Same thing is said every single year before an iPhone release if Apple doesn't "blow" us away with something "revolutionary." Yet it never seems happen (if you think Apples stock right now has something to do with the iPhone then that is funny).

It's pretty obvious most people here actually think they are the majority of Apple buyers. lol.

"I just bought an iPhone 5 and I'm so disappointed that Apple isn't making something I want to buy even though it would cost me full price for the upgrade and most people don't buy them that way."

I bought an iPad 3 and the iPad 4 didn't blow me away. Same with the 2008 models of my car after I bought a 2007 model.

If you buy every iteration of the iPhone or iPad, you probably have way more money than sense. Well, you might also be lucky and able to dump the old models on your parents who are on the same plan. Ah, the one drawback of switching to Verizon. I was happy with my iPhone 4, but dropping the darn thing and killing the back light kinda made either replacing or upgrading necessary. $80 ETF later I'm on Verizon and can actually make calls from home.

So a device rumoured to be out in August we hear 'they are now in production'.....

3-4 months ahead of its release.

Yet the iPads rumoured for April and yet we have heard NO 'they are in production' rumors.

I think we can lay the April rumor for ipads to bed....

If this is real then i might say hello to the Nokia Lumina

Why would you move to a platform which is going to give you an experience of massively inferior quality? That's seems pretty dumb to me. Enjoy your 5 Windows apps.

----------

I really want to get rid of my awfully laggy iPhone 4 but I don't know if the 5S would be a wise move if they're going to release the 6 a few months later.

Yes there are 100's of people at writing code, with an equal number of takes of how code translates to usable features. Ive doesn't need to write code he just needs to make sure the good ideas win the discussion and get developed.

Even maybe hunt down some the good ideas already mostly developed that lost in SF year. That to me is the point of having someone good at design in charge.

I agree, although I do worry that Apple are putting all their eggs in one basket.

Is it really hundreds? It seems to take Apple so long to come out with updates etc that I've always assumed its quite a small team.

Hmm, let me see, jailbroken 5 or non-jailbroken 5S....

Assuming the 5S follows previous S incarnations, gimme the former every time. Unless ios7 is epoch making of course.

Here is the guaranteed specs:
1.) A7 (same architecture but quad core, huge upgrade in GPU)
2.) 12-13MP Camera (they may actually go with 13MP because the iPhone 5 has a 16:9 aspect ratio, HDR Video and/or Burst Shot will be the hardware integrated software features)
3.) 128GB model. They may double storage across all models, or pull an A$$hole move and say its $499 w/contract (128GB iPad pricing has me thinking latter will come true).
Here is the things that might happen:
1.) Fingerprint Sensor (this is not a question of if but a question of when)
2.) NFC (if NFC is every going to make it, it will be alongside fingerprint sensor)
3.) USB 3.0 support (Haven't seen it on any android phone yet, but the tech for this might be ready by fall)
4.) Fastcharge 2.0 (Qualcomm says this will charge phones 50% faster, but it will not be included in chips until 2nd half of the year)
5.) Better Camera Flash
Here is things that will NOT happen:
1.) A redesign
2.) A significantly bigger battery (dimensions will remain same, though they may do a slight bump)
3.) Removable battery/storage
4.) Bigger screen (Not with 5S and probably not with even with 6 and 6S)

Windows has impressed me as a mobile platform actually. If IOS keeps on its current path ill be moving to one also as soon as its mated to some nicer phones.

1. It may move to A7 indeed but may not be quad core.... Unless iOS 7 requires more power or they bump up resolution of the screen (both unlikely) they don't need a quad core.

I think dumb is subjective mate!
My requirements for a phone are pretty simple like text, phone, browser and music. Last time I checked the Lumina was more than capable of this.
As for lack of Apps on the windows platform, they have already moved off my iPhone 4 and onto my iPads and Macs for heavier lifting and are a lot more of a enjoyable experience.
The deal breaker is the UI

What good is a fingerprint scanner if your fingers get chopped off?

;)

What use is a touchscreen if your fingers are chopped off?

----------

What's the probability of it being available in July if production has already begun?

5s doesnt need any specs bump, the current phone is already fast enough and there arent even any apps that would require a faster proc. and graphics... What 5s needs is a better UI, better quality check and that "scuff-gate" problem solved.

But as always, i have a feeling that Apple will introduce fingerprint sensor as the new magical and most important thing and the main reason to buy the 5s.

new software > new hardware

I'm with you here... Might skip the S and just keep the 5 if iOS 7 runs perfect on it... Love my iPhone 5 and looking forward to see if Ive have had enough time to do some work on iOS 7... He has other tasks as well though, so might be iOS 8 for real though?:apple:

I cant wait for a GREAT MAPS App and for Apple to drop Google Maps and start their own Maps application, making it possible to safely travel around the world !

A voice control of the Phone making it possible to launch applications, search on internet and send Messages without typing would also be such a great idea !

Maybe also a smaller screen because all those oversized screens are so big in my pockets !

:eek::eek: OMG OMG OMG ... I'm so excited!!!!!

Whilst Samsung are about to launch what is without doubt going to be the best mobile phone out there ... 14th March .... all singing all dancing 5" screens, 8 core processors, 13mp camera's, smart scrolling, wireless charging (stop me someone, stop me!), Apple are all set to bring out .... errrrr ..... oh .... oh dear .... the same old ****** easy to scratch, yawn, monoblock bore that is the iPhone 5 with .... wait for it ... improved innards and a new flash.

Oh well, at least there might be the option of getting it in sick green, teenager pink and baby blue!!!!!

So a finger print scanner, and improved flash? I really hope Apple would stop the "S" versions due to the Android devices (mainly Samsung) doing really well.
I just hope to god that iOS 7 is worth it, because iOS 6 was an epic fail and felt more like iOS 5.3. Here's pulling for Jony Ive!

Keeping my 4S and waiting for the 6.

Don't wait mate ... I've just jumped ship from a 4S to a Nokia Lumia 620 running Windows 8. Best thing I've ever done! Nothing else coming up is tempting me to part with another wad of cash for a further 2 year contract, other than the Galaxy Note II (but I have small pockets), not even the S4 ... and since buying an iPad, my phone usage has shrunk to the point that I hardly use it; so when I do, the only things that would appeal would be larger screens and perhaps features like wireless charging ... non of which Apple have!

The 620 cost me £150 and I'm using my work phone sim so I've no more monthly phone charges. Whilst not perfect, Windows 8 is customisable way beyond IOS and although its no Android, it just seems more exciting to use.

I remember worrying about a transition from PC to Mac and I think these days people are just as afraid to move away from Apple as everythings so embedded ... but trust me, you'll NOT miss the iPhone and you'll embrace the fun of finally having some control over your phone and OS (and some of the really cool features Windows Mobile brings).

I can't lie... the 5S has me very, very nervous. I've stated it before and I'll say it again. Apple HAS to redesign the phone NOW, be it multiple screen size options, or a new look and feel; if they wait until 2014, they are going to get pounded into the sand. And hard. It might be a swan song of sorts to let competitors step in and steal the thunder.

Apple HAS to see the landscape of phones out there. 1.5 years for the iphone6 to release with a dramatic design is just too long in this ultra competitive environment. But I get a sinking feeling. A very bad one. That I'm about to watch the once great Apple completely whiff the opportunity of a lifetime.

A new iPhone release is a world-wide event that garners more publicity than almost any other product release. Maybe not even "almost". This generates major demand. You think Apple should give that up by making new iPhone releases commonplace and ho-hum? I would disagree.

This is really worrying. In all my years I've never heard such skepticism and vitriol towards and impending release of an :apple: product.
I can't say I don't agree, :apple: has sadly turned its back on its core market and focussed on the fickle masse that will turn off you as quickly as they turned on you.
If :apple: has any brains it will know from past mistakes to reel in there multi product catalogue and forget about watches, TVs and crap and just focus down on making computing modern, sexy and fun.
Hope you're reading this thread Tim.
