I agree that they need to improve app-switching/multitasking. Being able to swipe between running apps is a good idea, and would probably help avoid an early death of the home button by having to double click all the time. But if swiping is the answer here, wouldn't it be better to just use the whole screen to swipe instead of a little button? As someone else said, maybe I am just being short-sighted. Afterall, I am nowhere as visionary as Apple's design team. But it seems using the whole screen since it is already capacitive would be better.

It would have to be a multi-finger swipe, which would only work if you were using two hands to operate the phone. The vast majority of the time I use my phone, I am only using one hand. If the home button is touch sensitive, a swipe could be done there using just the thumb.

Idk how some of you can be so dumb sometimes.

The new iPhone is most likely going to look like this. Obviously I don't know for sure, but these cases don't come out of thin air.

Cases for the iPad 2 leaked in DECEMBER showing what it would look like.

The long cut out for the Phone Receiver/Speaker includes the camera too.

I don't know why some of you are so skeptical smh.

I'll just say that if the mock up above is the real thing, then playing games in landscape mode (like the race one depicted) is going to suck seven different kinds of d**k.

The iPad is getting four-finger multitasking gestures in iOS 5. The fact that the iPhone isn't could suggest that they don't think these will work well on the smaller screen.

It's definitely bigger than the current 3.5" display, but it doesn't look big enough to be a 4" display.

Thank goodness for that too! All the ugly DROID are too thick and... Ugly lol Anything over 3.7 isn't really a phone anymore... I can't believe how people anticipated the BIONIC for that long, and the design absolutely blows!

Can't wait for the iPhone 5!!!!

I seem to remember a video showing how the camera and the sensors might be used to flip pages while reading a book without actually touching the phone, what if the new home button did exactly that? That would be sick.

The Samsung Galaxy S II is 8.49 mm thick to the iPhone 4's 9.3 mm. It has a 4.3" screen to the iPhone 4's 3.5".

Care to explain to all of us here how thickness and screen size are related ? Because I don't quite understand your line of thought.

Also, the Galaxy S II is 125 mm x 66 mm to the iPhone 4's 115 mm by 58 mm. That's hardly any bigger, quite something you can still consider a phone.

I think your signature is quite apt, the reality you live in seems quite the illusion indeed.

What if the iPhone 5 doesnt come out until next year? Maybe they are just wanting to consolidate all the carriers....

But are they making them like this because they know, or are they just second guessing on the basis of the cases floating around out there. (guessing a guess!)

Yes, they are just guessing. Apple doesn't even share this kind of information with it's "Made for iPad" partners until the last moment. Apple makes several prototype designs, some for actual consideration, some as placebos. Honestly this screen protector looks very similar to a Samsung Galaxy S. Do we think Apple would take design cues from Samsung?

They wouldn't risk losing customers by doing that

They could easily say that ios5 is the big thing this year. I'm worried that the new iphone is not coming this year as everything so far has been based on rumors and speculation. Apple themselves have not said anything!. I hope I'm wrong because I really need the new iphone.

kinda shows how much faith you have in apple, I mean why cant apple be the first to have a 4 inch sexy thin phone? its not like its impossible or that big, but people make a mountain out of a molehill.

His statements aren't necessarily connected. His statement that anything with a 3.7" screen or higher is too big is not necessarily connected to phone thickness as the way he puts it. Furthermore, I don't know that he's aware that there are phones thicker than the iphone 4, if that is even his benchmark. It may also be the case that he will recant on phone size when he sees a 4" iphone 5. Furthermore, he may be complaining on screen size rather than phone size, making the device size point rather moot. You are reading way too much into what he says and inferring a perceived attack against the Galaxy S 2.

Because it's been done. You can't be first unless no one was first before you.

I'm not perceiving it as an attack against the Galaxy S II nor would I care if it was. I'm perceiving it as an attack on the possibility of a 4"+ iPhone 5, something I personally would be very happy to see.

But I think the bolded part is right, for a lot of posters here. Unfortunately for the discussion level around here, that's usually how it goes. If Apple doesn't have something it's bad but it becomes good and perfect the moment Apple ships it.

not really, cause you must have not been reading about companies overseas beefing up production to 150,000 a day? and the people are watching apples shares closely so i highly doubt apple will say "oh look IOS5 the software will be released today while the new iphone will be released next year.. sorry" thats a suicide right there.

I said 4 inch, not 4.3 or 4.5 the only good looking 4 inch phone to me would probably be sony's at this point.

I don't understand people that say this nonsense. You talk as if a tapered phone is going to go from 12 inches on one end, to 1 inch on the other.

The taper would be MILLIMETERS. Jesus. You probably couldn't even feel it. I don't know how some of you people even know how to type sometimes, much less make complaints about stupid things like this.

I agree...:-/

Sexy and good looking are subjective. There are plenty of 4" phones. To you Apple might be first with a "sexy" 4" device, but that's entirely your opinion. No matter what you say, Apple is quite late to the "bigger than 3.5"" screen party if they do go for that.

I doubt that's the case, seeing as how he was looking forward to the bionic. It was announced as 4.3" phone way back in January.

ya i agree they are late, i dont understand why these clowns are afraid of a bigger screen, they act like if they pick it up their hands might break or their pants are to tight to fit it in.

Maybe true Apple fans are still stuck in the "super skinny" jeans trend that came back for a while last year...

Heck, even my jeans are "tight fit" and I can have a bigger phone in my pockets (my wallet is bigger than my iPhone for god's sake).

Yeah, exactly, no confirmation. The Chinese are just creating ******** cases that are just that...********. The iPhone 5 will look identically similar to the iPhone 4. I don't personally believe there ever was going to be a different design and that that myth was created by websites such as this one.

Lmao so now some of you think the phone isn't coming until next year? Yeah and miss the holiday season?

Give me a break..

It could be a possibility. Not saying it is going to happen no one knows, but it can't be ruled out...
