iPhone 5 working fine on BMW

You're saying that wrong.

iPhone 5 doesn't support iPod Out (sexy display above) because BMW doesn't have a snap-in adapter available for the new adapter yet. Everything else, including ConnectedDrive, works perfectly including text and email messaging over Bluetooth for the first time simply using the new packed-in Lightning cable.

Oh, it makes sense now. I see he was a former Acura owner/enthusiast who was at one point very worried about not getting enough attention in his Acura TL. Classic. I guess he moved up to BMW status over the years.

And yes, I know Quattro comes standard (well, I guess you could argue that since I think there still is a FrontTrak model of the A4 and A6). I've had 2 Audi Quattros. One was an A4 that was the biggest hunk of junk I've ever owned. I realize it's hit-or-miss sometimes with Germans. Just wanted to go back to BMW this time around. (I do miss my TT though).

The equivalent of a 335x would be an S4 (no more M3 equivalent unfortunately, although with a tune the S4 can actually outrun a E9x M3), which does come with quattro as standard. Why anyone would buy a FrontTrak Audi is beyond me...

You shouldn't admit to owning a lowly 328 (which anyone can lease for under four hundred bucks a month) on a public forum ;) My M5 cost above US$200k (HK$1,680,000) and that's still nothing compared to what I see on the streets around me on a daily basis.

The M5 is a midlife joke for a 60 year old lost in high school, needs to be boy-racer as he hauls the kibble.

It's the car BMW owners laugh at the most.

Which is funny, because the only people I see driving 328s in my area are actual high school students :)

Honestly, if you're going to try to brag about your car, you should at least own something that's above the bottom rung of the BMW ladder.

Lots of old E46's and E90's on the road, thank God for the F30.

The bottom rung of the BMW ladder is a 1 Series. The laughing stock is the M5, the car with no purpose. "I'm a race car!" No! "I'm a five-passenger family sedan!"

Do the sounds for notifications work? It's irritating to not have the text alert tones come through once my 4s is linked to my car.

In the F30 you hear the iPhone 5 alert tone and see its screen light up. A second later you see the envelope icon on the iDrive display, and you scroll through to Office > Messages to read them.

You guys and you Cars!! My Iphone 5--I have several as they are integrated into my seating areas on my G-650, that's Gulfstream:)

My 2013 Hennessey ZR750 is pretty fast too!!

0-60 mph: 2.8 sec.*
• 1/4 mile: 10.3 @ 139 mph*
• Top Speed: 224 mph

Re Porsche 911. Ip5 does not work with 997.2 gt3 with pcm3. USB will not control the phone with iPod in but it does charge it. Aux works fine of course.

Anyone who has a 991 should be ok with Bluetooth audio though.

Waiting to see if Porsche comes out with new cable or if the adapter works (prob not).

Ah well, frankly I rather listen to the engine than music in this car.

My e60 BMW just has aux in. No iPod control. So no change there.

Isn't that why people love it? A quiet 5 series with an F1 derived V10 isn't the worst thing in the world, especially on the track. Have you even driven one?

What is the 328? An E9x 328 at least has great steering feedback and that I-6 that everyone loved. The F30 on the other hand... light/vague steering and a raspy exhaust note from the 4 banger, which isn't even all that quick. So it's neither a luxury car nor a race car- so what is it?

It's a BMW... badge. Based on what you brag about in your sig, it's perfect for what you use it for :)

Does it normally use the white Apple cable, the proprietary plug or a Y cable?

My dealer doesn't seem to be able to figure out what's coming in my '13 Panamera. Their '12s use only the white cable, but apparently that changes if the new Online Services option is selected, as I have.

Bluetooth should work as it already does, no additional features there. MMI 3G's Bluetooth features are fairly basic. I'm heading to the Apple Store to see if they have any lightning adapters right now, if they do I'll report back on whether or not it works with my 30-pin cable connected to the AMI.

Not sure why the hate. M5 is a kick ass car for someone who needs space and wants to haul ass. Car enthusiast is a car enthusiast and I personally don't care if they drive a pos neon that does 10 sec qtr or a Ferrari. All gear heads are ok by me. Just go to super car Sunday in LA sometime you'll see what I mean. From super exotics to souped up Mazda rotaries. All gear heads shooting the ****. No class hate. Good times. Sorry but in la a Ferrari Lamborghini or whatever hardly get a second look. Unless that BMW is an m1 (not 1m) it's nothing special. But bmw are great cars to drive. But I prefer a flat 6 hanging out back.
 
No 30 pin adapter solve for my Audi (2012 A6) yet. Bluetooth music works but its ***** sound.

For now my iPhone4 will stay connected to the MMI interface for music and video. The 5 can connect via the lightning for charging and handsfree calling etc.

I think I may have to wait for Audi on this one. Not as elegant a solution as I hoped for but not the end of the world until they solve it.

What year is that pic from? Panamera ? What year? Love the panameras. Pretty polarizing design though. When I've driven my e60 into the ground it's on my short list for a daily driver.

My 997.2 has the same 3 connectors. The din round one is for the iPod cable that also uses USB for power. iPod connection requires the breakout cable. Just connecting USB to ip5 only charges. No playback. So for now I have an aux out the headphone jack.

My understanding is the panamera new boxster and 991 use PCM 3.1 which has bt audio profile and should control via USB only. But not sure on last point. Dealers aren't always too savvy on this stuff either. You might try posting on rennlist or 6speedonline forums.
