That's only going to be true if either you don't care about screen size, colour and memory size, or if they have 20 of each of the 18 possible combinations of size, colour and memory... I'm guessing he meant the former.

Well I imagine #3 in line ain't too shabby for an ATT store pick up 1 of 4 possible models I'll go with.

What to Expect: Shamesung will finally stop wasting millions of money, free ads for Apple. NOT. Keep them coming, SS. The bigger than bigger is HERE for real! :D

I am confused as to why anyone would have to have the latest iPhone, is it a fashion statement? No wonder why there are so many broke people in this country......This brings to mind a quote about broke people ...... people who buy things they don't need , with money they don't have, to impress people they don't know.

Or--and this is a stretch--we could be all be financially stable and enjoy the phone for ourselves without a thought in the world about what anyone else thinks about what we spend our money on. :D

Getting my 6+ 128gb gold tomorrow from radioshack. Only problem is that they have 0 cases out for the phone, other than apple's over priced leather.

I think people who have pre-ordered are getting nervous for no reason. I think 99% of the people who will be in line did not pre-order.

I know about 20 of my friends who want to get an iPhone tomorrow. Out of those, I'm the only one who has a pre-order.

Want to talk about math?

- 4,000,000 units pre-ordered either delivery or home.

- 9 countries (we'll guess the US made up for half, 2,000,000 units)

- Based on comments on here, it appears at least 75% of the people who pre-ordered are having them delivered, leaving about 500,000 to be picked up in stores.

- This means playing the averages, each store has about 1000 in-store pickups.

That's not even taking into account these numbers are probably really high, because it's likely that the big stores got way more, meaning the not so big stores got way less. So from a pre-order standpoint, you may be seeing 100-200 people show up in the morning, then 200-300 throughout the day, then the other 200-300 over the weekend. The whole point of pre-ordering is to not stand in that absurd line...

I lost you after "Based on..."

I have to say, I find it a bit pathetic that people have nothing better to do with their lives than wait overnight or in line for hours just for a phone. This isn't some miracle, it's just a phone. When the first iPhone came out, I could understand. It was an amazing new never seen before product. "we added a larger screen, a better camera" (people rush to get it line) Similar situation with the iPad.. Can't see any reasonable person waiting for a watch though.. Don't people have a social life or a job, or something to do?

I waited once for 2 hours for my MacBook Pro 4 years ago on tax free weekend. I was then told if I had purchased online, I still could have avoided sales tax. That's my regret. That was when I has 14 and only had a paper route. Now I have a real job.

With so much misery in this world, and many of us having to deal with multiple levels of stress in our daily routines, is it so wrong to revel and enjoy this time of year?

Seriously...Many of us enjoy getting up at an odd time in the am and hitting refresh on the App Store numerous times in our quest to obtain the newest device from our favorite ecosystem. And yes..We get excited to track the shipment from China and it's all in good fun.

For those who insist on trying to belittle our little special time of the year by making us feel like outcasts or inferior...stop pissing on our parade and find something that makes you happy.

Merry :apple: Xmas everyone!

lined up at a major telco outlet....time to play the waiting game.

They had a few 6+'s but only one space grey for me (8th in line) ...16gb

Had a play, not sure i want the 6+ now but i'm sure i'll get used to it. At my local apple store there were over 1000 people queuing, pretty much everyone at the front was flipping the phone's they were going to buy so i left my 300th spot for a chance at a telco (as above). 6+ supplies are tiny.

Edit:
That said, i should have pre-ordered. I wanted to line-up and capitalise on this brief peaceful and super prosperous time in history where i can have a life, have a job, and also spend a few hours out of my morning to line-up with some like-minded fanatics that i rarely get to see in the wild otherwise.
so did they have 64gb??or 128? Did you want 16?

Thanks MacRumors staff for compiling the open times for brick and mortar stores.

Graci!

:)

Every year these posts come out, and every year they're complete B.S.

For many people it is a hobby. If that's what they want to do, who cares? There are a lot worse things one could be doing with their time, like belittling others on a forum because they can't understand how someone might want to live differently than them.

Most of the people in line probably make more money than you, which is why they're in line to get their 128GB Space Gray iPhone 6+ off contract. Don't mistake free time for lack of education or ability.

Waiting in line isn't my cup of tea either, but I'm not going to belittle anyone for it. Neither should you.

You wrote that while standing in line didn't you? :)

Am I the only one perfectly happy with a 4s that I can actually carry in my pocket?

I am totally happy with the size of my 4s. That might be it. I'm not totally happy with its speed in certain apps, app refreshing, battery life, camera, keyboard, lack of airdrop, lack of touch ID, and lack of apple pay (if it catches on). But that's just me.

Should have seen the line into the car park ...

There would have been about 40 people in the reserved line at the Chermside Apple Store. For the ones like me that just showed up before the store opened this morning expecting a long wait but able to collect the new iPhone today - it wasn't going to happen. An Apple representative said before opening they have sold out of the iPhone 6 Plus and only have iPhone 6 available. I recommend to reserve or purchase online. I was happy to wait and hoped to see a Senior Apple staff member from Cupertino but it was a disappointment. Next time I will save myself the 260 kilometre round trip and just buy online

This makes absolutely no sense to me

Waiting in a queue when you could have just ordered it over the internet and received it in your home in a couple of weeks or so.

Over night? Wow! Stupidity loves company....

Apple stores obviously had a lot more than one 6+
Otherwise the first world howling would would be heard in Antarctica. Apple stores would have had a lot, but not enough.

The media report was (probably deliberately) vague to cause angst, like all the journo-vultures do these days.

Probably the stores with only one 6+ were the crazy johns or virgin mobile outlets in suburbs far outside the goat cheese belt that the journalist lives in.

As I just put in my Twitter channel,

in the UK 3 Network has been struggling to fulfil some pre-orders but are expecting daily deliveries. according to a salesman Apple didn't supply enough stock.

I turn around and saw about 6 people going in to O2 at 8am grinning for the new iPhone. this is drastically less than past iPhone launches. Could be more people are buying sim free directly from Apple due to poor tariffs.

I bought my iPhone with money I have, so I can use it, because it's better than the one I had, and I couldn't really care less what other people think.

That said, I ordered it online and it's coming today - I think a lot of the people in line today are hoping for a 6+ and are going to be very disappointed.

I suspect based on what I saw at the MK apple store this morning, a few more may end up at the carriers because I'd hazard by now they've run out of stock, given over an hour ago they only had 64GG SG 6's left for "some" people in the queue.
I'd prefer to keep unlocked, I'm contemplating getting a three sim to see what the speeds are like in the areas I need a signal. Will see what EE can tempt me with SIM only wise as well - the wifi calling for example might be handy as the signal in parts of my house could be better...

Well apparently according to this rep 64gb is basically gone, and they don't seem to know what stock they have coming. Apple is sending units but 3 have no idea of the configuration.

I am going for another look around in a bit to see what is going on. So far not a completely smooth launch ( but if it was then it would feel weird )

no matter what you do, never mess with an asian in front of the line. Kung fu fightin

i love how the old guy still had his fists ready to punch

as a penalty: they were both moved to the end of the line

The "launch" won't happen for me till 10/2-10/13 even though I placed my order 18 minutes after pre-order window opened. Thanks AT&T. What's funny is that I've always ordered through Apple before. I chose to go with AT&T this time because Apple's site was not up and the Apple Store app was not working for me. Oh well!

So you blame AT&T for the Apple site being down?
