Does anybody know who else might have a Sprint 6 that you can buy outright other than Best Buy? I'm paying $25/month through my Framily and would like to just buy the thing to keep that as cheap as I have it...
maybe costco? i know they are selling apple stuff now & i think i even saw the iphone 6 (not 6+) on their website for a few bucks cheaper...
but honestly, i chatted w a rep about getting that hotspot "continuity" feature enabled on my account & i didnt want to pay extra money...she switched us from an unlimited share (aka framily?) to the "family share pack" or whatever and we got the hotspot feature added & are saving $50 per month in comparison.
the pros of the plan switch:
- can use that hotspot feature that is coming out on iOS8 & yosemite OS soon so you can use your cellular data on any wifi devices wherever you get cell signal
- turn any wifi device into a "cellular" (ex. wifi ipad/laptop becomes cellular ipad/laptop when you have ur iphone on you at the same time)
- save $50 per month (we have 4 lines)
the cons:
- pushed down from "unlimited data" to a 20GB cap per month for the whole family (i checked w the sprint rep & she said we only use 4GB a month anyways, mostly use wifi at school & home so probably wont go over the 20GB data cap = good option for us, but YMMV)
- unlimited text messaging & calling costs $15 per device (so i think you can opt out of this if you dont need it = MORE savings? but let me be clear that our bill dropped $50 per month AFTER the $15 per device fee, so i already took that into consideration)
so our phone bill last month was $232 and will now be $100 + ($15*4) + taxes & fees = $190 per month. so really a savings of $40 per month, so i dont know why the sprint rep kept stating "$50/month". also, dont forget to enroll for their SDP program to get another 10% - 18% off your monthly bill (this was NOT included in the calculations, so maybe it will work out to $50/month afterall...or more).
the ones i know: if youre a AAA member = 10% off, and schools vary from 10% - 18% off...so talk to a sprint person and tell them EVERYTHING u are affiliated with and use the one with the biggest percentage. AAA, university employees/students, and a lot of companies (old navy, sams club, etc) also qualify for a specific discount.
I was told by a Sprint rep that as long as the phone is traded in by 9/30, you will get the $200 minimum credit. I was not able to process the trade in during checkout because it was saying $0 for trade in so I skipped over that step and just ordered them outright.
When speaking with Sprint later in the day, I was told you can bring the phone into Sprint yourself or they will mail you a box to ship it back to them, at which time you'll get your credit applied to your Sprint account. They told me I'd still get my credit as long as I did all this by 9/30, so I'll have my phone before I need to trade in my 4S. How it works for people who don't receive their phones until October? I have no idea.
hmm...thanks...i feel like ours will be coming after october...will some of us be phoneless for a while???
