wish they made it bigger screen at least 4.2". All the "we have the perfect screen size" by apple is just marketing bs, how do they test it with one hand usage? using kids hands? i like ios a lot, but i think will just be getting a lagdroid when i upgrade :(

Trololololo

I never liked the "S" thing. "S" for what, "special"? "Sport"? Does it even stand for anything, or is it like putting "X" on something?

The "S" has always stood for Speed. Not sure if you were being serious or facetious.

Yet you still appear to own and even use some of their products

I own 2 ipad's, which imo is the best tablet to have considering I have tried the best competition.. So for what I am complaining about i gave up on in hopes they begin to compete.

That is a thing of the past...

----------

They typically release a full update every 2 years, an "S" version every 2 years alternating so that it's one per year. Is this surprising?

It's surprising they aren't listening to consumers and following the lead of competitors that's clearly taking them from the top spot. They have sued the crap out of Samsung, yet are behind them with innovation.

What use is a touchscreen if your fingers are chopped off?

----------

What's the probability of it being available in July if production has already begun?

It still works with other parts of your body.

Just a random thought - since the iPhone 5 has a longer screen than the 4s, do you get more time to kill zombies in Plants vs Zombies?

Who cares about the hardware. Hardware is not the problem, iOS is. Siri, iCloud and maps are. The focus needs to be on this, not Ive's hardware designs.

So excited to hear this news. Hope Apple make a big update for the iPhone5s. iOS7, 13+ MP camera and better NFC are my wish. Especially hope it have a better camera. I am one who like take photos very much at any time anywhere.

----------

Wishlist:

-- Back to 3.5 inch screen
-- LTE-Advanced
-- A6X Processor
-- Retina Display
-- 13+ MP camera.

Looking forward to its 13+ MP camera. :)

Why would you move to a platform which is going to give you an experience of massively inferior quality? That's seems pretty dumb to me. Enjoy your 5 Windows apps.

----------

I really want to get rid of my awfully laggy iPhone 4 but I don't know if the 5S would be a wise move if they're going to release the 6 a few months later.

Being out of contract on my iPhone 4, and no sign of anything worth looking at from Apple (waiting for the Galaxy S4 if anything), I've just purchased a new Lumia 620 for £150 to give a whirl ... and don't regret it one bit!

Owning a Mobile OS does feel a bit like you're out on a desert island as far as apps; but I've replaced 95% with Windows ones which IMO are actually better quality! The 5% I haven't got I don't miss in all honesty; and the features Windows and Nokia include as standard (such as routing) MORE than make up for that!

Live tiles are great and although the phone as a whole isn't as customisable as an Android device, its a heck of a lot better than IOS! Its also exciting to be part of what could be called a new format; much like I felt with Apple MANY years ago. I'm sure Mobile 8 will develop and although its not perfect now, I'm sure it'll be awesome one day with just a few tweaks. Using it now though is exciting ... much more than an iPhone 5 would deliver over an upgrade from a 4 (whoop ... and extra line of apps!)

My advice is don't be an idiot isheep and dismiss ... go try for yourself then comment. Some will like, some will love, some wont ... but I think all those coming from the 4 or 4S will find it a damn site more entertaining and better value than going for a 5/5S

Just curious what people object to about the "S" versions. The name? Seems trivial. The actual device has always been great.

Agreed. The S cycle has always been the far superior one to be in. By the time the S rolls around they've figured out whatever issues/flaws they had in the original and added a bunch of extra stuff, often at least as much as 3S-->4 or 4S-->5 if not more. And the waiting times aren't generally as long either.

I've been stuck in the 3/4 cycle cycle and I'm trying desperately to hold out until 5S, but fear I may cave. At least the 4 is still going quite well, amazingly well for a 2 year old phone, unlike the iPhone 3 debacle where it became almost impossible to use with iOS 4.

Living in the past. 3.5 inch is dead.

4s outsold the GSiii last quarter and therefore by definition outsold every other large phone. Since the GS4 isnt out this quarter, the 4s might outsell it again. That tells me there is a market for the 3.5 size. I agree it isn't the biggest market. But apple should not abandon it.

Anyway we know the 4s has another year of life. I bet it would be possible to give it a spec numb without majorly retooling the factories making it.

I'd like to see Apple make three sizes of their phone and keep that going.

With the size of the lens constrained as well as the internal sensor, adding megapixels is likely to make your shots worse. Also the more mega pixels jammed onto the same small sensor, the less light each increasingly small pixel can pick up. Hence low light performance is hurt. And that is already the weakest part of these camera phones.

Apple knows this and does not want to sell products based on useless specs. So they are unlikely to go to 13 until they can improve the lens and include a larger sensor.

I hear Samsung and HTC have 20 new flagship phones coming out this year, they might be of interest.

On the contrary... HTC have stated on record they are taking a leaf out of Apple's book this year and releasing only the HTC ONE as their flagship android device.

Sure they may have a decent W8 phone and then lower and middle range models.

But as flagship handsets go - this year its the HTC One only.

Your going to find it pretty hard to use any iPhone with no fingers.;)

That's why god gave men an extra knob! ;)

Has anyone here been following the development of the Qualcomm radio chips vs Verizon's LTE infrastructure?

Do we have any info as to whether or not the 5S will do simultaneous voice & LTE data on Verizon? I'm hoping so, because then it's bye-bye AT&T!

I'm digging the 6 monthly refresh.

On track for incremental new iPhone in April and iPad in May, which still leaves time for 5" iPhone in September and iPads in October, just like last year.

Samsung preempting, royally screwed.

Public happy, that they don't need to read rumour sites to know when to buy a great iPhone/iPad.

Customers happy, that smaller more frequent upgrades, means we don't feel screwed when the next model comes out.

Tim Cook keeps telling us Apple's not slacking off. That glint in his eye might mean 6 monthly refresh is going to change the game. HTC just skated to where the puck used to be. Innovate away Tim!

Keeping my 4S and waiting for the 6.

x2, but on an iphone 4.

enough of the "s" upgrades. the other companies have already suprassed iphone in features (and in some cases quality), and at this point the "s" stands for "slacking". apple has been very lazy ever since iphone 4 came out. lazy with the phone's design, and lazy when it comes to the ios.

People will probably still be mad, even with those changes, that iOS is bored and stale and doesn't change. Well, then you need to be bored with your dishwasher, silverware, etc. since those items haven't changed in quite a long time. Hell, you may want a complete redesign now, but then when Apple does change iOS everyone will throw a fit because its not iOS anymore; just look at what happened with Windows 8.

If people want something new just because they think iOS is boring & stale are wanting it for the wrong reasons. Just look at Windows 8. They had such a radical redesign it caused consumer confusion and they had to relearn it all over again.

Its better to make slight changes over time then all at once.

The S-cycle shoves unneeded tech (apps rarely require S-cycle tech b/c developers don't want to lose legacy support and the money that comes with it) into old form factors just to milk extra money out of customers.

I'm on the S-cycle and I'll be holding off on buying a phone to get on the regular upgrade calendar.
