I was waiting for a new iPhone with a bigger screen for 1 year to make the switch from my old Nokia Navigator and got tired of it, so I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 and after reading this still have no regrets!!!, that says it all.

So here's the thing. We are looking at (in the USA at least), a totally revamped OS, a slew of new plans and options from the carriers, and new hardware (same, cheap, colors, fingerprint, whatever). All these things hitting approximately at the same time as all the 4S contracts expire. So users will have a lot to think about. You are right that with a new OS, there are bugs that will no doubt be introduced. But I suspect that there is so much to get the average non techy's head to wrap around that bugs is not going to play the major factor here.

Agree.

I think some people want very small iPad that can use as mobile phone.
It's another segment market that Apple should response to if they don't make bigger screen iPhone.

Um no. haven't you noticed the trend? 3G>3GS>4>4S????

It's pretty obvious it would be like the iPhone 5 but upgraded internals just like it has been for years now. Which is why people wait for the big number, rather than the S as it's just a small update.

Wether it has one or two new features, there won't be a big wow factor as we all know what apple pretty much does every "S" generation.

Stop being an iSheep.

Now you're even resorting to personal insults?

Ok, do you know what processor it's running?
Or do you know what new flagship software feature its getting?
Or do you know how they'll use the fingerprint scanner (if they're even going to implement it)?
Or do you know what camera it will have?
Or battery life?
Or even the damn speakers?

We don't know. If your idea of a "wow" factor is simply a visual design change, then you're totally wrong. It's much more than that. You cannot honestly and confidently answer "yes" to any of the questions above. So why do you have to call people "sheep" when they point that out?

It's called Placebo Effect. Look it up. There is no app on your phone (except some over the top game) that needs the speed increase. Battery life was never improved.

So what was the upgrade, EXACTLY. Do tell.

Apple uses a faster processor: Placebo effect. Nobody needs it.
Samsung uses a faster processor: The innovation! Apple is way behind.

If it's the same form factor as the 5 then it looks like I'll be holding on to my 4s for another year. The elongated screen just doesn't do it for me. Crucify me all you want but I want a bigger screen.

I'm with you on that one. I know some people prefer the smaller 3.5 and 4.0 inch screens, but some of use want something a little bigger because our eyesight isn't as good and we just want a little more real estate to look at. I think they should also release a 4.5 to 4.8 inch model in addition, and then see where the market goes.

Now, why do you think Samsung releases their products BEFORE Apple? Is it because Samsung makes Apple components and maybe, kinda, sorta, has a little control over what they ship to Apple? Apple is also bringing their new OS to market and they do it at the same time the new product is released, so they time the two together. Plus, it's not real smart to bring out a product launch in the middle of the summer while people are on vacation.

The other aspect is Apple is working on new screen technology, camera technology, and this fingerprint ID technology all at the same time. Things don't happen in a vacuum.

You'll have regrets when the next release of Android OS comes out and you don't get it the same day they release it. Look at last year's S3. They are still trying to get 4.2.2 out for it and Google released 4.2.2 in February. It kind of sucks to have to wait an additional 6 or 7 months for the official blessed release. Something that always bothered me about the Android platform.

I'll just keep on using my iPhone 4 and if I need a bigger screen, I'll use my iPad or my desktop.

That would be an iPhone. That's basically what an iPad is. That's the whole concept.

personally, I think Apple should offer all mobile devices (iPads, and laptops) with an optional voice/data chipset, antenna, and sim card to turn it into a phone with cellular data. Then have the cell carriers connect all devices to the same phone number. That way whichever device you have handy will take and make phone calls, have cellular data and then we won't always have to have more than one device handy.

Sometimes I would carry just a tablet, just a phone, or just a laptop around and maybe keep the phone in the car connected.

As someone who mostly uses and android phone now, I am really looking forward to a cheap iphone. I do like IOS and if it is around $350 that is much easier to swallow as a second phone than $650

Bloomberg is now reporting a rumor from the Far East that the new iPhone will be delayed due to a last minute screen size change. They want us to believe Apple has made a last minute decision to delay the launch of the next iPhone to change the screen size? While other rumors suggest the phone is going in to production later this month?

Once again the financial media reporting garbage right before Apple's earnings call. Whatever happend to the WSJ front page story back in January about massive cuts in iPhone production? Was that ever proven out?

I'm looking forward to the 7th gen. I plan to replace my 5th gen and I'm pretty excited about iOS 7. I wish the screen wasn't so huge, since I'm one of those crazy 3.5" lovers, but oh well.

This may be a rather expensive fall for me, as I also am ready to finally buy an iPad. If the mini is retina, I may go for that, but if not I'll get the full sized.

I'd really like to see it be made waterproof or water resistant. With the price they charge it also needs a larger screen along with a top of the line CPU, GPU and RAM.

What does iOS 7 deserve? iPhone 5S is going to be perfect for it, much faster CPU/GPU that iOS 7 will take advantage of. Just maybe, but I doubt it, it might have more memory in it. That will really speed up the iOS 7 with its new expanded multitasking.

its the name. i am seriously begining to think that it is simply the name.

had the 4s been called the 5, the 5s the 6 (err, 7) that would be enough. it seems that the "s" marker leads people to think that the phone isn't really better.

macbook pros go years with the same body design, and yet, we are facinated with the specs inside. most of us don't pay too much attention to the gigaramZ in our phones. body design is what people focus on, and in turn, the name.

so yeah, what does iOS7 need? for this phone to be called the iPhone 6 (i prefer 7 so the two are in line, but i am like that).

*sigh*

A7
iOS 7
No finger print sensor in this model
13MP camera, 1.2mp front
Obviously better battery(longer)
Same speakers.

Not to forget World-LTE support. iPhone 5 lacks support for the 800MHz band, which is mainly used in European countries. :apple:

The glass back was a horribly expensive design flaw. It was expensive to use the glass...and it was expensive for the consumer when the glass would break despite being in a case. My aluminum 5 looks much better after 10ish months than my 4s did after 3 months.

What did you do to your 4s to make it look so bad? I've literally run over my iPhone 4 with my car (it fell out of my pocket) and all there is, is a couple of nicks out of the glass from the crushed rock driveway, and a light spot in the LCD that is really only noticeable on an all-black background.

How about for the flagship device starting off at 32GB and going up to 128GB? And the low cost option can be 16/23/64.

Internals of course are going to be refreshed. What more hardware wise can they do (besides larger screen of course)? NFC? Is that such a big deal?

that's the point, they'll only refresh the internals, why not use a quad-core chip, universal remote, wireless charging, 128GB storage, better battery, widgets, customizable homescreen, more RAM, etc. NFC is just one of the many features iphone needs to stand neck and neck with the competition.

Refresh internals as in using the next-gen chips, not refresh as reusing the same chips with a bit more speed added. They've upgraded single-core to a newer dual-core A5 chip, a newer generation of GPU chips, a faster Wi-Fi chipset and so on in iPhone 4S.

We don't know anything about iPhone 5S right now. I believe Apple will go quad-core GPU, higher-clocked dual-core CPU A7, 2GB of RAM, improved radio with 802.11ac support, and a slightly improved battery.

Apple doesn't care about NFC, I still haven't seen any useful purposes for it and from what I've seen of my Android folks, they don't either. I rather they not bloat it up with useless features and focused on better features that people will use, like improved cameras and more RAM for the new expanded multi-tasking feature in iOS 7.

Widgets/Homescreen is more of an iOS thing and so far, iOS 7 doesn't have them, so don't expect anything of that sort.

As an iPhone 5 user, I could give two ****s with another useless 'S' upgrade. I have yet to encounter any slowdowns in my phone and im jailbroken with tons of add-ons.

Definitly looking forward to iOS 7 though. A nice refreshing change.
