Totally unsurprised. Every new iPhone model had supply constraints in the past; Some new components are always hard to mass produce at the beginning; the only exception is 5C, which basically just has a new shell.

Apple always keeps most of the stock for themselves. Wal-mart, Target, Bestbuy, and carriers get far fewer. You want one get it online from Apple.

What are you talking about? Even though the case is largely the same (with the exception of the home button) _everything_ inside that case is completely new:

1. New A7 chip
2. New M7 chip
3. New Camera
4. New Flash
5. New Fingerprint Sensor

"Minor Variant" my ass.

I swear that most of the posters on this forum surely must be plants by Samsung and Microsoft....

You can't be serious

Why does this happen EVERY year? Apple, why the hell can't you figure this supply chain thing out and start a month of two earlier than normal - or add a few production facilities/expand teams or something?

Every time a new iPhone comes out it's a total pain in the butt for weeks on end for people. (And I typically pre-order - but that obviously wasn't available this time)

It's frustrating.

Funny are the replies that show frustration over not having a new phone on launch day. An arbitrary day. Are people that "competitive" that they need to be first? It's a phone.

Apple could have said the launch date was a month from now and then you could have it on day one. So you would be waiting the same amount of time. So clearly it must be that others have the phone before you? Wow.

Let's see if I understand the current launch logic on display the last few days...

A. iPhone 5c: "It's still available after launch. Apple is doomed."

B. iPhone 5s: "It's not going to be available after launch. Apple is doomed."

My exwife is at a hospital right now, about to give birth to our first child.

I feel so bad that I can't be with her right now as I've joined the line at the Apple store Fifth Avenue. So stoked!

There I corrected it for you.

And people want a 128gb iPhone. Not going to happen.

Apple's logic in capacity is crazy and flawed.

The fact they double capacity for $100 is nuts. The profit made on 32GB and 64GB models is outrageous. I think the cost was once posted that Apple pays $8-11 more for the 32GB and $16 more for the 64GB.

So Apple is charging $200 more for the 64GB and their costs only increase by $16.

Whether intentional or not this will push more people to buy the 5c, no?

Don't agree with it? Respond with arguments, please. Otherwise, stop participating in open forums such as this.

The up voting on that post I think is quite interesting and rather telling, don't you think?

Smarter thing is to allow pre-order phones 2 months ahead. This allows Apple to produce the quantity they need to meet the initial demand.
