I think you all should call Apple support and do an exchange thru Apple Care till u get a perfect zero degrees device. We dont pay 900$ or 900 Eur for their "beautiful eyes", we pay for what they promise us .

I did and i got a perfect device right now.

Even they are aware of the issues, the faulty devices will be sent back for a repair in their factories or in their labs and then refurb on Apple Store. So just tell apple support that devices are faulty and u cant use Apps like advertise by Apple, coz datas are wrong coz of faulty sensors....

I have already given my feelings about a software patch :

A software update is surely complicated to do when u know u have different firmwares wrong on some lines and not all .

They have to check whitch lines and whitch calibration errors for each.

The best software update could be the manual calibration that dont mean a firmware calibration of the sensors . But if they dont want, they have to check serial numbers to determine where the device come from and if they cant determine whitch lines ....... i let you guess .

I have seen lots of faulty devices with a -3 degrees. they cant update to base on this calibration if others devices with 4-5 degrees or 1 degree will be affected by the patch. and they surely dont want to affect correct devices .

did u get a service unit or retail? what week and factory?

Unfortunately not all of us have this much time. I have returned mine for a refund and I will be checking this thread to see when they will solve the problem and then I will order a new one.

Moreover the 5s crashed a few times while switching apps and the VPN client I need for WiFi at work is not yet compatible due to the change to 64bit.

My 5S does that as well... about once a day, usually when switching apps/multitasking. I have heard from others with previous models that had this problem too so at this time, it sounds like this, is also an ios 7 issue...

I've just found this forum after reading an article on CNET's website. I was reading with great interest as I have a 5s 64GB space grey on order. Was just toying with the idea of cancelling the order until the problem is fixed when I got an email from apple saying my order had been dispatched but wouldn't be with me until 22nd October? The website won't let me cancel as my order has "been dispatched" is this a ploy from Apple to stop people cancelling the orders? When I've ordered on previous occasions I normally get the email the day before I get my order. Are the 5s that people are getting now giving accurate readings? Or is it still a lottery?

Check it out when you get it and if it is faulty then you can send it back no problem.

That's what I'll have to do, seeing as Apple has taken the decision as to cancel or not out of my hands.

Just refuse delivery.

If it's going to end up at my house now anyway it might worth trying it to see if it is faulty? Do you have to pay the postage to send it back?

You can ring and cancel but it will probably turn up at your door anyway. Happened to me they told me to refuse delivery. But then you have to wait for them to get it back for a refund.

Mmm not sure what to do now for the best. I do want a 5s but not a faulty one

I returned my 5S because the gyroscope was off by -3. I rather have a new phone that works correctly than a software workaround for defective units.

Good luck to everyone that kept their phones hoping for Apple to respond. I'm waiting for confirmation that it is fixed at the factory.

Nope. Just make a return request on the Apple site and an UPS courier will contact you to pick up the package, free of charge.

Mine iPhone varies. Sometimes it will be -3, sometimes 0, sometimes at -1.

I've played a few racing games to see if it would effect anything and finished races without the car going out of control. Don't really want to go through the hassle of exchanging to get another phone that could be worse, since my phone is great otherwise. Plus it's a gold, and they are hard enough to find as it is.

Hopefully it's a software issue and apple will eventually wake up from wherever they are and put a update out.

If this is such a big problem to our phones, why isn't it all over the news worldwide and shouldn't Apple be doing a re call?

Way it is. They seem to be late in most cases until it really gets bad. Cannot remember when Apple had a re-call.

Been playing with clitometer a bit today and this app is great. My 5s with -3 is now perfect within this app after it is calibrated. I compared it to my ipad and it is just as accurate. Closed the app rebooted and I am 0.0 to 0.1 on back and all sides. Just as good as my perfectly leveled ipad. Also games that alow me to calibrate work perfectly but most don't save the settings.

This is 100 percent correctable via software with software. It's really up to apple now on how to hand this.

By sending a small level and a compass to every users affected so they can calibrate their phones via software. That would be nice.

Even if they fix this in the factories I guarantee they will not change the chip or production line. They will include some low level calibration to the phones before they leave the factory. Si

The same with ihandy level app. Once calibrated, the app is always correct, everytime you open it up. So it does remember the calibration. Now if I went in and clear the app's cache, it would need to be recalibrated.

All I hear is a lot of *Crickets coming from Apple on this issue. Getting annoyed at the graphical glitches when switching from web pages to the home screen as well. It'll be pretty ridiculous if I have to get a 4th 5s...

I swapped yesterday at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store CentrO in Oberhausen, Germany (i am from Germany)

No change. The Exchange Unit has the same difference than the old one. (-3)

Serial both C3.....

The Genius didn't know about the problem. His own 5s has -1

Now i wait with the next exchange until Apple has changed the production.

The units in the Apple store in Oberhausen also all have this problem.

One employee was very honist and said that he also reads and writes in Communitys about that.

The iPhone users guide is VERY clear how the level should work:

http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iphb5af8af5e

If a genius or online advisor says otherwise refer them to Apple's own documentation!

Thanks for sending that across, I wish I had seen this before my ridiculous Genius Bar appointment. Can't believe they fobbed me off like that!

Tomorrow's my 14th calender day so will be asking for a UPS express replacement. Does anyone know if the replacement is also faulty with same issue will Apple just keep swapping it out? Also I suppose the replacement cannot be returned for a refund as it will be out of the 14 day period?

Thanks

I think you should wait until it gets fixed, at least that's what I am doing. Lots of people are exchanging and getting faulty units again.

I know what your saying but it what if there is no software fix and it turns out to be a hardware issue. The way I got messed around at the GB yesterday might be their new line going forward.
