Because they made the least of this color. Smart move. Don't want to get stuck with too many of those!

Really? That color reminds me of the Lumia 1020. Don't remember hearing anyone say the 1020's color was ugly.

....As for what I'm doing, not sure. Thinking of fixing the display ($30), but also considering upgrading his to a iP5 (AT&T has referbs online for $50). Or, upgrading my phone (iP5) to a 5s and giving him my old one. . . $199.

Decisions, decisions.

Go for that last one. ;-)

JMHO..As for teenage boys and the 5c, I don't think they are the target market for it (they're probably more the target market for Droid's, One's, S4's and maybe throw the 5s in there - cause specifications and how that looks to their fellow teenage boys matters to that group).

The 5c goes for that other side of the equation, teenage girls and women who want an iPhone but would love something that looks "cute" and goes with their gym outfit etc.. But they won't be pre-order people, they'll be walkins.

I know without asking that if I took my wife into an Apple store in 3 months to update our 4s's and she'd go for a 5c and wouldn't care if it was last years tech or this years tech. - to her, it'd be an iPhone and it'd look beautiful (sold to her right there - I'd have push on her heavy to go for a 5s).

The iPhone 5 has been killed off after a year because it clearly hasn't lived up to the hype Apple likes to build

No. The iPhone 5 has been discontinued because it didn't support many LTE bands. With the 5c, any UK network is now compatible. I imagine it's the same in other countries.

That's why they've released 2 new phones this year.

It's the same reason the 3rd gen iPad was short-lived; it didn't work on UK (and I assume, other countries') LTE bands.

This is why the iPad 2 still sells as new (it works on any 3G network) and the 3rd gen does not.

In further support of the iPhone 5c as a 'new' phone; improved FaceTime camera, larger-capacity battery, and it's the cheapest way to get a 32GB model since the 3GS.

The biggest surprise with the 5C for me was the 32GB model. I thought for sure it was going to be a 16GB only product.

IMHO, I think the Blue, Green and White ones look pretty good.

There's so much crap on this forum that is just flat-out wrong, it's hard to fathom.

This is NOT an iPhone 5 with a plastic case. Anyone who thinks that didn't watch the keynote. The design on the inside is different as well. AFAIK, the 5 doesn't have a steel-reinforced frame. The battery is larger.

I don't think the 5c will sell poorly at all. I actually like the design better than the 5s, and I suspect it will hold up better to falls. I'd be happy using the 5c without a case; the 5s, not so much. I'm going to get one of these, still not sure which one yet. Like the design of the 5c more, but the fingerprint unlock and improved camera draw me to the 5s. The better/faster processor is not terribly important - these things already have more than enough processing firepower, unless you're a serious gamer (who has the time?)

Actually YOU are incorrect. Its the iPhone 5 with a larger battery and a colored polycarb rear shell.

That's minimum... you spin figures more than Apple do. Will people on minimum wage in the West be buying iPhone 5S and 5Cs - I highly doubt it.

2 seconds in Google showed me this - http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2012-07/06/content_15555503.htm

2011 average in Beijing was 4,672元 or 730$ or 460£ - it's likely gone up further since.

As someone who lives in China majority of the year, I facepalm every time I read a post claiming how poor Chinese are - the middle make up an enormous part of the population, and they are the ones earning average and above wages. They also have more disposable income due to cheaper living costs overall.

And Hong Kong is actually an EXTREMELY wealthy city. 8.6% of the city's population are US Dollar millionaires compared to 4.5% of the US. Anyone who thinks Hong Kongers are poor has obviously never visited there........

Probably safe to say that the Pee Yellow:) color will be the slowest of the bunch.

Definitely with guys, but I don't think they'll be the big buyers of the 5c. I'd guess women, at least here in the U.S. are the target market for the 5c - and without a real pink (it's more of a light red that they have), the yellow could do very well with that group.

If they had a real pink, I wouldn't say that, but the 5c doesn't, so I'd expect yellow to do very well with the ladies (who will probably be the biggest buyers of the 5c compared to guys). JMHO...

I think alot of people will feel the same. Seems like Apple missed a big opportunity by not offering the Color for both the 5 and the 5s - they'd have sold a ton of 5sc's and made more money if they offered both visual styles at the middle and high end price points. The camera is the killer for me on the 5s, although the fingerprint lock is nice as well.

Maybe next year after Apple see's how well the 5c sells...and figures out how many people would have bought a 5s instead of a 5c if only the 5s was offered in colors...

I have to marvel at the predictions on macrumors. From the iPod, iPad, iPad mini, etc. Some people never seem to grow tired of being wrong.

People make incorrect predictions based on incorrect articles posted by MacRumors about incorrect information from analysts. But they all love it.

+1.. no demands for the 5C... what a waste of R&D.
Generally..... most people want the latest and the greatest!

That's so painfully not true. Just look at smartphone sales. As a category, the lower priced smartphones sell much better than the high-end smartphones. People want what they consider to be the best value for their money (and what they can afford!).

People mocked those camping outside Apple stores (stupidly early mind), turns out they done the right thing because they'll be first to get their hands on the 5S.

Although saying that I'm writing off the 5C & 5S this year. Hardly any improvements. The iPhone 5 has been killed off after a year because it clearly hasn't lived up to the hype Apple likes to build, I fear the same this year with the 5S.

I notice people on the forum are already saying their waiting for iPhone 6. A few years ago, no one would be thinking about waiting, they'd all be rushing out to get the latest one. How the 5C got the greenlight, I won't ever know.

Nah. People always talk about skipping S-year versions.

You're also forgetting about the additional supported-networks. And the camera improvements: "The iPhone 5c sports the same 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front-facing FaceTime HD camera that's seen on the iPhone 5. However, the iPhone 5c's camera has been slightly improved as it has an f/2.4 aperture, backside illumination sensor, a hybrid IR filter and the ability to zoom-in while recording videos. Even the front camera on the iPhone 5c has a backside illumination sensor for taking low-light pictures. Of course, the iPhone 5 will also get some new camera features such as live filters and a square photo mode with the iOS 7 update. These features come out-of-the-box with the iPhone 5c."

...and an upgraded FFC (backlit sensor now). So while it's close, internally (disregarding the outer casing), it's a bit of a change.

You know, the same ... but different. :D

Really, the yellow one? I guess to each his own but that's the color I like the least of the five.

I would totally rock the yellow one, I had a yellow car that was a favorite of mine :D

No disrespect but if "I AM BUYING" my 14 year old an iPhone and "I AM PAYING THE MONTHLY RECURRING CHARGE" he's gonna take what's available, not act so entitled. Sorry pal, I am a parent too and I do think that today's world gives kids (that aren't paying for anything) too much power in decision making.

On a different note, I do agree there aren't enough "guy colors". They white one is fine but they could've added a black one FFS.

I asked him what color he would like; he said he didn't care for the 5c. . . he said he'd be happier with another used 4s (which I can get free).

The only reason he got a smart phone was I got the broken one for cheap from work. Previously he had a flip phone. He gets what I give him, period. But considering I gave him a broken phone, I felt bad. Thus I gave him a choice.

Supplies "holding up well" here in the UK too (that's Estate Agent spiel for not -selling well) - all options and colours shipping for 20/09 17 since launch time at 1700hrs GMT

Also it doesn't necessarily mean it's the most popular one....maybe Apple also expected it to not be a top seller, so they had fewer yellow ones than other colors? It's just the one that has sold most above whatever projections there were. Also it's interesting that it's an unlocked version that Apple sells out of first....I have a feeling that lots of people are fed up with being slaves to carriers...or I suppose lots are ordering them hoping to sell overseas or something...or again Apple had fewer unlocked that carrier specific ones available.
