around the world makes a lot more sense now...CONSPIRACY!!

How many times do we have to say this:
Leaks from case manufacturers ALWAYS prove that a new model is coming and show the form factor.
Don't believe me? We knew the shape and thickness of the iPad 2 MONTHS before it shipped. We knew the shape of the current iPod nano long before it shipped. Same with the iPhone 4, 3Gs etc...

These case and accessory leaks for the purported iPhone 5 are the real deal.

You don't go and make expensive tooling and start manufacturing cases and accessories in advance for something that is not real.

The iPhone 5 is going to have a bigger screen and a bigger home button. My money is flat out on it looking just like this:
(Watch and see. Just a few more weeks and you'll see what I'm talking about)

And if it looks like THIS picture, I will dump my Thunderbolt so fast!! iOS 5 and a larger screen SHOULD be enough to pull me away from android... time will tell.

No, he's right. And what's even more pathetic are those with "credit cards ready".... sight and specs unseen and unknown.

Of course it won't help in recovery, but it might help erase the data if you have the lock/pin code set to erase the phone after a certain # of wrong attempts. Just another "wipe" that requires no network connectivity (or interaction from the owner) for it to take place. Speaking more from a corporate standpoint here though; I don't hvae the autowipe enabled for my personal iOS devices (but I'm thinking about it :)

I did not know that after ten failed attempts you could opt to have your data erased, pretty cool.

I just reach for my phone way to many times a day to be entering an unlock code. I guess I feel swiping is easier/more mindless :)

the longer button won't accomplish anything? Don't sell Apple short on innovation.
That button is large for a reason, watch and and see.

I don't think we're going to see an elongated home button. It wouldn't accomplish anything.

Some have suggested that there will be more buttons in that space. Maybe, but historically, Apple has tried to keep the front-face as minimal as possible. I'm actually surprised the home button is on the front at all, since all other physical buttons/switches are on the side.

Personally, I think something new, other than buttons, is going to be appearing alongside the home button. Something that wouldn't work right if covered.

My guess is that the microphones are moving. I think there will be two mics - one on either side of the home button. They will work to assist in noise canceling during phone calls and will provide some degree of stereo separation when recording video.

This is, of course, purely speculation, but it makes the most sense to me.

If the screen and phone size increase I could see a need for a gesture home button. Some people may not have large enough hands to do gestures one handed, so with a home button to do it, it makes it so you dont have to reach to far up the phone in order to switch apps? I think that would be the best scenario... bigger phone... you have to make it user friendly for all shapes and sizes.

This i where I believe most android handset makers fail when they put the power on/off button on the very top of a 4.3in phone... its hard to get to even for the biggest hands.

I doubt it but it amuses me how quickly these Samsung guys can whip up a new Tab or phone design and throw it on the market so fast. Apple takes their time designing and testing because they don't come out with new models every 2-3 months.

I'm pathetic enough to do a pre-order sight unseen but that's just my confidence in Apple!

Not to mention that creepy haptic buzzing you feel when you tap some of those capacitive buttons on the front. I'm really glad Apple doesn't do haptic feedback. It's just plain... creepy.

Reports are coming out that it's already in mass production and that Apple will have lots on the release date. With a new *manufacturable* design, unlike the iPhone 4), we shouldn't have stock issues this time around.

I don't understand how anybody can look at these "leaks" and say they are an iPhone, for certain. The Touch and the iPhone look identical from the front, so this is just as likely to be for the Touch as it is the iPhone...not to mention the multitudes of other phones that share a similar design that this could be for.

We are all feeding this nonsense by responding to it. I wish Apple would stop acting like a bunch of monkey-brains and do this event already. This is getting stupid.

Who's to say this isn't the new Touch?

Just saying. Everyone is convinced we are seeing the design for the iP5...but this could easily be the new Touch.

I'm not a developer or anything, but if there WAS going to be a capacitive button on the front, would we not have seen something in iOS 5 to suggest something like that?

I'm putting my guess that this design is the one. First of all, Apple is months over the date that they would normally release a phone. Whether or not the white iPhone set them back I have no idea. Like android or you don't, the SGS 2 is gonna eat apples face if they don't do a redesign.

A company like apple isn't going to make you wait this long for an upgrade without something "magical" in the wings. With the SGS 2 coming, it would be dumb to do that. They're gonna do it right when they come out with one phone a year vs the freaking 50 android phones that come out every 4 seconds.

The iPhone 4 is wonderful, best phone I've ever had. But it's outdated in screen size among other things. And I'm not buying a 4s. My thoughts are the only people who are are those that don't have 4's.

You have to know they'll keep up with the Jones'.

Plus: I can't stand the iPhone 4 design with the glass on the back. It's uncomfortable. But I'd never give up that retina display.

i don't know why ppl keep saying this is maybe for galaxy s2? i own a galaxy s and the home button part looks totally different.. :/ i don't understand

Dont worry those are just people in fear of the next iPhone actually having a bigger screen, same goes for the people that say on this and other forums "it might be for the next iPod touch" first of all there is no rumors of a new iPod design going on so I don't know why companies making screen protectors would waste time making it for something that hasn't been rumored to be released anytime soon.

You have a point but my thinking is that with a bigger screen Apple decided they needed a large home button so you don't have to move your thumb quite as much.
I've played with the Samsung Galaxy II S and it has a big screen but a minuscule little home button which is difficult to just non-visually find and press...

I think we should just chill on all these leaks, all it does is build hype and eventually will generate disappointment.

Too late. I think most are already set up for disappointment.

Luckily Apple will probably cram just enough "newness" into it that it will all evaporate on release day.

Doubtful. What about the 9.7" screen on the iPad?

Not necessarily. The function can remain the same even if the hardware is different.

There's really no way to know until they show the real deal.

These rumors.... Are making me thirsty!

It makes sense. I can see where Apple would go with that, porting Mission Control' spaces to iOS (slide left or right to swap between apps).

I agree that they need to improve app-switching/multitasking. Being able to swipe between running apps is a good idea, and would probably help avoid an early death of the home button by having to double click all the time. But if swiping is the answer here, wouldn't it be better to just use the whole screen to swipe instead of a little button? As someone else said, maybe I am just being short-sighted. Afterall, I am nowhere as visionary as Apple's design team. But it seems using the whole screen since it is already capacitive would be better.

Exactly. That render is probably close to the real deal.
